new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

So, how many does that make for you, now, DiamondDave? Three? Four? Do you hook 'em all up in the same room and move in a seamlessly flowing motion from one to another? Is your ultimate master plan to have thirty of these so each one can exclusively focus on playing just one of the library's thirty titles?! winking raspberry

He wants to amass a huge pile of 'em so he can take a picture of it and add the caption, "Hey! Look what I just happened to randomly find!!" Then, he can pleasure himself to the weeping and gnashing of teeth that'll inevitably follow. At least, that's what I'd do. love

I've got one still unopened on my shelf from ThinkGeek's last crappostings... I'll probably use this one as trade bait or just flip it at some point, but no rush either way. I'm interested to see if it continues to climb in price; it was about $120 before Nintendo discontinued, at which point it capped at about $275 then trailed down to around $220 once demand went back down, sunk to around $180 after the Amazon Truck/ThinkGeek resupply/wallet rape bundles, and now it's back to around $200-220 depending on completeness after about a month now. Don't think it'll trend downward from here, especially with the SNES Classic incoming, since no matter what anyone implies, these are pure shelf candy items and the people looking to have one on the shelf won't really be looking to inject them back into the market for some time.

So, speculative, a bit. But remember, the NES Classic's certainly not limited to 30 games with a bit of work, nor even one system library. The NES Classic, with a few title exceptions (Starfox I haven't tried but Yoshi's Island plays like trash), performs admirably as a pseudo-SNES/Genesis classic with very little effort, and I still like the interface more than an equivalent Pi setup.

The guy who runs RetroUSB once said the number of people on Earth with skill, time, and motivation to complete such a complex project is 3. Kevtris has made a similar single-digit claim on AtariAge too IIRC. I don't know crap about FPGAs but reimplenting this hardware seems super complex and Kevtris is really the only guy I trust to get it right with no compromises.

Yes! Also, have it resting ceremoniously atop a white, silk pillow. That'd definitely be creepy awesome as fudge! shock

Alright! So, tomorrow should be the big eBay flash sale! Is everyone ready? Are all y'all's ducks in a row?! If so, then...

I'll go first. Because they each happened to have a "Best Offer" option, I was able to negotiate and agree on a price before officially committing to buy Avenging Spirit (Game Boy) and Ninja Taro (Game Boy), shown here and here, respectively. Both sellers have already been asked if payment can be postponed 'til tomorrow and neither have any problem with it. So, now, we wait...and ask y'all what you're gonna get! grin

Titus, man. Get it while it's under the radar. If Game Boy collecting ever takes off people are going to realize it's only $5 on price lists because they're all confused by foreign and GBC copies. US gray cart is as rare as anything on GB.
