new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Nice. So the bundle was $225 shipped? Anything else comes with it?

I had a feeling unless the market crashed I wasn't gonna find a complete IFU for $200 before shipping in the states ever again. Just waiting on the Everdrive so I can spoof the Super card and just wait for this to all blow over. *sips beer*

Nah, just Vigilante loose and the Syscard 1.0, and I think there were some compatibility issues with syscard 2.0 and super cards with certain titles... Bonanza Bros might have been one. Been a while, not a hundred percent anymore

Yeah, I have a tough time seeing a better bundle price than that.

@DiamondDave I'd be interested in that 1.0 card as a novelty once you get your everdrive in.

Actually I guess it does have some practical use too, I want to try out some of the "hidden" games and I'm wanting to test with 1.0, 2.0 and 2.1.

There is a reason I said cool, but not practical. Besides, if I had this, I would also have to get the Sharp TV with the built-in NES.

This is surprisingly easy for me: Microsoft Xbox One I've never even held a controller for one. If I can't use that, then... Atari Jaguar ? Past that will be VERY hard...

Third times the charm :). First attempt I used a 3 button controller, second try I used the 3 button arcade stick which made reverse kicking a lot easier to pull off consistently for me but the stick blows, so third try I used a 6 button pad and really liked it. Both of the 6 button button sticks I have only had 2/3 buttons that were 100% responsive, so I need to take those apart and clean them or something.

I also tried more psu's and the video cable and they all work fine, so it looks like my 32x is borked. No video only audio. Maybe I uber messed up and plugged my CD or Model1 AC adapter into it inadvertently and fried it? I wonder if it's repairable, I have been wanting to do some more electronics repairs soon so maybe I can put this in the to do list pile.

Anyways, kickass game with great tunes (sounds great in my surround sound with my new receiver despite crapty speakers!)

Bring on neutopia!! I'll be playings Ys III now, hope to get through it this month as well!

Not exactly retro related, but damn the Xbox One X is a step up from the OG Xbox One. Definitely not worth the full price of admission, but if you can whittle the price down with some trades or sale of your existing console I say go for it. I find it ironic that the day I finally upgraded was the day they released the enhancement patch for Forza Horizon 3, my main reason for wanting the X :)

Yeah, if you can haggle someone down to, maybe a hundred bucks for that piece of trash, brand new in the box, it might be a good investment.

If you can find some games that don't run at sub 30fps anyways.

Net cost to me on the X after selling my existing xbone, OG model 1tb, is an elite controller which I can do without and $150. I find that pretty acceptable. The performance is certainly one aspect, but it is so much smaller and quieter and has a built in psu instead of the huge ass brick of the original. Strong 8/10 for the price paid. Again I wouldn't advocate it at $500 though for sure.

Ouch, I cut my finger on your cynicism!

If you don't mind missing out on PS4 exclusives they play multiplats much better and look much better from what I've seen on my PS4 Pro. Interested to see how things progress moving forward, since most of the XBOX stuff's actually going back to update older titles.

I currently have a N64 Everdrive and I don't have an N64 anymore. Take it off my hands or trade me a RGB or HDMI modded N64!

SoR3's sound is so amazing that sound is screwed up on that disc though frown Maybe it's just the sound effects are heavily clipped and that combined with the sawblades-against-a-metal-pole soundtrack make the whole thing sound bad.

I figured you guys would humor me a bit so I can post this (cuz I'm excited beyond all get out):

image

I bought these back in 1997 off some dude in Japan on usenet: 28x40 arcade posters for Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Rival Schools (Legion of Heroes). They have been sitting in my parents house along with some other posters, and, finally, after two decades, I had them mounted and framed and just finished hanging them in my photography studio. I have a bunch more in various sizes, but these two are my favorites. MSHvsSF is my all time favorite favorite illustration ever. I love the layout and the colors.

I actually have a smaller Saturn promo poster (28x20) that I also framed today to bring home and hang in my apartment

image

It's literally been 21 years that I've been waiting for a time when I can give these some attention, and friends and family chipped in and gave me the cash specifically so I could get these three framed and mounted.

I'm so happy. I have these right over my workstation in my studio. Every time I look up, there they are. Fudging awesome.

Here is the smaller Saturn MSHvsSF hanging at the apartment:

and everything I have bought for myself over the years:

The SFZ3, SFEX2 and Star Gladiator posters have been framed for a long long time; did those around 2000 when I was working at EB and used a place in the mall that overall I wasn't happy with. They moved back into hibernation.

I love these so much. If there was ever a fire, that huge MSHvsSF poster is one of the things I'd grab.

Love it. love

I love seeing posters and other gaming related print ads. I think we are seeing less and less of these frown

I like your monitor hats. But the posters are cool too.

Lunar can you hook me up with the image achievement icon, and add Streets of Rage to a 2018 games I beat list? Thanks bud!

I tried to start Ys III last night, but fell asleep during the intro and missed some of the text, so I just turned it off when the game proper started and figured I'll pick it up tonight when I am less sleepy. Am I forgetting, or is there more narrative in the Genesis version than the SNES?

@Sid_Ceaser I loved seeing these the first time in the PS4 thread and they are just as great to look at again. Looks like some you didn't post before too, unless I'm not remembering right. Awesome stuff. I already have too many posters but this tempts me to get some of my favourites. I really liked that same era of fighting games. I think my first choice would probably be something from Last Blade 2.

Considering it; I'd have to burn a copy. The scrolling I've seen in the videos scares me away, and I love the genesis soundchip so the music being better isn't that huge of a difference for me when weighing the plus/minus of the two versions. My PCE Loyalist attitude is the largest contributing factor, but I already have the genesis hooked up and am in that mega-drive-mood after finish SoR :P

Also maybe just make it smaller and add it to who's on in the future.
