new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Surge protectors, surge protectors everywhere. dead face

I think you would best be served checking eBay for a non-powered switch. I'd hope there would be cheap options for that.

Too much garbage in the last decade. Does Retro City Rampage need 4 collector's editions? Does Assassin's Creed Origins need 7? Does Sonic Mania need a house-sized box with no game inside of it? Do I need a giant statue commemorating my purchase of every big budget game of the last decade?

They have little value as collectibles, so I'd rather spend the space on a game (or rather a bunch of games) that I want in my collection.

That's where I got the one I have now. I know for a fact that non-powered boxes supporting 4 inputs exist; my roommates in VA had one. But try as I might, I could not even find a single listing for one. So I had to get one with 3 inputs.

And surge protectors... haha... there is a single outlet behind my entertainment system. Both plugs have a 12-plug surge protector on them. And I'm running an extension cord from another outlet to power the last few things already.

I agree about that being overkill. For BotW, I opted to not get the statue version. I'll take my art book and CD, but most other things can be passed on pretty easily.

Overall I agree with ya (I must be losing it), the last collector's edition that I bought day one was Bioshock OG with the Big Daddy, and before that the cat helmet for Halo 3.

I don't even know what to do with the grappling hook collectors edition Just Cause 3 that Lunar sold me...

@Noid would you like some free digital HD movie codes for your correct guess? Oh and don't forget

he actually does get to become a complete idiot after the magic wishing well is restored, LOL.

I actually just recently rewatched 10th Kingdom on my old dvds and it is still so enjoyable. Fun fantasy story but also with some really good underlying messages. It was made and aired before LOTR too, before fantasy really took off in the mainstream.

Did you guys see Hyperkin is making a "under $100" black and white Game Boy clone:

image

Talk about something the world doesn't need. On top of my weariness for Hyperkin, pricey emulator systems, and consoles that needlessly have aluminum bodies, it's probably going to be 5x as expensive as just buying a damn Game Boy. If you want to play your games, play your games, don't keep buying this crap that they want you to think you need to enjoy them in the modern era.

I'll take Ys if it helps you buy your Dreamcast crap, so long as you understand it still won't be good via HDMI.

Oh we can definitely work something out there I think, was wondering if I'd have to drag out the CRT for Berserk, this would be perfect. Might even get me to buy more crap I don't need for Dreamcast.

I'll get started on Streets of Rage tomorrow or Friday. I just realized that I have it on Sega CD, so now I have a reason to dig it out. I haven't used it in 3 years, so hopefully it still works lol.

For anyone else interested of course it's @DiamondDave so you know that crap isn't going into a vault forever. It seems like a pretty amicable deal for both parties. I've actually been wanting to watch Babylon 5 for awhile. I even get to unseal most of the seasons myself. evil

If it's a model 2 I would expect it to work. If it's the early model that has belts inside, that might be a riskier proposition.
