new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

SRW V and Moon Dwellers PS4 English text versions. These or Puyo Puyo Fever are the most likely options. I don't trust buying anime off eBay, lol.

Sadly, I already sent out the payments yesterday for both Avenging Spirit (Game Boy) and Ninja Taro (Game Boy), shown here and here, respectively. Thankfully, though, my eBay list is deep and wide and a suitable backup wasn't hard to find. So, I ended up buying Banishing Racer (Game Boy), shown here, after watching this pretty well-made YouTube video, shown here. yes

My Wonderboy is spoken for, but I do have an extra Oceanhorn, both a PS4 and a Vita version.

(Likewise if anyone needs a spare Ys CE; I got one on each system, and really only need to keep one...)

Depending on which version @Rune_Walsh is looking for, I'd be interested in Oceanhorn on Vita should it be available.

Also, if anyone happens to have a extra copy of Ghost Blade HD, I'm looking for one of those as well.

Heh, what can I say?! But, trust me, fellas. If I ever told y'all of my last BIG video game purchase, even the phrase "collectard" wouldn't be enough to truly describe my lunacy. dead face

On the plus side, I got to double dip and paid my brother to buy me two more video games using his eBay account and that same flash sale promo code. I picked up Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (Game Boy) and Snow Brothers (Game Boy), shown here and here, respectively. I've definitely caught the Game Boy bug and would actually love some suggestions from y'all: what's good, fun, and worth getting? grin

Otaku no Video Blu-Ray and a couple of old stock dvds they had lying around. Bubblegum Crash and AD Police files. DVDs were dirt cheap actually. I'm hoping they will kickstart Blu-Ray for them but with the free shipping factor it was only $9 more to include them so I figured, why not.

I backed the kickstarter for Bubblegum Crisis and Riding Bean. Never got around to it with Otaku no Video but it's definitely something I want.

Yessss. I really appreciate old animation too. Macross DYRL (animation on this is much better than the series), Gundam Char's Counterattack, Giant Robo (the 90s one), MADOX, Riding Bean, To-y, Five Star Stories. These are some of my fa-vou-rite things.

Bubblegum Crisis (the original oav) was actually going to be longer, but the money ran out. The blu of it is excellent but I believe they finally sold them out just a couple weeks ago. I don't think it comes up often on eBay because no one wants to sell it. Crap, I am gonna watch it again now.

So Silent Hill 1 is better than Resident Evil 1?

I think I agree. While the first RE is iconic now since it kick started the whole horror genre into the mainstream, I think Silent Hill wins by a slight edge. SH's story is creepier. Game play I would say they are about the same.

RE2 is where the franchise really started to look polished. I dont remember much about SH2-3. I used to use the alias Harry Matson lol(yes, I added a T)

Ugh I forgot to weigh in! No Resident evil is the better series.

And I also don't understand why everyone likes RE2 better than RE1 that's just silly. There was nothing scary about RE2 for me it was cool yeah but the mansion was creepier and it felt more RE than the second. I don't know if Silent Hill is creepier I mean they are different I could never get as into them not that I was bored ..... I just wasn't very interested. RE1 and RECV are maybe my two favorites ever but I haven't played through every game or series, I love horror and getting scared it just doesn't always scare me or interest me I'm kinda weird about my scary games like if you want to do a scary play through Fatal Frame 2 is scary as hell and totally creepy and you feel unsafe like you're character really doesn't have a chance to survive. Idk maybe that's just me. Plus the game is beautiful the Xbox version at least. I still wanna at least try the PlayStation versions.

I wasn't talking about series as a whole though.

It was strictly between RE1 and SH1. As far as series goes, that's another conversation.

As for RE1 being better than RE2. I can't agree.

RE2 is so much more polished. So much higher production value. And not to mention having a very unique cross-event set up that offers much better replay value.

RE1's faults are forgivable though as it was early in the series and the whole genre pretty much.

Everybody likes the storyline and acting in RE2 better it seems except me and I'm okay with that. I didn't even like either Redfield sibling until code Veronica. I still mean to go back and finally play through RE3 since I have it on psp now 😍 But yeah the atmosphere was so much better in the first one there were many more types of monsters in it. As the series progressed it got too garbage science fiction for me like all the mutating during a fight stuff? ..... It's just lame. Of course I know people like that stuff since it makes it last longer and feel more like an accomplishment when you finally defeat the 2nd or 17th variation of a super hard boss but it just loses me.

The only thing that was maybe higher quality to me over RE1 in RE2 was the voice acting. If that's the polish you mean then I can almost agree but again I wasn't the biggest Claire Redfield fan and I also thought her brother was boring in the first one. I love Jill Valentine though so maybe that's why I didn't like the other two so much. Also I don't want to give any spoilers but the nature based enemies in RE1 really were enjoyable for me much more so than the Lickers (the lickers were the best part of the monsters in RE2 though) and weird mutations from RE2 and other games like RE0 which I couldn't even bother to play for very long. I've only finished RE1 RE2 and the original RECV on Dreamcast btw so maybe there's a lot more I missed that I need to play but I seriously didn't really want to keep playing RE0 and that's not because it's bad I just need to get over it and try it again.
And not think too much about the gross mutations that aren't scary or interesting to me 😐 Because I think once I get into the story more there should be better monsters along the way that I will find cool.

I just need to be more open minded and positive and good things shall happen 😊

@creagan that's a lot of great stuff there were you looking to sell, trade? If selling an auction might work 😉

But seriously, I would definitely want the links awakening book, skate or die box and instructions (so cool that you have the styrofoam, does it still have that brand new nes game smell too?) the ghostbusters 2 box. I have been wanting to get original instructions and boxes (yes including styrofoam inserts) for nes games for awhile and I don't mind having instructions and or boxes for games I don't yet have. It just gives me a reason to get those games faster. Also the dreamcast stuff is cool and the game gear mk2 (instructions or box or both)

Do you have a bundle price or anything in mind?

Anyone heard of Silverload on PS1 / PC? Just played through part of it with a buddy, I really like the atmosphere of the game but it is really frustrating to progress because you have to click in the exact right place and the controls don't translate well to PS1, its a point and click adventure game. Never heard of this game before I picked it up at a pawn shop a couple days ago.

Going to sell my PC-FX. Before it hits eBay though, I figured I'd give it a shot here. Comes with, well all the peripherals you could ever realistically need. 2x controller both in fantastic shape (I wonder if either was used before I acquired them, they were definitely used by me though), 1x working memory card (got a corroded one if you want it too :p) and 1x working mouse. All accessories are CIB. I can include cables, but this thing is awesome so it just takes standard composite or svideo cables. Nothing proprietary yay. Also I'm not saying it will include the games I burned off but what am I going to do with those, hmmm.

digital has definitely made it nice for games like suikoden 2 where a physical is triple digits and digital is like 5 bucks. suikoden 2, is available legitimately on psn, whereas another expensive game like tales of destiny 2 or Valkyrie profile is not, however you get or play these, the dev/pub gets nothing from it, only the used game store or ebay seller. emulating tales of destiny 2 and suikoden 2 without owning a copy aren't really apples to apples. but I am not trying to turn our RTT into an emulation discussion or the moral clauses therein, just stating a thought.

true, but not at retail or psn, so its still only a benefit to the secondary market is what I mean. there is no "legit" way to get these games "new" or from a way that benefits the dev/pub.

there are still psp games on there, you can dl them to a vita, and I guess you could dl to a ps3 or pc then put them on a psp? but a search on the psn store doesn't turn up either of those titles, but plenty of other stuff is on there.

Well, Tales was an EU only title so it wouldn't show up on US PSN. Just thought about that. But...it's probably not available digitally anymore anyway. Yea, I gave a neutral rating. It's stupid to try to save a buck within the CONUS to try to envelope and first class.

Even with careful packing in a box, you can get the package under 16 oz. for the first class option.

The real problem is that it's so "easy" to sell stuff on eBay. eBay wants it to be super easy so it draws people in. So then you have people selling stuff who literally have no idea about what it is they are selling. Remember those GITS dvd sets I got that were so badly packed the cases broke? That seller mostly sold clothing and jewelry, so yeah. It's even more of a problem with LaserDisc players, I'm not even going to get into that too much but imo it's worth paying a slight premium to get a player from a person that actually knows what players are good, what's fully working and what isn't, plus they will know how to actually pack a LaserDisc player.

I have a standard note I add to every order on ebay that requests a "secure boxed shipment" so that it doesn't get damaged in shipping. Can't tell you how many boxed GBA games I have received in a bubble mailer. Each time it happens with that statement in the notes, I've gotten a full refund from ebay no hassle, no fuss. Makes me sad to see one less game in nice shape get lost due to just plain laziness or to save a few pennies.

I see way, way worse shipping today than I ever saw last decade. I assume it's the rise of people getting into it for a quick buck, scraping the bottom of the flea market barrel and trying to squeeze every last penny out of Ebay (although returned items are a bad way to do that).

I have sent Saturn cases in bubble mailers but I always wrap them in bubble wrap first. None have cracked so far at least.

I activated that. Not sure I trust eBay retailers for anime though and I'd rather @bill see those Amazon kickbacks. Maybe I'll find something else, or get slightly less anime than I was planning.

I honestly don't think you gonna find NGPC in this good condition in the wild without paying a huge premium. This is also the US version not the ubiquitous Japan ones.

Not to mention 2 CIB games in excellent shape. I'm basically passing this along, I have played with it very little since I got it from @FrictionPin back in the steals thread.

I did play a little bit of MS.

Is there a major difference between US and JP systems?

I'm getting pretty excited about something on eBay. The seller on this item just kept dropping the price. Arranging shipping is going to be a dog though, so I had to message them to even get an idea of cost (has to be shipped by freight).

I didn't give it a whole lot of use either although I was gonna get a flash cart for it so those are out there now. It was basically new when I picked it up a few years ago. Pretty sure the only difference is the menu is in English although I believe you can change the language on the Japanese version to English as well.

Hmm, are you getting a PVM/BVM?

@FrictionPin Yeah I got rid of my NEC PC-FX for the same reason. Shoot I probably played it more last night beating a couple games before I shipped it off than I had previously. I had really only cleared Zeroigar previously.

I already have a PVM and mentioned I won't be getting another. Solid guess though. Also, more expensive than a PVM.

I'll vote Soul Blazer since I am 30% through and that will incentivize me to finish it! :P

You guys are silly Adventure Island is beatable I know I beat the first one ..... It's impossible when you lose your weapons after dying on certain levels, okay almost impossible. But even still I did it. Castlevania is pretty hard too though and if you don't have the right weapons it's kinda impossible. Unlike how the levels from ninja Gaiden are hard and the bosses are easy the bosses from castlevania require more skill and luck AND the right sub weapons.

But shouldn't castlevania be an October choice? I'm getting a retron 5 from Friction Pin and there's a retro game store that might have lots of snes Genesis and nes games so I might be able to score some cool carts there. I'm thinking a Lolo game?

Also I have adventure island 2 but not 1.

My brother challenged me a few months ago to beat smb1 without warps or the one up trick maybe we could try beating Super Mario bros without warping? (I haven't been able to beat it without warping since I was a kid and I tried a few times) Or maybe Tetris where we get a certain ending? Idk but I think challenges with hard stipulations make it more interesting.

There's still a few days till September does anyone have a pretty generic title that everyone might have in mind? Maybe sonic 1? I might be down for adventure island 1 but I'll have to find a copy. Maybe mike tysons punchout? That's one of the most classic nes games and it takes some great timing.

The 2nd picture is a bit too blurry to tell for sure but the blue wire doesn't look like a solid connection that will last. Also, I'm not sure what pin 27 on the PIF-NUS is used for with this mod, I've never seen that one connected to anything. Other than that, it doesn't look bad, the mod is pretty straight forward. Bridging and too high heat on the FFC are generally the issues to look out for on this one.

*Edited - pin 27 is support for in game reset

Investing in good hardware that you will use a lot is one of the best things you can spend on, hobby wise. I'll spoil the surprise. I'm looking at dropping about 1K total on some high quality CRT projectors. Right now I'm working out all the space logistics, what I'll need to make my own screen etc... before I buy. Because responsibility or something I guess.

Oh and completely agree, the N64 isn't worth it.

Yeah I'm not fully sure. It would require a total reworking of a room. It would actually be mainly for movies, but I'm sure I'd game on it from time to time. An alternative to this, for my main purposes here is a higher end video processor. Gotta squeeze out that extra 1% for watching movies, lol.

Edit: I've been talking myself into the processor lately. It's more, a lot more, but presumably wouldn't require maintenance. Certainly not the kind of maintenance that a projector requires.

Wait, have you not ever finished Castlevania on the Nes? Actually I've already noticed two other people mention they hadn't ..... 😞

Which reminds me there was an arcade version of Castlevania totally different from the Nes version much like Ninja Gaiden and how it was also totally different. Has anyone played the arcade version of Castlevania? I was wondering what people's thoughts were of this game? I barely remember it but I remember thinking this is nothing like the home version either. Maybe someone knows of an emulation somewhere of it?

I'm in that list. I got pretty far once but never finished it up I don't think. CV1-3 I haven't done a full clear on, and if I did 3 it was with states so the crap don't count

11:32.

Donanghue either can't beat it or isn't in the top 101, so that doesn't bode well for bad players like me. Actually it looks like all his "runs" might be gone? frown

Not all of Dugongue's runs are gone, but some are? Not not actually sure what happened there.

Kmac is the god of NES Castlevania. He's all but retired from speedrunning, but he come back whenever some beats this record and crush it and go back into retirement.

11:32 is probably not beatable by anyone here, the game is actually physically shorter than ninja Gaiden but it's also got some serious luck involved to not just die or get trapped in a bosses hit pattern.

I guess the cool thing about playing these two games back to back for us is that they play similarly in a lot of ways. The main drawback from Castlevania however is the fact that in the first one the jumping mechanics will literally screw you over because it controls very stiff and once you jump there is no fancy moving around in the air and controlling it like ninja Gaiden or super Mario. Once you commit to the jump you're locked in as your final answer. Even if some random enemy spawns at the exact wrong moment you're screwed.

Still this game is easier than the first adventure island to beat (unless you can keep your weapons in adventure island in the later levels without EVER dying then it's kinda easy).

I think a half hour is probably doable guys but even if more than one of us can finish in under an hour I'd say that's a pretty serious accomplishment.

Wow thats not as bad as I thought, what's the 101 ranked players speedrun time?

Also again I'm not going to watch that video until I finish it on my own, unlike ninja Gaiden I had some of the more important tips still in my mind like exactly which weapons are best against which bosses.

Also 10 minutes just against Dracula?!? He's not even the hardest boss he's almost a freebie compared to the hardest boss but I guess with the right sub weapon (and enough hearts saved up) even that boss will fall quickly.

There's this guy on YouTube who has a literal mountain of original arcade 'boards. I'm always so impressed when I see some of the pieces in his collection. Anyhow, he's got a video of himself playing the Castlevania arcade game, Haunted Castle (Arcade), shown here. Now, this actually isn't the first Castlevania title to be released in the arcades. Technically, that honor goes to Castlevania ( Nintendo PlayChoice-10), shown here. smile

Holy guacamole nice sir! Thank you for those videos, I remember play choice 10 which was an amazing and forward thinking idea. If you couldn't afford it at home yet they wanted you to get a taste of it in the arcade so you would need it at home. And the other original Castlevania in the arcade had some decent graphics but damn if it doesn't totally remind me of Altered Beast and Rastan as well the way it plays there.

Nice!

Beating the game from start to finish as quickly as possible is basically how I understand it myself.

There are (I believe) self imposed rules and even official rules to this as well and I think it varies by game but I'm not a professional speed runner myself I just like classic games and am fairly interested in these games again now that I know about this.

I haven't watched a professional speed run start to finish either mostly because I like discovering strategies on my own now, but even knowing these strategies won't help you with the learning curve on certain classics you still have to play very proficiently to pass a game like ninja Gaiden or Castlevania.

Why aren't you playing the original nes version? You know you're going to give yourself a heart attack trying to beat it without a real controller right?

Also you know that's the wrong weapon right? Unless you're only referring to the the small medusas then I guess it's okay.

"Professional" speedrunning isn't really a thing as such. Basically just beat the game as fast as you can without cheating. There are communities around certain games, they usually have a discord server, and speedrun.com is a good resource as well. I can answer specific questions around NES speedrunning since I've been around it for a few years now.

Well same here but I still think you got me beat by a lot since you play your owned games to pass them more than I ever do. Some games I still have yet to even play ..... But I did recently get a copy of resident evil operation raccoon city for 360 again and I'll be damned if I don't give it a real shot this time. Lol hopefully it's AS terrible as people say.

It used to help me want to play games when there were achievements for 360 but now that I haven't even ponied up money to get internet at the casa achievements aren't even link able on my 360 and Xbox One and there's a ton of achievements you have to play online to get.

I guess I needed incentives to play again lol. Maybe I'm not a true gamer anymore.

I didn't mean to imply people were getting paid to speed run more like they take it seriously. And are capable of times that are only possible if you literally "work" at it.

I do have some questions are there any speed runs for the mini games in Work time fun for the psp that you know of? Like I may have mentioned before it's pretty obscure but I may have a title in that game that I may be the only American player to have ever gotten. So maybe there is an alternate community for this game too? Idk it's a reach I know but that one mini game I may be one of the best in the world at idk.

I have another question what's the next big speed run project you want to take on besides Castlevania and are there any games you feel you have a legitimate shot to rank number one at speed running in?

I don't know that I've ever heard of a speedrun of WTF. You might want to ask the speedrun subreddit (warning: it's a little cancer-y in there) or the speedrun.com forums. It's not listed as a game in speedrun.com so who knows.

I don't know if I'm actually going to grind for a good time in Castlevania, it's a really tough game speed-wise, but after I get a time I'm happy with in Barbie, I'm going to go for sub-10 in Barbie Game Girl, because I'm a man of my word. Then I have to go back to Mario Tennis GBC because someone found a new strat and I want to try it. After that it'll probably be Crystal Warriors for the Game Gear. Of all those, Mario Tennis is probably the one I have best shot at for record.

It's easy to get caught up with the competition of speedrunning. I dont think i enjoy attempting to speed run though.

Too much time commitment and repetition, once finished I like to move to the next game, there is always a huge back log to get through.

I like the idea of thead-wide "local" speedrunning. I didn't ever make the "cut" for Ninja Gaiden which I may run again but it does take some dedication and setting time aside to do it, NG was kind of a boredom thing. Honestly I'm probably just going to focus on finishing Castlevania and maybe we can compare finish times, and if some competition springs up from that, that's fine.

Thanks for all the good advice sir!

And yeah I think you may have a serious shot at some of those games, I know they probably aren't as high profile so there's less of a chance that people have grinded them out as much.

And yeah I keep getting advice about checking Reddit and I plan to but the format isn't to my liking. Also if by cancer-y you mean trump supporters I would literally not be able to deal, but if it's just run of the mill internet nerds trash talking me I could probably hang.

That SNES fighting game homebrew dropped in price again to $20 Prime shipped. It seems like they vastly overestimated the market for SNES games. Most homebrew sell in the 10s. I wonder if they printed 1000s.

It might be steadily decreasing in price until someone actually buys them. I'm in at $10... which should take a week at this rate.

If you're counting computers like X68000, MSX probably fits the bill. SG-1000 might not have been super popular, but it's not like one of those consoles that got 9 games and failed.

I'd say the early Nec PCs were a raging success since we are counting PCs though. The FM Towns is pretty baller too.

I've never heard anyone in Europe talk about MSX. They're all Zed-Ex this and Zed-Ex that. They don't count. Apparently Argentina and Brazil were big into MSX too, but they were playing Master System games into the late 90s so they don't know anything about video games and they don't count either.

Sega SG-1000, baby! It did well enough to launch the Master System. And don't forget about the WonderSwan! Though that never really beat the Gameboy, for obvious reasons. But even that did well enough to spawn a colorized version that survived about two days until the GBA hit.

I wanted to buy this at 50, so 20 plus shipping on Amazon is still a pretty good price to me. I'm more curious to see if they learned any new tricks over the last 20 years for fighting games that they incorporated into this one.

I'd probably buy 3 or 4 at 10 dollars lol, but since I am happy to support company's that still support retro gaming I do feel ..... Not good about how this game has been received. Hopefully somebody notices this games release that likes it and posts it on their super trendy retro gaming YouTube channel 😊

It sounds like an underwhelming experience throttled by the SNES's hardware limitations. If it was originally a PAL developed title converted to "run" on US hardware that might explain some.

Yeah it didn't sound like they tried very hard to fix the mistakes as they were making them though either. Some people made it sound like they just didn't care about the final product but I have a feeling they were being too ambitious and then as you mentioned were hampered by the limitations of the system.

I could still see it being fun to play since my memories of snes fighting games outside of sf2 and mk2 weren't really all that great. But as someone else mentioned at some point ranma 1/2 was pretty fun. And I also liked fighters history and I thought there was a pretty cool version of world heroes on snes but perhaps I'm remembering it wrong.

That's what I was thinking but he didn't say 360.

In that case I know of these: Mushihimesama Futari, Espgaluda 2, MMP/Pink Sweets, DDP Resurrection, Eschatos, Ginga Force, Bullet Soul and Bullet Soul Infinite Burst. I think there are a bunch of other completely random ones but I can't see why those would matter as they were released in most regions anyway. Like I think PAL Alan Wake will play on a US 360 for example.

Well, the page was down so you missed the stream (unless you didn't!) but you're RIGHT ON TIME for the DVR, took Sonic Mania Steam Edition for a spin. I don't know whether Sega should be ashamed that fan kids can make a good Sonic game and they can't, or proud that they handed the IP to people who could get it done right. But this game is pretty stupid awesome, when I hit the Stage 2 boss I lost my crap in real life, screaming. Partly because I suck at the game and mostly because WHAT IN THE FUDGE, YOU CRAZY LITTLE CRAPS

I really need to pick some of these up, my Xbox collection is a joke right now. I owned Espgaluda 2 at one point, be sure you buy the original white label version, not the Limited Edition as only the regular edition is NOT region locked. It'll be the one that costs more if you are unsure when shopping. ;) One of my favorite shmups of all time that one is.

Not the best time to be buying them as they were going for peanuts when the plat hits versions were widely in stock from Japanese stores but a lot of them are very good. Also I forgot DDP Saidaioujou which is another really good one.

Imo I'd prioritize Mushihimesama Futari, Esp 2 and the DDPs. Oh and the ones released stateside are still pretty damn cheap. Deathsmiles and Akai Katana are good ones.

I mean, assuming it is actually Edmund McMillen (assuming Tommy Refenes has found something else to do by now), technically he hasn't really made a bad game before, so maybe it'll be okay. Unless he handed the IP to someone else while he was working on The End is Nigh.

I'm worried.

I'm sure they won't screw it up. It looks good despite the punching and it looks like it doesn't really affect the flow of the game. I'm sure they felt a new mechanic was needed to make it a new game. Plus the graphics look pretty good.

And yes, commander Video was in Super Meat Boy. I have yet to play bit trip runner or any of the other guest characters original games from Super Meat Boy but I have been wanting a vita copy of lrg runner and I can't remember which game little Gish is from but I liked him too and wouldn't mind if they ever did a compilation game with all those titles on it.

Ah. Suddenly that makes a lot of sense! I miss the days when Tommy made games that were pulled from the iOS marketplace specifically for making fun of that marketplace's performance in the gaming world. And telling everyone he could that iOS App Store was cancer.

Apparently they have adapted. Maybe it's fun though! Who knows.

Good to know the modwork is well done. And yeah...that PCFX I sold to Noid (pretty much at my cost for all of it) was like $60 to ship from Japan to me. Unless you want seamail, heavier consoles are going to cost a pretty penny on shipping alone.

Yes, retro games like Shovel Night and VVVVVV that are imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past.

Yep. I went deep in the gosh darn Twitch mines awhile back when I was a bit depressed. For awhile watching card game streams is something I was doing for 2+ hours a night.

How can you possibly be depressed when you have beautiful, magical, and wonderful VIDEO GAMES!! All joking aside, I hope things're better now, Gypsy. I was absolutely miserable for two and a half -- almost three full -- years. So, my heart definitely breaks for you, buddy. broken heart

I'll tell you this, though; I'm gonna have a massively manic high once that NEC PC-FX gets here! I cannot wait to start playing some massively FMV-infused goodness this weekend! By the way, does this lot happen to include a power cable and audio/video cord? I totally forgot to ask... raspberry

Mobile Light Force proves cute anime girl or shooty space shooter art is everything. MLF is $10, Gunbird is $45.

Twitch has more or less replaced TV for me. I have a bunch of friends I've made from Twitch as well. It's an interesting place.

You mean to tell me the US market doesn't like Charlies Angels but prefer little cartoon girls on brooms?

I'm fine now.

The power cord is integrated and it uses generic audio/video cables. So http://www.ebay.com/itm/RCA-HIGH-PERFORMANCE-DIGIT... or just a composite cable. You will also need an RCA audio cable. I just assumed you'd have these on hand.

The only thing I watch on TV is sports. If NFL games ever just stream online for free legally in high quality I very well might never actually watch tv. I do watch tv shows, but via dvd/blu or downloaded episode files.

I think there may be one or two instances I know of where the English cover art is better than its Japanese counterpart; but, honestly, none of them are springing to mind. dead face

Oh yeah, I have cable specifically for live sports as well, but I don't even really watch TV shows anymore, apart from a select few.

i have been getting more into twitch, but there are several channels ive followed on youtube for some time. there are a few shows i watch but i Netflix them, like Arrow and the Flash i watch with the kids. and we will watch young justice when season 3 comes, but that will be on the dc streaming service, so that's not "on tv" either. i have only the very basic channel pack because i need the cable internet but i think now you don't have to have tv at all to get internet with them so im gonna see about cutting it and just upping my internet package.

I've found that the original is just about always best. Japanese covers of some Western developed games look completely ridiculous for instance.

While my appetite for Internet videos that focus primarily on video games is practically insatiable, I don't really care much for Twitch. Watching someone just play through a video game is okay and all every now and then; but, most of the time, I crave so much more than that. I guess I prefer content that's a little meatier and more substantial with quality direction and execution.

If I'm watching something by myself, it's almost exclusively YouTube. Recently, some -- just some, mind you, 'cause there's plenty more where this came from -- of my favorite channels to watch are:

Bad GraFx Gamers
CGRundertow
Cygnus Destroyer/The LJN Defender
Dongled
The Game Chasers
Game Sack
Hard4Games
Lord Karnage
My Life in Gaming
Pat the NES Punk
SNES drunk
VideoGameTakeOut
World 1-1

The foreign cover for Karnaaj Rally looks ridiculous compared to our classic guy going ARRGHGHH cover.
