new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

That polymega thing will surprise everyone I think.

They announced it too early, but it has more funding behind it than any clone console before; it's a large team that's been funded and working on it for multiple years.

The hybrid emulation is not a buzz word, nothing like it's been tried before. I've played it, it's not a joke for sure. Depending on price I'd have said I would buy it when I saw it 6 months ago, and from what I hear it's made even more advances since then.

I just think these half measures are weird. Either original hardware only or full blown emulate and spend $0. But obviously, clone consoles have had success in the past.

The FAQ says the price target is under $300 for the thinger and $40-60 for modules. Whenever real prices come out I'll be sure to price it against just buying real hardware and an OSSC.

For me it's nice to play the same cart on HDTV with this, and then on a CRT with original hardware, keeping my saves all on one cart. The ease of setup compared to an emulator device is completely different as well.

Does the OSSC output HDMI, or Component?

Yeah I'm just not the market for this kind of thing.

@Gredler OSSC outputs to HDMI. Older models DVI. Pretty easy to convert it to w/e though.

Should have just kept them all like me. Herp derp.

I'm definitely going to buy an OSSC eventually. In the mean time they just keep adding more features and the firmware gets better. :D

Projected estimate. And of course the modules will cost more so if you want it to play everything it's definitely gonna cost you.

Or do you mean the OSSC?

Really lol? I already started Streets of Rage 2 just to see what's up with it.
It's okay so far, but just like PulseMan I'm playing it on my arcade stick ..... I'm old I think my right middle finger is getting carpal tunnel just from Genesis games on this stick. It's more intensive on the middle (normal attack) button than PulseMan was. I do have a regular pad but other than the pain I really like this stick and I like being able to play with it.

We've basically got 5 supporting votes for SF1 though so I think we're good unless people wanna just say lets play whichever Shining Force game we like best. I think that works too 😊

@BleedingViolet, I thought about doing 2 games simultaneously but that would just complicate things and take the highlight away from both games. So I think we should stick to 1 game a month.

So looks like it's a choice between

Sega Genesis Shining Force
Sega Genesis Streets of Rage

I would choose Shining Force however I lack a genesis and game for the attempt, I remember that game more for the friend of mine that would throw his controller when a character died. His parents were not pleased lol

and a few more I will have to dig up

I'm just playing streets of rage on my own, but I know some people prefer certain installments of RPGs over others.

But I'm glad it's narrowed down some. Plus the other good thing is both of these games are available on the Sonic Genesis Collection on both PS3 and 360 and both compilations are pretty inexpensive so Streets of Rage and Shining Force will be good easily accessible choices for everyone here.

I am hoping for Shining Force mainly just to mess with @DefaultGen and see if he will play it. The original is pretty rough around the edges now, even compared to similar games that came out later in the 90s. It's not as rough as Vasteel at least...
