new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is brand:::PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Last night I put about 30 minutes into MMX and holy crap did the memories flood back. It's been 10+ years at least since I played the game, but it was so much fun.

My order was like this:

Penguin + Dash,
Elephant + Heart,
Eagle + Helmet,
Returned to elephant to get boosted charge shot

I'll be picking it back up some today to continue, but man what a blast it is - great call on the game of the month

looking for a white dslite. I have one with a box but my screen has a little motion blur. Someone on gamefaqs said they tested when I asked and they think it's my screen.

I'll buy a brand new one if I have to. Prefer to just get a very clean one in excellent shape.

Probably got left out to ice one day or it got hot. It won't get fixed. LCDs are fickle doges.

I don't expect it to get fixed. I bought it off ebay as brand new open box. Granted the system did feel very new and untouched. However it's likely the guy noticed the defect right away and didn't touch it again and decided to sell it as unused. Which it virtually was.

It's not bad. It's not something most people would even notice. It takes something like a 2D top down game like chrono trigger and focusing on the background as you move. So it's a working DS, just with a minor screen flaw. I'll likely sell it as such when I get a new DSlite.

I might want to buy a cheap loose one just to confirm before I invest in another new one. or if I get lucky enough to come across a loose on that's in excellent shape.

Unfortunate part of old sealed product, you have no idea what environment it was stored in, even if it looks good. HAD YOU PRACTICE SCHRODINGER'S CAT TACTICS YOU'D NEVER HAVE KNOWN

If you buy sealed old product you should really stick to your guns and just not screw with it. I speak from experience. It's just a bummer, you really have no way of telling what's gone on over the years/decades.

Before you go buying a replacement, please watch this video
here. These guys are absolutely amazing and super informative. While this particular content's primarily focused on the brand:::Game Boy Advance, it does mention the brand:::Nintendo DS and I believe it even touches on your very issue! Let me know what you think!! smiley:::smile

It's really incredibly popular. I think in the times I've had it for sale/trade here it probably holds the top 2 most replies in thread and via pm for anything I've listed.

Back in 1994, brand:::Sega had just released Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Genesis) and, thanks to a tie-in with McDonald's, Sonic-mania had taken over everyone's favorite Happy Meal. As a matter of fact, on the side of the box, a mail-in sweepstakes gave me the chance to win a brand new copy of said video game. Sure enough, six to eight weeks later, a random package arrived for me and there it was. But, at the time, my allegiance wasn't to the brand:::Sega Genesis; all I had was a brand:::Super Nintendo. So, my mom took me to Toys 'R' Us, returned it, and I picked out EarthBound (Super Nintendo) instead. The rest, they say, is history! smiley:::grin

I can't wait until I'm a real game collector. The only remaining things I need are a Youtube channel and a big Earthbound box on the shelf behind me and I'll be pretty much set.

My early video game memories of my Dad buying a few games here and there for my at Toys R Us. Back in the 80s/90s. They had game rows, and tons of flip over laminated cards on the shelf where you could flip over and see game screenshots. And you would take a slip at the checkout then go to the highly barricaded game whatever it's called and they would bring your game to you. You can see videos on youtube about vidya game shopping at TRU in the past.

And since we seem to be telling video game stories. I remember the first game I wanted for SNES was Final Fantasy II. I wanted that because I had played a FEW RPGs and had good experiences. DW, DW2, DW4, Final Fantasy. But it was after FFII that I became a true RPG Lover. The Music, characters, and story delighted me to no end.

It just so happened that I fell in love at just the right time. Because then proceeded a decade + of the golden age of console RPGs.

Don't forget you need an OSSC, framemeister, or DVDO hooked up to each TV. Some collector's even use TWO ON THE SAME TV!!! @Lunar

I remember those days. They would also have contests to win shopping sprees and I would dream about how many of those slips I could grab...

My other TRU memory is that is where I preordered my N64 and they were one of the places that released them early.

You might have a CRT, but do you have an honorary CRT on the shelf? Bonus points if it's an extremely tiny, miscalibrated PVM that you say "still looks amazing with just composite!"

I have two TV's I really never use, a big projection Wega that tops out at 1080i, and an absolute monster of a CRT, 36" I believe, that I keep on a rolling thing on the floor because there is no way in hell I could move it on my own. there is also still about a 20-ish inch one hanging in my sons room on one of those old style wall units, ya know the ones with the big platform it sits on and you have to strap it to it.
