new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

How is the 6 button arcade stick? I 've heard not good things. I like the feel of the 3 button and will be using it for my SoR playthrough.

I haven't been a fan of Sega's official sticks from what I've used. On Saturn for example I prefer my Hori (thanks so much old PCEFX SS) and for Dreamcast I use my own custom stick.

It's okay, Oath in Felghana is much better. Also Ys III is the worst Ys game on PCE by a fair bit imo.

That'd be rad lunar, I'd be down.

This genesis arcade stick debacle has sent me down a dark path of forums.shoryuken.com and shmups.system11.org discussions, and apparently those above linked offical 3 and 6 button sega sticks are the most common (and worst; I have two of each and do not care for their mushy dpad in sticks clothing solution)

There is a hori multi-platform stick, capcom stick, and ascii stick (had this, just gave it to a friend for Christmas as it also had a mushy d-pad stick). I'd want to put seimitsu parts in my final solution and would rather not gut and mod a classic piece of hardware.

Looks like the best solution is DIY which I am very much down to do (I was going to do that anways, but after this surprising gift of a MC Cthulhu board stick I am going to use this for my other systems.

Going to buy these things:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...
+
https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...

and solder the button inputs from the stick to the pcb of the controller.

For now I will just use mushy sticks and controllers. Shameful! I love microswitch sticks

Only thing I don't like with uncommon/rara-ish games is that people might not have access to them or isn't willing/doesn't want to emulate.

Yeah, if Rondo gets picked, I need to fix my TG16 and buy Rondo, which I would probably do. I'm overdue on fixing that console anyway.

You know I have a Sega stick just gathering dust somewhere in my storage... I don't need it, I was considering throwing it out, because it is most definitely in need of some cleaning and refurbishing and selling it is too much trouble due to the shipping costs.

Anyone want it for the cost of postage? Just a warning, the thing is VERY DUSTY.

I don't think I ever tested the thing, and I don't know where my Genesis is so I can't test it. :(

It SHOULD work. But it's a very DIY project and it's very damn heavy.

Blaze has a back kick if you tap punch and jump at the same time, I think? Face away from the doges and just back smack 'em until they stay down.

But yes, they're pretty brutal. They cheat with their reach.
