new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I beat SOR on Normal. A few more grunts on certain screens, so you spend some more time pressing the B button. Almost all the real challenge at least on Easy and Normal comes from those last 2 screens.

You could, but why would you? if you really wanted an excellent emu machine, why not get something like ShieldTV or Pi?

I don't even emulate NES games on the SNESC, just doesn't feel right.

NESC for Nintendo Entertainment System games and SNES for Super Nintendo games. The rest I play on EDs. I also have a back up AVS + N8 for Nintendo Entertainment System

I never thought this day would come but @ErickRPG, I guess the stress of mint CIB collecting got to you lol.

Emulation isn't the only option! You could do original hardware + Everdrive. That's probably the closest you gonna get to what you had before without you know...losing your hair part.

Shield is overkill honestly unless you want to emulate some slightly newer consoles. Even then you could probably get an old PC tower for less that can do the job. I suppose the main benefit would be the compact size.

Yea, with the extra power you can do 5th and some 6th gen consoles. But MAME is another big one that's nice to have.

I don't like spending too much time tweaking the options to make it look like the real thing. I guess it's a nice back up option.

If you decide to join Discord for chat and trading (https://discord.gg/GSCrmE) and you've got a weird name that doesn't match your RTT moniker you're probably gonna have to re-join the server, trying to keep everyone identifiable. PM me on GTZ with your username when you join with your Discord name, that'll help! Here's who we've got so far:

If you see your name up here and you do NOT reckon you've ever been to our Discord, let me know. We've already got people posting offerings on Discord and the banter is fun in the evenings, swing on by. 3DS, I'm not sure who you are so you're gonna want to re-join and let me know who you are so I know to keep you around. smile

Yeah I don't have time or desire for that crap. I have a friend that loooooves tweaking crap and dicking around and never actually playing games that often but that's just not for me. Not when it's now so easy to pirate all the old disc based systems. The only everdrives I kind of want are Genesis and Turbo but even then I have plenty of games already for it and free access to the entire PCE CD library.

No, after you played it, the sound effects were too stupid for me laughing out loud

I played it and actually kinda preferred it last night? But I also think there's weird lag where there isn't any in the original, I'll have to double check.

Sigh, tis true. There are also some very noticeable slowdowns when too many sprites on screen (ie. weather effects on the boardwalk), not sure if it's present on the cart version.

Nope...It is clearly due to the police car breaking the space-time continuum when it arrives on the boat!!!!!!

Boardwalk slowdown is indeed on the cart version as well. Gets me in almost every play through I've done.

Framerate doesn't matter if I can play Dark Souls in the bathroom. Whoops wrong thread.

OSSC doesn't play well with Elgato, or else I'd try to stream via OSSC

This was a huge problem I had. I'd buy, sell, trade, collect and that left very little time for playing. This happened for many years on GameTZ for me. Granted I have less time than when I was younger, but I definitely play more now than before.

Collecting is fun when you have ample space, time, money to pour into it (ie DefaultGen). For now though, I'll just play contently on whatever I have, keep games I care about, and the rest are trade bait and expendable.

Word.

So this Lunar guide for the Sega CD version is pretty cool. There is an interview with Vic Ireland near the back.

Yes it is pretty great. It's a little harder to play after 3 but very worthwhile nonetheless
