new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Exile would lead to another month with lots of clears. I'd play any of those PCE/Turbo games.

Would not play any Sega Master System or Nintendo Entertainment System though.

So far I have no regrets dumping my expensive US Saturn games. Should have my replacement Pseudo Saturn in soon too.

I use it liberally on a lot of PCE games. Though in my defense those switches are on official controllers and some games basically require it for some stuff.

My brain says next month's RTT's Let's Play Together Game of the Month should be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Nintendo) because it's a great video game that's relatively inexpensive and readily accessible; but, my heart says it should be Neutopia (NEC TurboGrafx-16) because the world just needs more NEC TurboGrafx-16 love. love

I've tried harder lately to fund my new acquisitions with sales instead of straight out of my pocket. Worked pretty well and helped me part with the flak I don't really care for anymore. That being said I may be parting out my pretty small PlayStation Vita collection shortly if I can trade off my console for Haunting Ground.

That's about as many times as I've played Baldur's Gate II. shock

Edit: I honestly don't even remember how many times I've played through it but the number is pretty high.

I'd say Neutopia is worth it. I beat it about a year ago and was pretty impressed. A solid title for sure.

I've not yet beat SoR. I just get my butt kicked by those twin blaze bosses. I've yet to find a good strategy to beat them. Maybe time to bust out the Mega Everdrive and use my save states.

I'm not sure if you're a super purist not allowed to discuss strategy, but I'll spoiler this out just in case:

DefaultGen's sweet strategy for beating the twins:

As Blaze: Get both of them on the same side of the screen, face away from them, and only do the B+C backwards kick. You can't just spam it randomly, time it to when they come into range. The only things they'll do is either slowly walk straight up to you (to try and grab you) or a jump kick in the air. If you kick at about the same time the one in the air kicks, your kick will connect before hers does. The few times I did this, it mostly worked. Sometimes if both come at you with weird timing you won't be able to kick both away, but I certainly did better with this than trying to grab or jump kick them.

As Axel: Get rekt. Lose all your credits
