Thread Description Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.
Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.
Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!
Old Topic Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

I'd say even 50% of the people in the thread participants box @Lunar has in the OP finish the Game of the Month that would be pretty incredible. We might have a real chance with Streets of Rage. I know I'm gonna do it.
I'm a day late but better than never. I think I gave the bosses too much credit. I ended the game with 14 lives left and that's with a bunch of dumb deaths by my own mistake. Last boss was just as easy as Level 1 boss once you figure out the pattern.
Still a better than average game overall. I give higher remarks for graphics and character design.
Yo BleedingViolet, you're taking this a little too seriously dude. It's just a casual thing that we put together so we can play some games in our collection. Feel free to play both, that's totally fine. I just don't think Shining Force is a good fit for this sort of thing. Also that game is pretty difficult and VERY time consuming, which can be really off-putting to some people. How do you know people will love it? SPRG's are niche at best.

Actually there are people that don't like platformers (which I don't get really since I love everything except most fps games but even a couple of those I love). That's why we gotta start mixing it up.
I don't think RPGs are niche at all anymore personally and Shining Force is a game with strategy too sure but it's also easy to play hard to master. I'm not sure what's hard about it but maybe compared to some easier RPGs I'm not familiar with maybe you have a point.
@BleedingViolet is known to be passionate. This one was a bit close and came down to my vote, I am sorry if anyone feels like they "lost". It's not a competition at all.
I think it could have gone either way this month. I just personally wanted to play Street of Rage. Do I want to play Shining Force? Sure I do! But maybe a different time. As a few people already pointed out, this isn't to say SoR is better nor are they even good candidates for a direct comparison as they are so different.
Let's just have fun with GotM, I encourage everyone to participate but not a big deal if you don't play/beat it during the month. Or if you wanted to play a different game/genre, that's fine too.
> I don't think Shining Force is a game that gets people into retro gaming. Again,
> I think you're putting this up on a pedestal it doesn't belong, it's just us picking

Actually it's one of those games that I can point to and say this is why retro games are better than most modern crap. So the pedestal (to me at least) is totally justified. After saying that though Shadow Dancer better be good though π
It's also one of the only RPGs I could get into as a kid. I didn't see it as difficult though. Games really were harder when we were younger. Maybe I'm too old school but fun is fun even if it's challenging or time consuming. If it were a game that you had to beat in one shot I never would have recommended it for game of the month but you can save almost whenever you like. So I still felt it was totally reasonable for game of the month.

If you were hooked in by trails I think p5 and TX ex+ will be up your alley. Get the PS4 ex+ version..it's got quite a few added things..smooth 60fps..and an extra epilogue chapter. In my top 10 rpgs ever, would be game of the year for me most years..and im fresh off finishing but I might even put it over nier. Will have to reflect a few days before I say for sure, but the weeb inside says it's true.
I would probably rate more of them as really generic in my older age as I would when I was younger, some of the ps2 era stuff I loved at the time I don't think would rate as high with me now, so I get what you're saying I think. This has been a great year for weebing out though with p5 and TX, makes me want to visit Japan someday more than ever.

I think at this point it's mostly that I really prefer western worlds, themes and plots more now. Like the game worlds and characters of Mass Effect and The Witcher are waaaay more interesting than like the Tales of Zestiria world. I also think that's part of why Cold Steel interested me. I could tell the game creators cared about the game world they were creating and it's a pretty expansive world with solid lore.

Ya I get that. I'm pretty excited to play the trails of stuff now, though I've been wanting to have the time for awhile. The comparison to persona drew me to this game so knowing cold steel is more of it just makes me want the time that much more..and now I have to go back to work tomorrow...ugh. I'd say p5 is a pretty big step up over zestiria/berseria, and Xanadu as well..though not as much. It's pretty decidedly Japanese still though, but some of the jrpg folks at Atlus and falcom definitely seem to be stepping their game up and moving into more modern styles.
I'm going to miss anime high school life :/. but they promised another Xanadu...so perhaps one day we'll get to see another game in the series from falcom. I'm just afraid it's gonna get lost in the shuffle... The trophy numbers are very low percentages.. maybe lots of players out there just aren't finished.

I have been wanting an excuse to finally get to play turbo grafx (and also Neo Geo) classics for years. So yes I think that this is totally doable for everyone here IF people can get on board while the credit is still available to purchase.
@Lunar how come no one has posted in your Wii VC thread in forever btw? What's the cutoff date to buy credit?

Thinking more, the gameplay is probably at fault too. But I can get past menu driven random battles if I like everything else about the game (Lost Odyssey comes to mind). A big reason why I do like Ys so much is the gameplay is big time fun to me.
Trophy numbers are very low for Trails in the Sky too, brutal completion rate on Steam. I just think that's something that happens particularly with longer games that are repetitive. Not something I'd worry about too much impacting future releases.

I have the wireless 8bitdo controllers for NES and SNES, both are great and I've had no issues with them. They also have a newer model controller that works with the Switch, I don't own this one but I've heard it's very good as well. Any of the controllers should match up with any of the system adapters, so NES controller with an SNES adapter will work, they also have adapters for S/NES classic models.

Yes! You totally can!! I have a backwards compatible and, using my WaveBird(GameCube), regularly enjoy such titles as Castlevania: Rondo of Blood(Wii Virtual Console), Metal Slug 3(Wii Virtual Console), and Star Fox 64(Wii Virtual Console).
You're so very welcome! It's not often that I get to constructively contribute to this amazing conversation we affectionately call the RTT. There's just so many knowledgeable people here with such well-formed opinions and tastes. So, I'll take a win when I can get it!
> Wait, is there a GameCube controller adapter for Wii U that can enable Wavebirds?
> Just realized my main eshop account is on my Wii U.
Yes, but it got expensive and harder to find once it was announced it worked on the Switch here a while back though. Used to be able to find them at retail or on clearance at various locations but mainly Walmart.
Hm, before I toss this on bay, let me see if anyone is interested.
So I got a RetroFreak in box with controller adapter. Only catch is the SNES/SFC pins are fudgeed up, so it won't read SNES/SFC games. Everything else should work as intended. I'll also include a Famicom to NES adapter so it can read US NES games(only Famicom is native).
I'm thinking around $150. Let me know if anyone is interested, hit me up for trades/discussions.
This thing is better than Retron 5 in that it can take PCE/TG16 chips. Also you can rip the games onto the system HDD or Micro SD card(sold separately), so you don't have to load it every time.
I'm planning on getting an early start on this months game and will fire it up tonight. I am going into this with the firm belief that SoR2 was the best in the series, however I have never beat the first one so we will see.
I'm tellin' ya, by the time I finished it (and the last stage and the boss are a dog) I was like "Fudge Streets of Rage 2." Better tunes, and after playing it long enough I actually liked the sprites in SoR better too. They are smaller though, and the game runs at 30fps as opposed to 60 in SOR2/3.
I've no doubt whatsoever that they'll be going to you.
Elfen Lied was mostly a "Alright I'm finally gonna sit the fudge down and see what was up with this" purchase, since I had equal recommendations and wave-offs on the show over the many MANY years I didn't watch it.
image So this is what I thought I was buying for some reason. Not a big deal, just means I have to spend another $14 to watch the OAV after the original TV series. I'll probably put Fist of the North Star on hold and switch to either Casshan, Golgo or Elfen Lied, Watamote'll be the last I watch just because I know it's good and it's actually what started the order lol
OAV studio's ...madhouse I think? Same outfit that did Kite. You can tell, too, the girls look identical. edit: not Madhouse, weird name, but the artwork's definitely a dead ringer for KITE
I need to watch elfen lied.. im gonna take a short game break and watch some anime after Tokyo xanadu since im just gonna be disappointed in what comes next. I finished up to current on attack on titan (I really love that show) and maybe i'll watch elfen next. though I do want to play the last of us, ive shamefully never played it, but ive watched my brother play most of it so the priority was never really there since I know what happens. and I want to this year finally play skies of arcadia.
did I see somewhere it talking about goals for 2018?
I want to finish my wanted list for everything pre current gen, im actually ridiculously close to this other than guides. also want to finish at least half the guides, if not all of them, that's only 3 a month. I need to go through my game lists and see what other guides I need though, that's only the ones ive found in our database here so far.
@lunar speaking of TX you should def go for the ps4 version, adds an extra epilogue chapter and runs at sweet 60fps and has some other added improvements

Lupin Part II is dope.
Movies are pretty timeless. The only thing that's difficult for me is how bad the audio quality is, but then I've watched subbed anime from the 80s and it's not like Japanese audio had improved by that point anyway.

I real miracle would be someone releasing the Urusei Yatsura series. I'm not interested in it, but it'd be swell for those that are. One I would like to see for myself is Kimagure Orange Road. Marmalade Boy happened, so I'm holding out some hope there.
They are finally releasing Lupin Legend of Gold Babylon not only on dvd but blu as well. Not the best Lupin movie but the previous best release was ...
listings always evoke memories, I actually had one and had quite a few games for it as well. id like to play some of those again as crazy as that sounds lol. although in practice it probably wouldn't be so great lol. some are probably available on pc. not sure the voyeurs are though.. secret mission was probably the best game on that platform.
we actually did have a lot of fun with 7th guest, my parents actually got really into it they are all about puzzle games and it along with myst started my mother down a road of adventure game playing and collecting that would put some of our collections to shame lol. they actually mapped out the big labyrinth section lol, which it turns out can be done in like 5 or 6 clicks if you just know the right order :p

Yeah it looks like they're not the real deal, unusually convincing though, far higher quality looking than most bootlegs out there. I'm guessing they got their hands on the kind of blanks phillips used for their prototypes and just made copies.
So I took a better look at the discs and I'm now convinced they're not original discs. I found it odd that the reflected light on the discs was exactly the same on both of them, and then I saw that the matrix itself was in the same exact spot on both discs...
So yeah, you're absolutely right. These aren't legitimate discs.

My solution? Buy Beautiful Dreamer. Watch that, and buy copies for your friends or nag them to buy it until they finally do. Then watch Rin-ne and Ranma every so often until Urusei Yatsura comes back into print. Maybe Discotek can bribe collaborate with Viz to get the UY series back out here if Beautiful Dreamer sells well.
The Blu rips are sooooooo pretty too, lol. I knew someone who bought the Urusei Yatsura set when it was still new, took up an entire fudging shelf by itself. The DVD cases were flimsy as fudge, and completely empty, I don't wanna think about how much he put on a credit card to get that. It was undoubtedly obscene. But he did live in his parents' basement, and he ended up being quite self-sufficient and got a nice family, so I can't knock his awkward post-High School years. He's doing a lot better than I was. Yeah that was Animeigo right? The Macross dvds I have are pretty crap from a build quality perspective and were single layer. I would not put a lot of money into any of their old dvd releases at this point.
Yep, ol' Animeigo. I bet that full set goes for a pretty penny at the moment though, especially without any domestic releases imminent or even hinted at other than the second movie's Bluray incoming obviously (but I considered those completely separate)

Oh man...I bought a Turbo ED when it had first come out and never had an issue. If you want to get that mod done @Lunar let me know and I can refund you some of that PayPal if you have to do that voltage mod @Missile was talking about.
My rev2.5 didnt wanna work at first but once I switched to pce on the TED and on my region switched Duo it was off to the races. KC told me it can vary which systems they will work on though I dont think compatibility is 100% guaranteed when a region mod is involved.
> So stuff like 60 bucks for a 13 episode box set of the ace attorney anime is normal

Nowadays, that would be about MSRP. You should be able to find things cheaper than that for in-print things, though. If you ask an old fogey like me, I remember when the average MSRP was $30 for 2 eps on VHS, or a 13 ep series on single releases was $120. Slayers, at $70 for a 13 ep VHS box, was a steal!
Slayers Next was my jam back in the day. Xellos was the friggin' man! Once a week, I'd watch each episode thanks to my college's anime club. They'd have free showings in one of the larger auditoriums and used the projector and everything. It was a great time to be a nerd, I tell you what.
> So stuff like 60 bucks for a 13 episode box set of the ace attorney anime is normal

Oh no, it was much much worse back in the day. Prices now are great unless you're in Japan, now you can get 24 episodes for like, $20-30. All 3 original Slayers series only set me back $45 at Fry's, in the early days you couldn't even buy the Hong Kong ripoffs that cheap.
All this talk about CD-I and I missed it. If anyone is interested in the first to Zelda games on CD-I European versions I have complete copies. I'd let them go for well below what they go for (which isn't that much anyways).
Also a question .... I bought a backlit GBA on eBay and the system bounced around a little too much during shipping and the clear plastic (that goes ontop of the actual screen) came off. I'm also noticing that when pressing down near the screen will make a the screen go dark in certain area of the screen. I'm communicating with the seller but he isn't offering much help. I'm hoping sticking down the screen will resolve the screen issue. What adhesive do I use to stick this back down? Below is a picture:
Edit: The other issue is of course there's now a ton of dust. Any technique I can use to make sure all dust is out besides just using canned air (and any specific canned air for spraying directly on a screen)?
My main concern right now is if this will fix the issue with the screen going dark when pressing around the screen (including the B and Start buttons).
Edit #2: Looks like my best option might be to just buy a replacement plastic front piece since it will come with the adhesive but the question remains will this fix the issue with the dark screen when pressing on the B and Start button (and around the casing)? I'm guessing not. Maybe this is a known issue with this mod??? Hoping someone who knows GBA can help!

I bit the bullet when AnimEigo (side note: autocorrect knew to fix the capitalization to what's there??) announced it was OOP, and some volumes were getting low in stock. At $7/volume, I figured it was then or never.

I do, but not because I shopped there. It's pretty much been confirmed their closure is what did CPM in, and left Media Blasters on life support. Those following conventions also can trace part of Big Apple Anime Fest's closure to this, with CPM being their biggest sponsor.
But yes, Slayers. It is one of the 2 series I cite as being my gateway into anime. And when I was a DM, I had an NPC family; the mage's name was Xelloss.
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. It was a friend who showed me Slayers, and told me where he bought it. I went in and asked for a recommendation, they mentioned this brand new box set, which also appealed to me, since he only had the first 2 tapes of Slayers, and I didn't like being left in the lurch. A whole series for $130? Sure! And I've been a fan since, though my interest has gone like a sine curve in recent years.

The darkness from pressing the buttons is likely due to the frame of the top case pushing down on corners of the actual screen itself. If you put the screen protector back on, hold it on, and test if pressing those buttons causes the screen to still go dark near those areas. If not, then grab some Zots and use that in the corners and edges to stick the cover back on, they will hold very well but also allow you to remove it later if you want.
The screen protector is an easy fix but I'd be more concerned with the pressure pushing those buttons down will do to the screen over time. Adding the protector back on should correct that unless there is a problem inside causing the pressure on the screen.
Think it's a 600w Bronze, if I'm having stability issues like I was earlier (still not sure if it was the PSU or the mobo) I'll probably upgrade to a 750 Gold. I've changed cases since then, so I'm interested to see if it just works proper.
I'm running an AMD FX 8350, no optical drives, just an SSD and an external USB3, so I honestly should be fine on power draw as is.

lol, I think this is on the other side of the seesaw for "cheaping out". That's incredibly more than even I'd ever consider getting this rig, and AMD (pre-Ryzen) pulls MORE juice than Intel does. Unless you're OCing/watercooling this was a bit wasteful I think. My system draw as is runs about 412w, and I know for a fact with the specs you've listed you're pulling much, much less.
Combination of I'm watercooling and fell into a deal I could not refuse, paid less than half of retail for this new in box. Also my previous system while still on this psu was an x58 based system with a xeon hex-core heavily oc'ed. I've also got an optical drive, 2 3.5's hdds and 3 ssds. Still overkill yes, but for the price I would have been an idiot to say no.

I'm ignorant about watercooling so you may be where you need to be. I'd imagine it draws a fair chunk of power. And if it was a deal, it was a deal.
800w's about as high as I would go for mine, all fan-cooled, and that's factoring in future CPU upgrades. Going Gold or above versus Bronze is less important to me, I can handle some inefficiencies in the power it's drawing from the wall. Lots of times you'd have to keep the PSU for 3-4 years before you break even/start saving money between the ratings.
I think I only need one SATA power cable... for the 850 Evo, honestly the only things I need other than that are the mainboard, CPU and... *looks at new card* oh damn, just two 2x2s. I think the 970 uses a couple 2x3s, if not 2x4s. One fan's nice, hopefully the blower stays chill! I don't usually use reference designs so this'll be an experience.
edit: Yeah, the 970's got two 2x3s. And actually I think my internal USB3 controller uses a SATA connector too. So two then. Unfortunately they're nowhere near one another so I'll still need two cables.
I don't remember the reviews on the reference cooler for those. I think that's part of the reason Nvidia cards were pulling a premium, might be that whole vapor chamber setup. I've got a Gigabyte G1 that hardly ever kicks the fan on unless I am doing something more than rocket league. The oem nvidia cards are sexy beasts for sure.
This thing would suck at bitcoin mining. One video card, FX 8350? I'd get laughed out of whatever mining outfit I applied for.
Also, my framerate for PUBG's almost a steady 50-55FPS now at 1080p! What a piece of crap unoptimized fudge pile of a game. Only had time to try that out for lunch, though I did blow quarter of an hour on a LoL highlight video and some Snickers so that didn't help.
Man I am out of touch with the pc graphics world these days. I wasn't aware the 1070 and 1080 commanded so much $$$$ still, not since the 8800gtx have I seen one series stay in the lead for so long. I think I paid $435 for my 1070 like 2 years ago. I can remember having to brickseek that thing like it was made by Nintendo.
Yeah I have an upcoming rebuild of my computer hopefully next month really would like to get rid of my 10 year old or so monitor and hand me down parts, which i dont mind but last upgrade I did was get a slightly better graphics card to play fallout 4
The PS 3 runs like a dream, redone thermal paste and all, got access to my suikoden downloads. It is quieter than my ps4.
Help out a foolish old fool. What exactly is "Bitcoin mining" and how...how does it work? Don't get me wrong; I have neither the resources nor the understanding to embark on such an endeavor. I'm just curious as to what exactly it is.
Soon as I saw that the only legal way to actually draw on your Bitcoin finances was to essentially take a plane trip to Switzerland, withdraw, convert to euro, fly back to the states, convert to USD and declare for tax reasons, I decided Bitcoin and I were fine in separate corners.
The ATMs tax the fuuuuuuck outta you, ASSUMING they don't just empty your wallet and say "Fudge you, have a nice day". And if they do, well, you're fudgeed.
Alright, here's a frank and honest video game-related question for the RTT peanut gallery. When piqued to play a classic Capcom title that received both an original release on the / and a re-release on the , which do you instinctively gravitate toward? Three examples come to mind: Mickey to Donald: Magical Adventure 3(Super Famicom) VS Disney's Magical Quest 3: Starring Mickey & Donald Rockman & Forte(Super Famicom) VS Mega Man & Bass(Game Boy Advance) Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts(Super Nintendo) VS Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts(Game Boy Advance)
That's totally cool and I'd be hard pressed to disagree. But, why side with the / release over the re-release? Is it purely nostalgia? Is there a graphical superiority to the original? Does it actually play better than the "beefed up" port? Again, I'm just curious.
simply because I gravitate toward handhelds. However there are games that are just too downgraded. The first 2 Donkey Kong Countries for example. But there are buts. Since my GBA games are super pristine, I am done collecting for GBA. It would be too hard to get them to match my GBA games condition.
I have Breath of Fire I and II and Final Fantasy VI on GBA for example. If there is a handheld version of RPGs I usually go for that, unless it is terribly downgraded. Nothing like playing a 2D sprite based RPG on that tiny Micro screen.
Back when Micro first came out (yeah it was later in GBA life) I thought how much I wished more RPGs got ported over bc I loved playing on it so much. So amazing how our taste ranges the whole spectrum here. I still love the SNES though and that OSSC does make those 2D pixels super sharp. But I'd play them all on GBA if they were released officially.

I would counter with the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Player(GameCube). But, I can't because the Controller -- Hori Digital Pad(GameCube) is ridiculously unattainable. Otherwise, it'd be a different story.

IIRC the GBA has a different aspect ratio than the SNES? In most cases I prefer the original UNLESS it adds some features such as extra levels or save functionality. Or in the case of Chrono Trigger, it's significantly cheaper.
@DefaultGen I've broken any score I've seen referenced online on the Cult of the Bloody Tongue table. I'm not nearly as good at Arkham though. I'd definitely be interested to see what this thread could do on all three Digital Pinball Necronomicon tables.
I'm guessing @PlayYing would smoke us all since he is apparently good enough to qualify for that insane Tetris crap.

I totally forgot about the difference in aspect ratios and I think you're one hundred percent correct. That may very well be the biggest detraction from choosing the over the / . Thanks for all the well thought-out points, all! I really appreciate it!!
Is undeniably in rough shape, but the game does run, i cleared the tutorial and stage 1(out of 4) and about the only issue i found was that the boss music would freak out every other time i shot it with a charge, so it might be a script issue.

My Samsung Galaxy S8 is fine size wise, and I have this new SNES 30 pro 8bitdo controller that works great with other games (sonic cd, blazing star, r type, vitua tennis) on my S8, but for some reason the D-Pad doesn't move the caracter in SoR... I'll play my original copy, nbd.

Not saying that I would qualify, but I have beaten the qualifying scores many times. If I cut Clash, game of the month and interacting with my kid/wife I think I can honestly my skills to get in the top 32 for sure.
So, I've been doing some FPS tests, everything running 1920x1080 or supersampling at 1440p, all maxed out/ULTRA on details (AMD FX 8350, 16GB DDR3):
PUBG - Staging area, 30-50FPS, more normal gaming locales around 70fps GTA5 - 60-80FPS, doesn't often fall below 55fps Final Fantasy XIV - 120FPS Overwatch - 144FPS Dark Souls III - lol60fpslock Destiny 2 - Didn't care enough to let it download and apply a 5.6GB patch
If anyone else has a list of games they beat in 2017 or just want to copy and paste their list from @razeak's thread, feel free to PM me and I will put it up in the OP(see mine in the OP as an example)

None of these other things are as important as Tetris skillz acquisition obviously.

Gotta admit it's convenient to just start the system, not have to do anything else and the game boots. It's gonna be awhile before this Saturn is off pinball duty. Whenever my replacement pseudo Saturn comes in I'll probably put it in my US system.
Got a recording at my first attempt at Streets of Rage 1 as Axel. I lose in SPECTACULAR fashion at the very end...I've saved a couple highlights and lowlights of that play through and I think I'll combine them all into a smaller video after I have a few more play attempts:
Yeah, usually when you tank hard, it's on the final boss sequence or last stage. You can have a fantastic game and then just not get any of the pick-ups, throws and hits to register that you need. Plus there's usually a boss or two that you take a few deaths you shouldn't have but you're just playing like ass for unknown reasons.
I am sure @Gypsy and @DiamondDave are all set, but I just got the Amazon Exclusive boxset of Cowboy Bebop as a late xmas gift. So I have the Complete series on Bluray for $22 shipped if anyone wants it! Watched 2-3 times, good as new.
Facebook TG16 Obey group, someone asks for some HuCard shoot'em up suggestions, and one of the comments is Castlevania Rondo of Blood
Now, assuming we had some trolling going on, since they were posting a non-shooter CD game in a thread asking about Non-CD shooter games, I posted the obvious counter-terrorism post: "SNES version's better", to which they actually replied going in-depth about how inferior the SNES version was and that the PCE version was better, so I guess that makes ME the troll now
It has a MC Cthulhu board so it can have cords made to fit each system. After cleaning up from the holidays I will be trying to make cords for Dreamcast, Saturn, Genesis/SMS, SNES, NES, and maybe N64 but there's not much on that I'd want an arcade stick for.
Do any of you have a good microswitch stick for your genesis? I was really hoping this would be my solution, but looks like I'll have to build a dedicated stick for the genny if I want to play on it with a nice stick :/
> Can we please seriously consider a PCE game for next month?
Yes, when does voting start?
Air Zonk Bonk 1/2/3 Gate of Thunder Legendary Axe Neutopia Parasol Stars Valkyrie No Densetsu Ys III
This genesis arcade stick debacle has sent me down a dark path of forums.shoryuken.com and shmups.system11.org discussions, and apparently those above linked offical 3 and 6 button sega sticks are the most common (and worst; I have two of each and do not care for their mushy dpad in sticks clothing solution)
There is a hori multi-platform stick, capcom stick, and ascii stick (had this, just gave it to a friend for Christmas as it also had a mushy d-pad stick). I'd want to put seimitsu parts in my final solution and would rather not gut and mod a classic piece of hardware.
Looks like the best solution is DIY which I am very much down to do (I was going to do that anways, but after this surprising gift of a MC Cthulhu board stick I am going to use this for my other systems.
You know I have a Sega stick just gathering dust somewhere in my storage... I don't need it, I was considering throwing it out, because it is most definitely in need of some cleaning and refurbishing and selling it is too much trouble due to the shipping costs.
Anyone want it for the cost of postage? Just a warning, the thing is VERY DUSTY.
