new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games more than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I get what you mean here sir! But it's hard to have consistently different characters that also appeal to this generation. You also must realize that it's probably because we got older and our tastes have just changed.

Characters like Koko B ware and the Model Rick Martel as well as Ravishing Rick Rude and The Undertaker, the Rock, Edge and Christian, Kurt Angle and Jake the Snake Roberts are all pretty great and pretty original but even now I just can't get into any of it. I did get a ps1 copy of smackdown! Recently though and have been wanting to play that one for sure.

Also have you played Royal Rumble on DreamCast? I almost wanna say that's my favorite WWF/WWE game ever but Raw on og Xbox is great too. Or was I suppose.

no I did not but I'll look into it. Which ARE the best games with all those WWF characters? I'm assuming one of the N64 games. Anything else worthy? BTW my taste did not change much. I still love all of those characters. Times change, but those wrestling characters are what made it fun for me.

I would suggest Raw on og Xbox because it was one of the first games that I played that had a ton of things you could totally change around and personalize. Like adding any finishing moves to any created character.

Royal Rumble on DC is a lot of fun and like a lot of DC games it's very arcade like, it's kind of shallow (as in not a ton of modes to play) but it's also just fun and I believe you can have 9 characters on screen at a time. Which was a huge plus for me and maybe even four people could play all at once too!

Either way the graphics on both are pretty good and I might still have both of them in terrible condition of course BUT I've had Royal Rumble longer than I've been a member of gametz for instance since I was dialing up on my dreamcast when I first started my tenure here at gametz in 2001 I believe?

I would say one is better but I haven't played either in forever. I just really liked all the stuff you could personalize 😊 But I guess it depends on which characters you need to have in your wrasslin game too 😉 I'm pretty sure gamefaqs has comprehensive character lists I might check it later and see if it helps me remember better.

Actually my friend David (whom I wish would reactivate his account here already!!!) is a wealth of retro wrestling game knowledge and I think he has owned and played the crap out of all the wrestling games for snes, n64, Dreamcast, ps1 and ps2 and og Xbox not to mention PS3 and psp and 360. But yeah he even played and owned all the WCW and ECW games too I believe.

One of the WCW ones was my favorite. The prob with AKI games is that by the time they came around and hit their stride. They missed all of the WWF greats of the 80s and 90s.

Okay Seriously, the first Raw game on og Xbox did not "suck" but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

We all have games that we've liked more than others and I went from smackdown on ps1 (which I loved) and Royal Rumble on DC (which I loved) and even though I wasn't a fan of Monday night raw and loved the smackdown show I actually much preferred the Raw game to Smackdown after not only playing but owning both. It doesn't mean I stopped liking Smackdown or anything I just liked Raw better. And of course Royal Rumble stands out on its own.

I'm not even going to get into the video you posted since I can't remember actually playing that one and I wish I had played the 64 wrestling games more but I was more into smackdown and Royal Rumble back then.

I have a soft spot for the AKI N64 wrestling games because my brother and I played them together a lot. Almost makes me wish 2K18 wasn't a buggy piece of crap...

@JD How would you rank the wrestling games on the gen 6 consoles I'm just looking for something cheap and fun to play with a couple friends and I don't wanna churn through crappy ones first lol.

Actually it would be fine on 360 too assuming those have local multiplayer I forgot I'm getting some more 360 controllers from fine members of this thread. :D
