new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is brand:::PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Any interest in a boxed Altered Beast Genesis 1 Non-TMSS model with some assorted boxed Genesis stuff on the side, throw in an SD cart? The box and Altered Beast (and the case and the cart) aren't really in fantastic condition, but you know, moderately presentable.

Also have some boxed NES games I'll likely be liquidating, need to fundraise for a trade I just pended.

Did you guys see the Super Nt is shipping with a Director's Cut edition of Super Turrican now? It's just a ROM built into the console (you also get Super Turrican 2 which is pretty cool IMO).

The funniest part is it comes with an empty box so you can put it on your shelf and pretend you have this game that doesn't exist. What is it with companies putting out empty boxes? The appeal of physical games isn't just having crap to display on a shelf.

Ask anyone who's hoarded games over the decades and you'll understand how mistaken you are. $50-200 reproductions and an actual, flourishing market for producing "real-looking" bootlegs demonstrate how mistaken you are.

Just come to the understanding that our hobby is now vile and soulless and propagated by disgusting dumpster trolls who take more pictures of their shelves than they play games anymore. That will help to explain how the empty box is included in your $200 fake SNES.

I must have misplaced that memo somewhere. I'm here to play cool games and maybe talk about them. I'd much rather spend time extolling the virtues of Revenge of the Gator than read someone's brag post about how they spent more on their fake Pulseman than I spent on my real one just so they have one to display.

Doesn't matter, for 90% of both of your libraries I'm imagining nothing gets touched either way. Assuming you're both gainfully employed, over 21 and enjoy some small amount of socializing.

Hoarding is everything wrong with the aftermarket right now.

Sort of on topic, people selling "Custom" manuals for insane amounts?

I ran across this posting last night, and was floored. 73 dollars for a fake SNES manual? And people actually buy these? Scrolling through this seller's sold listings, I could not believe people were paying so much for these print outs. Am I missing something? Should I buy a nice printer ASAP and start selling fake manuals?

Hip hip hooray! Wait... is this something really to cheer over? Not that I have much room to talk...

As for repros, I only buy them cheaply. I don't pretend they're the real thing, and if there is a real game, I won't repro it.

Yeah, this is what I meant. No worrying about weird things, and yeah, a flashcart might be more practical for a bunch, but I still like the look of the games on my shelves. I've got legit SFC carts for a bunch of them also, so...

Just recently that guy on facebook happily buying bootlegs for $20 a pop off Etsy used the logic that it's easier on his wallet and looks just as good on his shelf.

I'll be sure to report on it. The decent looking PCE compatible sticks are just so pricey. I can't remember if I got a PS1/2 connector for my custom stick or not but PS1 sticks are a dime a dozen so it's not a big issue.

I honestly like the TG16/PCE controllers. I feel like they are more comfortable than their NES counterparts. Also when browsing that website I saw the Famicom Doctor 6+ I just won that thing in an auction and had no idea what to do with it. Now I will use it's adapter on my TG-16.

That is a great point. Thinking about it what is you guys favorite retro controller? I am leaning towards the Sega Saturn model 2 controller but also really like the Dual Shock 1.

My favorite controllers to use are the NES brick, SNES, and second Saturn controller. PCE d-pads are too tiny. Genesis controllers themselves are either too big or too small. Lots of terrible ones besides those few.

Pretty crisp boxes, small tear on Dr. Mario on one side and some crusty tape holding Mendel Palace that I just took off that has left slightly crusty residue on the box but overall I'd put these boxes at G/VG+ or better . Everything but Air Fortress includes manual, but Air Fortress DOES include a HAL Poster and the Nintendo Power yellow card inside.

Mmm.... eBay pricing, about the lowest general price I could find on everything was $195 (I'm sure I spent more), but I think I might be able to do a steal price on these within reason. If interested, please send an offer. Just keep in mind, graciously if you will, that I'm trying to come up with $280ish total and the more I get back on this stuff the less stuff I'll have to sell off! But obviously $195's way more than I'd ask for.
