new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I will definitely need to do some house cleaning on the OP, and think of a better way to add the icons.

Making it small and same size, putting them next to user name seems nice and cool. Would be nice to see who's got the most achievemenachievement awards. Guess we will worry about when there are too many when the time comes. Also, immensely helpful if someone can lend a hand making them GTZ icon size. smile

I'm going to go hard on SOR3 for the rest of the week. Just thinking of the best way to play it, Sega Genesis or I recently discovered it is part of the sega vintage collection on Microsoft Xbox 360 arcade, I thought this just had the first two, which is backwards compatible on Xbox One. This would mean I could play upstairs where its easier to keep on eye on the kiddos and also have a pause/resume feature which could be handy.

Oh man, is the idea to build up and keep the icons over time? That seems like it would get crazy.

Here are your tiny icons. Set the height to 18px. Sampling to nearest neighbor. Photoshop wizard here.

If we want to go icon-crazy I think a single icon or two with an incrementing number would help reign it in a bit, like how the stars work.

Beating SoR3 should get you some kind of lifetime achievement award, good luck.

Play it on Genesis 100%, looks and sounds WAY better.

Just me or do the smaller ones look less impressive?

I'd like to see alot of icons. I think by the current system, the most you can get is 24, which shouldn't be too bad. Once the year is over, I will spoiler tag them and start the new year fresh.

I worked for EB around the time of PSX/Saturn. I've also had this for the last two decades sitting in my old closet. Some day I'll find a place for it on a wall:

Some day I will find a collector hard-core enough to pay for this baby.

I know nothing about sealed game prices, but I know the serious sealed people want sealed because because they're as mint as possible. I don't see any appeal in damaged sealed games, so if I can get more for a bad sealed game than a mint opened one, I'm pretty happy. It looks like a nice sealed on sold for $190 last year.

Yeah down sampling with nearest neighbor is the easiest and fastest but danm it breaks a lot of the pixels.

Where are the originals from? They should really be re-drawn within the boundaries of the GTZ Icon requirements

It does indeed work, it works with all the OG accessories even the NES Advantage stick (my RetroUSB AVS does not, ports are too close), although I put in an extension plug whenever I bust out the Power Pad as I want to make damn sure that this doesn't go falling off the table (the legs are notoriously flimsy).

My set is pretty minty even by @ErickRPG standards and mostly complete, the two unique controllers and the remote that turns on the TV and Game seperately. Only bummer is that it has RF input only, so its only a NES station at the moment.

When I bought Shining the Holy ark sealed with damaged case it was for less than sealed price. So it was more about getting a super mint disc and booklet and I could replace the case. So there are unique instances like that. Like I'll buy used PS2 games but replace the case with brand new cheap PS2 game cases.
