Thread Description This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.
- WTTF/WTB/LF - What you think is awesome game/series/whatever - Potential games you have up for trade - Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever - Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection
I'm going to have a disc only FE Radiant Dawn coming in if anybody is looking for one, will cut a good deal. Going to pick up a misc. lot on fb marketplace and the dude says he has more I can look through. Planning on flipping what he had listed for the CIB TMNT Hyperstone Heist that's been sitting at my local gameshop for a while.
@lunar is there a Valhalla Knights Eldar Saga for in that shelf?
also i dont mind at all if you trade radiata stories after you play it, i knew somehow before assignments even came out i would get you in SS (need to get a lotto ticket lol) and that i would get you that one in addition to whatever else since we were talking a little ways back about rpgs from that era and how they may no longer hold the same magic for you, but if that one doesnt then its probably true lol.
of course dont let it detract you from its holiness. Ciri isnt going to find herself, villagers need help with contracts, that gwent deck isnt gonna build itself, the elf girl at the passiflora needs money for the week and hundreds of other things.

I would have sent Eldar Saga to you if I did have it.
Sigh yea, I need a distraction free state to try all these games one at a time. In my head, its like I want to play them all, so I want to keep them all. I think its better to sell cheap and buy it back one by one AFTER I have time for them(which will prob be never)
I was at walmart today and was having a discussion with myself on whether I should continue paying on my layaway of the switch. My wife asked me why I was worrying about it. I just said, "not sure how much that leaves me for lunar?"
Hopefully they got you on something that agrees with you. 😊 I know it will get better for you soon sir it has to. And always remember to acknowledge even the smallest victories as positive affirmations.

Thanks! Though, I think I've been a carrier all my life and it's only recently that I've finally developed full-blown symptoms of the disease. Still, it feels good to talk openly about this. "Hi. My name is Hunter and I take the cosmetic condition of my video games to strange and unhealthy levels."
First dibs here for games. Most of these are cheap, for an idea of value, just take GameValueNow and subtract 20%. Just send offers or PM, I just want these gone and will cut deals. I can always quote if you are not sure of value.

It is. I ain't even gonna lie I love that girl. I can't believe I missed it in there lol. I'm still not sure about this new direction for her I miss the Sparks fly/fearless/red style. If I could have like any one famous chick to let me be a house husband it would be her.
@Gypsy (or any other PC people). You have a choice between a floppy original release and a CD Rom rerelease (like with Castles II), what do you choose? The CD release is usually cheaper, has extra content, and is probably easier to play not having to worry about dead floppies. The original is more collectible though. I'm usually going CD release. I've been picking up a few bundles with games I want like Leisure Suit Larry Collection Series just to save shelf space.
Cleared the first Sigma stage, on to the next one!
@Lunar I had such a hard time with Mega Man X2 back in the day that I wrote Capcom asking for help. They sent me a postcard and a hint list for all 3 available (at the time) MMX games. Those pieces of mail are of course long gone now, but I have pretty much memorized Mega Man X's boss weakness list. If anyone wants help, I will share what information I have.
Thanks sailor, but I'm good. Just gotta spend some more time with MMX, not too much time for game play this month. But I'm going to set aside 3 or so hours and hopefully beat it since its closing in on the end of the month.

I got mixed feelings about the new album. Its like she's trying to find herself. I like all 3 of those albums and also 1989, its too poppy but I don't mind. Some songs on Fearless are too country for me heh

ya i loved fearless too, but this is texas i grew up around and like a lot of country music, but not the new pop/bro country music. (florida georgia line, whatever luke bryan has become, jason aldean singing the same song every time he makes one and yet no one seems to realize it etc.) i miss 90s style country, and of course love the classics like waylon and willie, merle and hank jr etc.
i liked 1989 a lot, i felt that was just pop enough for her, style is one of my faves from her and still being HER, kinda like when Shania did this in the 90s, but Taylor's been more successful on the pop side, actually releasing multiple pop albums. this new album really feels like a huge experiment, like shes so big it will be successful anyway but if it ended up getting panned she could just change the next one, but the reviews seem pretty good, i need to find time to listen to the whole thing and collect thoughts.
i wish she would include some sparks fly era type stuff every now and then but it would be out of place on these latest records.
I'm such a purist, I need to play the original carts on cloned hardware that play the games imperfectly and worse than emulation does (I enjoy Supaboy, which stretches games out to widescreen aspect with no option to use original aspect ratio!), mostly I just need people on the bus to see some dork playing a handheld with an NES cart sticking out the top
Any of you wonderful folks have any Switch games for trade....I'm trying to track a few for my bro for Christmas...yes starting early.... I've got a ton of unlisted stuff so I'll gladly check your wanted lists.
amazon has some pretty good cyber Monday stuff up if you are looking for the particular things they have. third party switch ac adapater for 16 bucks, wolfenstein 2 for 25, some other stuff. nothing earth shattering but if you wanted it anyway.
@lunar I have that grandia 2 on steam, haven't played yet. id say get it but you have witching to do and you already have the DC unless you plan on trading the ps2 and dc versions in which case id say DOOOOO IT!!! lol but you know im all about getting that digital and making space.
I mean, I don't necessarily think it was a good choice, but it was a literal translation of the Japanese name (シャドー・ダンサー ザ・シークレット・オブ・シノビ, Shadō dansā za shīkuretto obu shinobi) word for word, which could be applauded I suppose for the attempt. A more normalized name option might have been Shinobi: The Shadow Dancer. The original Arcade game made no mention of Shinobi in the title but it was known to be the last in the trilogy.
So here I am talking about VP50 and just found out I had my VP20 set for 480p. It's on 1080p now and yep I can tell a difference. overall it looks better but there are a few scenes were straight 480p output looked better.
> Well, remember, 480p's better for 480p sources (Dreamcast, PS2), long as your TV
> supports it which it obviously does
Why would that be? Your TV has to upscale it to 1920x1080 anyway, wouldn't the video processor do that better? Also what has the video processor doing to the video if it's just taking 480p and not upscaling it?
It can vary, specifically I was thinking of how, for instance, forcing the HDMI-modded GC to 240p can actually significantly improve the visual clarity of Gameboy Advance video output as some of the automatic scaling and processing done by the HDMI native 480p output actually introduces graphical inconsistencies. Keep in mind any scaling/doubling, regardless of processing, will take away some of the original clarity, so keeping the output as close to the source as possible when you can if supported will always produce better results.
It has varied in Xenosaga. There are times I like it better. But others for instance Kosmos' face looks off color and weird when in DVDO 1080p mode. So there are times when the less aggressive upscaling of the TV is preferable. I think there are some games it can look better, for now I'm switching back. But I'm def gonna test it out on future games I play.
A third copy of Huge Insect on NES just hit Ebay in the past month. The story goes that a small group of collectors ordered an extremely small run (30? 40?) in the 2000s which were the only copies made. I don't know if I believe it's really low double digits rare, but it's interesting to see so many for how rare it's supposed to be.
Batman & Harley Quinn - $6 Teen Titans: The Judas Contract - $6 Fate of the Furious 4K - $9 Uncharted 4 - $20 Yakuza 0 - $30 Horizon- $20 CoD: WW2 - $40 PS+ - $40 Persona 5 - $30 Wolfenstein 2 - $25 South Park: Fractured But Whole - $35 Wolfenstein 2-Pack Shipped To the Wrong Fudging Store - $14 Uncharted Collection - $14 Injustice 2 - $20 AC: Ezio Collection - $20 Mortal Kombat X - $8 PS4 Pro with Battlefront II and Final Fantasy XV - $400
I spent about $400 that I shouldn't have. I'm definitely thinking about letting that Gamecube HDMI/Xeno modded system go again.

Last night I had to take some pics of my "retro" gaming area, so after cleaning it and setting it up I ended up taking some time to hook up a system and play for a bit.
Of course I went to my go-to Duo-R and surfed the everdrive for a bit, and ended up putting about an hour into "Terra Cresta II".
Have any of you guys tried this game? At first I was meh on it, but it was addicting and heck and the graphics have some really cool moments - and the tunes pump you into playing rythem. Loosing powerups is a game stopper, but the continue system is forgiving enough to allow you to at least attempt the worlds over again. It's got a cool world and sub stage setup, with continues starting you at the first world, forcing you to get through each world on one credit.
This is on my list of games to try and beat for sure now.
I was almost regretting my decision to region mod my Duo as it was making the turbo everdrive all wonky, but then I tried putting the ED in PCE mode and its been smooth sailing. Probably something to do with how the region mod works and how an everdrive isn't really a product built to oe spec. That would have been horrible if I lost the usefulness of that though.
>> That's weird. I have no desire to region switch a system again, but that's good
> Who would want to play TG16 games anyway.
TG16 was the first system I was given as a kid that was not a shared system with siblings. I got it with Bonk, Vigilante, Fantasy Zone, and Parasol Stars. I still love playing those games to this day, and although I can use my TED in the Duo-R to play them I would hope this is the group that would understand the nostalgia of taking those games off the shelf that I played with as a kid and playing them today. Even though 9/10 times I use the everdrive, I'd rather keep my TG16 boxed and away for now and just pop those games in my Duo R.
I don't have an issue with my everdrive on my Duo-R. I've not tried it on my TG16 but on my PCE-CoreGrafx2 I can't get it to work. Version 2.2, first revision I think.
Weird, never had any TED issues with the Coregrafx systems. I used v1, v2.1 and v2.3 I believe on the blue and orange Coregrafx systems.
I do know it's heavily recommended that you keep the TEDs in place since they're not meant for repeated ejection/insertion, probably wears out or mis-spaces the connecting bus over time. Might be related.

Possibly; this is a new system I got a good deal on so I grabbed it to put in my office for testing my homebrew, but was surprised when I could not get the TED 2.2 to boot on it. official PCE works great on it, but I do try to just leave the TED in my Duo-R.
I'll get her figured out, I plan on modding the crap out of this little guy anyways, and someday want to get the "wont burn your system up" everdrive that will inevitably be released
Really been thinking about getting a SNES everdrive, anyone able to give me their opinion on the Super EverDrive v2 vs the SD2SNES? Seems like the Super Everdrive would do all I need it to, the extras on the SD2SNES seem nice but not worth the ~100 price difference.
Save 10% on any purchase of $25.00 or more by using the code PHOLIDAY10 at eBay's checkout. The maximum savings will not exceed $50.00. This may be used no more than twice per account. The sale ends 12/03/2017.
Got a sick deal on CL today. Needed a case for a PC build and there was a listing for an NZXT Phantom also with a processor and a motherboard. The listing had been up for about 2 weeks. Given that I offered $30 on the case (listed at $40) and they mentioned that while the processor sold they still had the motherboard (ROG Maximus VI) and if I paid the $40 I could just have it, as they wanted it gone. Well lol okay, easy decision there.

TBH I thought I had the disc but I could not find it, and it is so cheap (~7 on ebay) I figured I might as well try to get her a complete copy as a gift. I'll hit ebay later today after making a couple WTB threads here (https://gametz.com/Vintage_Games/wtb-tomb-raider-p...)

I actually mentioned to here there are a lot of cleaned up and improved versions of the same game available on various platforms in HD and whatnot, but she was insistent she wanted to see if she could beat the same game she couldn't as a kid.
> Shouldn't be hard to find. Prob easier to go with a digital copy but seeing its a

Yeah easier for digital but like you said, I want to wrap it and surprise her
I get so much crap that people list as "like new/mint" and I hesitate to rip them a new one when it comes in as obvious good/vg because luckily I really don't care. If I were someone else I'd just, well, you know. But most people on eBay represent their products incorrectly.
I listed some games on ebay if anyone's interested. Buy it on here and I'll obviously do a better price than on ebay. Some interesting and rare titles for PS1, Saturn, SMS, Xbox etc. Getting more listed soon.
> So on MMX, I am getting pounded by the first spider on sigmas stage, any tips?
The "first" spider? (Is there more than one?!?)
Before almost every boss there's a place to refill all your energy containers by turning on your armadillo shield and just running into animals that fly at you and keep running back and forth to spawn them. You can also get up to 9 lives this way.
When the spider lands he opens a red spot for a split second you have to shoot him as its open. I just use mega buster on him and charge it until I think he will land, idk if there's a better weapon since I'm still not totally finished. Also sorry if anyone already replied I don't like spoilers so I didn't want to scroll past your message. I'm trying to figure it out on my own.

Haha woops. I updated the photo, but yeah I hope so, I've never officially asked someone, but I would hope I am not breaking any rules having a brew after hours while I beat a game at the office

> This time, everyone has 1 vote. Pick from these or your own choice.
> 1. Pulse Man
> 2. Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi
> 3. Final Fight CD
I vote Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi!
Happy with any of these though. I haven't played a full game on my new sound system in the game center, so I am stoked to bust out the megafrankendrive, because I frigging love bumping those genesis tunes!
The only of these I have physical is Final Fight, which I had as a kid and loves but never could get through. Is it easier two player?
I have heard of Pulse Man, but know little to nothing about of it, and will try to remember to check it out on the EverDrive if it is not picked .
I have never played Shadow Dancer. I have also never beaten a Shinobi. In Revenge I was able to get pretty far, and have been to the end in III, both of which I own. The EverDrive will demo it for me if Shadow Dancer gets picked. I have heard Shadow Dancer is different than the rest of the series, but is also easier to beat, so I imagine it would make a good month playthrough, or maybe it is too easy.
Shared this in the Find of the Week thread, but I was able to purchase just the 2 disc case and back art for Lunacy for $25 the other day, which completes my loose copy + manual I received awhile back in my Lunar Mystery Box I was thrilled as I anticipated it being a loose copy forever. Also couldn't resist a boxed model 2 I am guessing the same person traded in. The box is in crap shape, but had all the inserts/manuals and plastic bags still.
I voted for Final Fight CD mainly because I have Final Fight One for GBA and I would just play that instead. You guys know me, once I want a game (and I'm not against buying Shadow Dancer) but it takes a few months or more before an acceptable copy comes up at a reasonable price. So I can never play these game of the months unless I already have the game.
PCEFX secret santa pretty dope again this year. Got The New Zealand Story (PCE game) AND Lupin the 3rd Fuma Conspiracy LD. Never seen this movie (and I love Lupin) or played this game before, which is pretty cool.

Damn an ancient anime laserdisc, it's like the perfect gift for you. The only thing I know about Lupin III is the Cliff Hanger arcade game (funnily enough also a LD game), but I'm pretty sure they just stole and repurposed existing animation unless Lupin III stars a guy named Cliff fighting against the evil Count Draco.

Yeaaah, they know me so well. I said I'd be fine with the DVD too, but it's stupidly priced so I don't blame them for getting the LD. Lupin is just like, super fun anime. I prefer the movies and specials to the shows. This release was during the awkward period where they couldn't call him Lupin in the west (thanks French butt-hole) so it actually says Rupan on it. I'm gonna watch this movie tonight.
lol, I didn't even see that one, I figured after the first few that they'd all make some effort to look like the real thing. See, if they ALL looked like that, I'd be like "Okay. He's an artist, I get it." But more than half of them are just griftworks, you'd have to read or not be retarded (tall order these days) to not know that they weren't actually legit disc-only titles.
MMX isn't hard once you find the boss weaknesses. It's just a little tedious to find them all. Or you could just look up the boss order you purist. I got pwned by everything with the X buster. I like that replaying the levels isn't pointless because of all the stuff to find.

I beat 3 of 8 bosses with just the Mega Buster. Storm Eagle was the first boss I beat and then the Octopus I beat with just the Mega Buster. Of course I beat Chill Penguin with it as well and I think the first time I beat the Electric Mandrill too was with it.
> Storm Eagle is a pussy, I don't think I tried him with the X Buster. Do his attacks
> even deal damage, or only his dives?
Actually IF you don't already have the dash he isn't easy since you have to position yourself in such a way that you don't get pushed off the edge by his wind attacks he likes to double and triple up on them 😐
Also all the bosses are beatable with the mega buster and your refilled energy. They aren't too hard aside from the very last one.
Don't worry you guys. I'll schedule a Youtube stream (long as I have my streaming rights back...) tomorrow around 10am, been meaning to test out my uplink at the new home, though I'm sure I'll be disappointed. Basically using a wireless repeater breaking out to Ethernet on a 20mbit connection, far cry from gigabit fiber I had last month.
I'll see if I can force the stream down to 720p30fps
You could read the whole NA thread on The Mutant Virus strategies and still not be able to beat it. MM boss weaknesses are the least fun part of MM games to me, I'd rather not deal with it after spending a couple hours bashing my face at random levels. I also looked up the location of one of the energy tanks and a dozen shrines in BOTW
>> Or you could just look up the boss order you purist.

Interesting. I used to be this way with checking guides but generally I only want to play a game once now so I generally check a guide now to make sure I can do everything that I want to do in that single playthrough.
> But is there any old school punk rock? Or even some Bikini Kill (which if you do

Old school, sure. Punk rock, well... I think the closest I would get is a Meat Loaf LP? None of these records were actually mine; if we had a record player, I'dve kept things like the Monty Python and George Carlin ones. I don't recall seeing the words Bikini Kill on anything, though...
Also yeah, that's totally rad. I'm gaming on the floor like my spirit animal (that girl in that cartoon image playing PC Engine) I'll have to snap a pic tonight. It's not a permanent solution of any kind of course, I only even have one older system hooked up right now (Duo R).
So Amazon sent me an obvious reseal of Haruhi (discs showed signs of use, no reg card), the outer box was even damaged. I sent a polite (seriously) email and they jumped right to full refund. Guess I can't complain with free but I really wish they would just not be idiotic.
