new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Galaxy Force and Wonder Boy Dragon's Trap are left for CIBs. I also need manuals for Aerial Assault and Golden Axe Warrior.

Then I'll need to go through all my games and try to get US version of a few, I know California Games is one I somehow wound up with an EU version. I've decided not to go after the US UPC sticker versions, because that just seems too semantic to me.

Part of the reason I'm not very interested in a SMS set is because of how common the European versions are, and how they're basically the same (manual orientation, bar code, big whoop). The other reason I'm not interested is because SMS sucks.

Blackthorne is a reasonably good game but the SNES port is better. The other games are terrible.

I have Blackthorne, actually. But yeah, the other 2 are still needed. I just closed out Brutal, Toughman, and Wrestlemania. Otherwise, I still just need Pitfall, Primal Rage, and T-Mek with those. Oh, and the EU exclusive FIFA 96, and JP exclusives Darxide and San Goku Shi 4. Those will take a little longer... And I think there are still a couple of 32X CD games, too...

Yeah, collecting's a dog. But if anyone has any of them cart only that they'd consider selling or trading, you know where to find me...

I didn't bother with the JP/EU exclusives. Darxide is literally impossible to find and Sangokushi 4 is always like $200. I think the only 32X/CD game I had trouble finding was Supreme Warrior.

I'm guessing you meant Surgical Strike? Supreme Warrior was easy for me to find, but all I see of the other is repros. And of course, I decided to poke around and saw a relatively cheap SGS4, so I had to bite on that. Ah well...

Okay, retro peeps, I need some help. Nothing with cost (I hope), just some troubleshooting.

I finally got my Gen/SCD/32X monstrosity hooked up, but it's not working right. The CD drive works normally, and plays games with no problem. But if a cart is inserted, forget it. I can sometimes get the loading copyright to flash briefly (maybe 1/10 of a second) on the screen, but then it stays black, and I hear nothing. Bypassing the 32X and playing with the cart will sometimes get me a picture, but not always with sound. I'm guessing something is wrong with the cart slot on the Genesis, but I don't know if there's something else, or if there's a quick fix, or...? Anyone with some sage advice?

@dunno001, do you have another Genny to test? If a cart is inserted, it will always boot cart and not CD.

I do not. I do have an extra 32X, ironically, but it's not seeming like the source of the problem. But if a cart is inserted, it will, 100% of the time, try to boot from the cart.

Clean the cart slot with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush, mascara brush, whatever. Use a clean cart, wet the edge connector with Deoxit (D100L is the 20% baller crap, D5 is diluted to 5% but is way cheaper and still works) and jam it in and out of the cart slot a bunch of times. Leave it for a few minutes, the solvent evaporates, the anticorrosion stuff stays behind and keeps working. If you follow it up with Deoxit Gold, it leaves some lubricant contact protector goo behind too but I don't use it personally.

Sounds like a dirty cart slot to me. If the genesis portion wont even play carts reliably then start there. As far as the 32x unit typically the only thing you need to watch out for, other than a bad connection to the genesis, are the 2 white ribbons inside. Sometimes those just need to be reseated if you are getting random freezes or restarts.

Okay, I'll have to try the cleaning, I've still got some stuff from way back when. Next, though, is a new issue, perhaps for @Lunar , or some other RGB folks. I have a SNES model 1 hooked up, and the picture color itself is nice, but it's grainier than RF, and the volume is near mute. Using the RF gets rid of the grain and produces sound at normal volume.

(Now I see why I put off doing this for so long...)
