new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

So I played Castlevania a tiny bit this morning and went back to ninja Gaiden this afternoon and I got through the first three bosses to stage 4-1 before I died the first time.

I think Castlevania has really sharpened my playing of Ninja Gaiden also.

Right now it's on pause on my retron on 5-1 but yeah I really need to beat it again. Hopefully today but idk.

Yes all PC. I also have a Yoke that I picked up cheap at a garage sale this summer so I can pretty much play just about any flight sim now. I've been trying out different ones.

I haven't given up on scaling. I have the most powerful one now afterall.

But AVS wasn't a true Nintendo system anyway, plus it's the one system with (near perfect) emulation.

Yes, I had EDs, but got rid of most of them. Then I reacquired them, SD2SNES and MEDX5.

I was just talking to a few peeps, and I think I realized I like playing more than collecting. I have been focusing on the wrong aspect of this hobby.

I have no idea, on the NT mini but I don't see why they won't work if they work on AVS.

Yes, I have tried both the Famicom and NES N8 which work fine. The 8bitdo wireless adapters do work fine with the console but there is just enough lag there to make them unusable for me on most games. I will also say that both the wireless adapater and regular controller plugs on port 1 are very tight.

Must be the @DiamondDave influence. Not that I even disagree. Some people do get enjoyment out of the actual collecting aspect. I've always been willing to download and do a lot of collecting and playing now. Back when I was in school and had no money I had huge stacks of PS2 and Dreamcast burns. I have a stupidly large PS2 collection now (not even all listed on my collection here) and I pretty much got rid of all the burns but these days my Saturn and PCE burn stacks are growing. It's great to explore the libraries of these two systems without dropping the inane amounts of money it would require.

Saw a few threads about it not supporting saves so I wondered if that made the emulated games not compatible to save to the console's memory bank or not.

I'm not sure which games save to the console and which save to the cart, I just presume cart saves wouldn't work as the game code would be looking for a memory bank on the card which wouldn't exist. RPG's were my obvious concern.

Yeah, but the system battery backed RAM is what holds the save data. HuCard games used the Tennokoe, not sure if TED spoofs that or not.

I get it now, only the CD's save to the internal bank and the cards (that support save) don't use this method at all? So if cards only save to the card itself then those games likely won't have save support when using the everdrive?

IIRC only the Rom/Ram stuff has that kind of capability, so things like the Tennokoe bank and, maybe, populous.

Beat NG3 on Famicom. It's another excellent game like the first, No BS weather gimmicks or overwhelming enemies in favor of smart placement like the second game had. Going to try the NES version but will probably get annoyed at it now.

I wasn't actually looking into this exact issue, but I did see the answer to this question earlier tonight.

Nintendo of America required more than games to be licensed. The crash of '83 caused more restrictions from NoA, one of which was that only Nintendo would make carts. This was not the case in Japan (hence the variety of cases). But, this also meant that many of the extra chips were not supported by NoA, including Konami's VRC2 chip. Having to rely solely on Nintendo's mappers (or, really, lack of them) resulted in quite a bit being cut out of the US release of Contra. Not just animations, but whole cut scenes, an overworld map, and a few other things.

Limited continues, everything does more damage, more enemies, power ups in less useful locations. Sounds like the fun police got to it.
