new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

IIRC the GBA has a different aspect ratio than the SNES?
In most cases I prefer the original UNLESS it adds some features such as extra levels or save functionality. Or in the case of Chrono Trigger, it's significantly cheaper.

I'd mostly side against the gba for ports. Some games like MMB are decent enough, but would you really want to play, say, vid related over the other versions?

@DefaultGen I've broken any score I've seen referenced online on the Cult of the Bloody Tongue table. I'm not nearly as good at Arkham though. I'd definitely be interested to see what this thread could do on all three Digital Pinball Necronomicon tables.

I'm guessing @PlayYing would smoke us all since he is apparently good enough to qualify for that insane Tetris crap.

I totally forgot about the difference in aspect ratios and I think you're one hundred percent correct. That may very well be the biggest detraction from choosing the Game Boy Advance over the Super Nintendo / Super Famicom. Thanks for all the well thought-out points, all! I really appreciate it!! grin

Sega Saturn Burning Rangers disc only 20 shipped.

Is undeniably in rough shape, but the game does run, i cleared the tutorial and stage 1(out of 4) and about the only issue i found was that the boss music would freak out every other time i shot it with a charge, so it might be a script issue.

Yeah, MD.EMU isn't bad if you've got a big screen and a good controller but it's not gonna work well if you don't. Always better on PC or on a Genesis.

My Samsung Galaxy S8 is fine size wise, and I have this new SNES 30 pro 8bitdo controller that works great with other games (sonic cd, blazing star, r type, vitua tennis) on my S8, but for some reason the D-Pad doesn't move the caracter in SoR... I'll play my original copy, nbd.

Not saying that I would qualify, but I have beaten the qualifying scores many times. If I cut Clash, game of the month and interacting with my kid/wife I think I can honestly my skills to get in the top 32 for sure.

So, I've been doing some FPS tests, everything running 1920x1080 or supersampling at 1440p, all maxed out/ULTRA on details (AMD FX 8350, 16GB DDR3):

PUBG - Staging area, 30-50FPS, more normal gaming locales around 70fps
GTA5 - 60-80FPS, doesn't often fall below 55fps
Final Fantasy XIV - 120FPS
Overwatch - 144FPS
Dark Souls III - lol60fpslock
Destiny 2 - Didn't care enough to let it download and apply a 5.6GB patch

I was supposed to have a package delivered by UPS 1/2. Turns out they(UPS Store) made the grave error of...putting receiver as the sender(such pros!)

So I am getting it to me now...hopefully in one piece, the package is 44 lbs(according to the tracking)

Gotta admit it's convenient to just start the system, not have to do anything else and the game boots. It's gonna be awhile before this Saturn is off pinball duty. Whenever my replacement pseudo Saturn comes in I'll probably put it in my US system.

The best video pinballer vs the best pinballer vs the best Tetris player on GTZ. Could be fun.

Looks like it has longer animations than the SCD version. Anything that makes RPG battles longer, no thanks. Also no CD audio!

Last bit of the night, took CEMU for a fresh spin. Performing much better now, though I think a CPU upgrade would pretty much set it straight.

Whenever the shader cache gets a new object the game freezes, that's still a big bummer, but once you've been playing for a bit it doesn't really happen anymore.

Got a recording at my first attempt at Streets of Rage 1 as Axel. I lose in SPECTACULAR fashion at the very end...I've saved a couple highlights and lowlights of that play through and I think I'll combine them all into a smaller video after I have a few more play attempts:

Yeah, usually when you tank hard, it's on the final boss sequence or last stage. You can have a fantastic game and then just not get any of the pick-ups, throws and hits to register that you need. Plus there's usually a boss or two that you take a few deaths you shouldn't have but you're just playing like ass for unknown reasons.

Protip: I believe if you hold start down when the Stage X Clear notice comes up, all the way until the next level starts, you should get an extra life.

And don't forget about the police when crap gets hairy! Use them while you can, because in SoR2

You can use them in every stage but the last stage. This includes, hilariously, the Elevator stage.

I am ALinkToRetro on PCEFX, though I'm not very active at all. Joined when I was trying to find Dragon Slayer
