new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Would that "mini coaster" be playable on any ol', standard-issue Nintendo GameCube like the Sega Dreamcast or would modifications first have to be made? surprise

I will be the first to admit getting an SD card set and ready for either Recalbox or RetroPi is way more obnoxious than most scrubs have any patience for, it's a crap show. I will say, however, that once you have one set up, it's pretty beast. I can add games to Recalbox right from my browser, restart the Pi and it's good to go. The biggest downside to this particular brand of Pi emulator front-end is that you need to have system BIOS files for a lot of the interesting stuff, like Sega CD, 32X, FDS, PCE Super CD and the like and tracking those down can be legitimately crapty.

On that note if anyone's like "I got this emulator on my PC and I don't know how to make it nice" hit me up. Most of the ones like FCEUX and GENS/KEGA are super easy to get rolling.

@DiamondDave Super CD works? I know that's usually a problem. Honestly I have emulators on a lot of stuff that I had my brother set-up for me but I never play them. I kinda run into the same issue with flash carts but right now I'm trying my hardest to not start anything but Luminous Arc when I fire up my DSi.

Sell that crap, don't make your parents clear out a closet full of games you haven't touched in ten years when you get hit by a bus, that is so humiliating, then we see some nerf herder on the Steals thread saying "I GOT $900 WORTH OF CRAP FOR $25" and it's all your fault.

Yeah, I still need to give it a shot and figure out what they're looking for in a disc image for emulating but in THEORY it should work fine. The initial set-up on getting Recalbox up and running is arduous but once it's there, you just pick a game and it plays it, mostly fine. Still have issues with the left and right sides of NES games getting clipped but that's about the worst thing I've run into, everything else runs pretty much perfectly without any additional input necessary.

PCE/Supergrafx alone, works perfectly.

Sadly, I have neither the mental nor technical expertise to do any of what you just mentioned. Believe me, too, when I confirm that I'm not somehow bragging about my own limitations; I'd love nothing more than to be able to download video games from the Internet and play them on a neat 'n' tidy lil' contraption I pieced together. But, alas, none of that's to be for me. That's why something like the NES -- Classic Edition (Nintendo Entertainment System) is SOOO appealing to me. smile

Sounds rad but I can't see fooling with it myself when I have emus on Wii, Xbox and PSP that I never use anyway.

@Lunar Recalbox for life. They're essentially the same thing but Recalbox is practically hands-off when it's in place, the most configuring you do is the input device when you first run it and then uploading files to it through the web browser interface when you wanna add crap like emulation functionality (BIOS files mostly) or ROMs. Once you upload stuff to it, you reboot it and you're off. The WebGUI for uploading crap to the Pi is super slick, I fudge you not.

lol, its really not that bad, ive got ps2 games looking like ps3 level on the pc and several systems looking like a generation forward or better on the shield tv and it was actually pretty easy and im not as technical as I was back in the day at all. its mostly drop down menus and clicking options in something like pcsx2. ETAprime and simply Austin on youtube have great vids and make it pretty easy. if you are looking for the bios files which can be pretty hard to find at times like DD said there are usually links to such things somewhere in the vid description or comments. 3ds emulation has now come a long way too, and ps3/360 even is making progress when the thought was we wouldn't have that for years, its a ways out yet, but wii u is already good too, they've even got BotW running.

i'll post some pics of DQ8 later, its beyond gorgeous at 1080+

Other $15 games have had a $10 physical release tax, so probably $25. Sometimes they get a $5 bonus LRG tax like Night Trap and are $30.

LRG charges $25 or digital price plus $10, whichever costs more. Reason why Night trap costed $5 more was because of the extra goodies they included.
