new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Shining Force really isn't as hard as everybody thinks it is. If the only thing from Shining Force is dumb AI then I'm pretty sure SOR has it beat there too.

SOR is the most Mediocre game we've had as Let's play together I'm sorry but there's no way you can spin it to me where I will see it any other way. I'm sure the music is okay like DD says but I won't know until I get into it later this month. I've seen a few screen shots here and there that still make me cringe thinking about playing (slogging, really) through it. But if Default can beat it twice as much as he seemed to enjoy it I'm sure I can do the same.

The only thing I'm hoping is that the adult me can put my childhood preconceived notions about what I didn't like about it and compare the 2 Streets of Rage games and give each a fair chance now. I mostly want to figure out the good things I like about each of them over the other.

I know I liked some of the backgrounds in SOR 2 already so I'm hoping there will be similar redeeming qualities in the first one. The graphics were always the one area that I could enjoy Genesis games and for the most part that's what I liked best about Streets of Rage also.

I still have Zelda 2 on Nes over the snes Zelda but I played both as a kid and haven't played Zelda 2 as an adult but I do like the snes version now and didn't when I was younger.

My fave Zelda I've played is still the original gameboy version but it could be just nostalgia again. I still want the gbc version of it though one of these days either way.

Well I could definitely see myself playing three different versions of the same Zelda game all at the same time on three different systems now.

But I still don't want to open up my snes classic. I might still give it to my ex fiance eventually 😍 She loves Zelda, Mario Kart and her favorite Mario is Super Mario World so I think that's the best home for it 😉

@BleedingViolet Eh I'd rate it higher than Pulseman.

I'd say LTTP is the best Zelda game.

@CoachMcGuirk Vitas with HDMI out. They don't support all games but that is easily bypassed. Anything touch screen heavy isn't really worth playing but that's only a few games.

Did you even play PulseMan? That's maybe my favorite other than Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden we've played together.

Also I thought if you actually updated the Vita tv past a certain point I thought you couldn't bypass that later?

PStv - can you link your profile and get trophies on those fudgeers? If so, I might be sold.

I got Phantasy Star Sega Master System CIB if someone has a new-ish one if the above is the case.

@BleedingViolet

Not for gotm but I've played it.

That is true but any sealed PSTV will be totally fine. :) I got them on the dirt cheap. I got a bundle one that ended up being free after selling off the controller, digital game code etc... and then a couple of the non-bundle systems for $20 each.

I would 100% buy a PS4 physical version.

Oh @Lunar we should make Cuphead the game of the month at some point or get it into a vote. It's the definition of retro. cool smile

I believe it was entertained to be an option right when Cuphead was about to released then the hype died down.

Im waiting for a sub $10 price

Lol I said this like 6 months ago which makes it even more retro now 😉

So of course I would vote for it even if I can't play it. Just so other people could check it out if they like. Just not for February.

Also @Lunar I was thinking for Fourth of July maybe we do another themed month like some army type shoot em up like a version of contra or something.

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah I got that Japanese BC ps3 from lunar last year and haven't done much with the BC portion of it and want to get into the stuff. Imports for ps1 will be a nice compliment to the Saturn collection too. Currently waiting for an import of initial d for ps3 to get in the mail though, so I may get into ps3 more too.

They said it's coming. Probably milking their digital and fake physical empty box sales. They're going to make obscene amounts of money by strategically releasing it so everyone buys it twice or buys the super fancy collector's editions.

I probably would have got more into import PS1 if the PS2 I had was better about reading cds. The barrier to import with PS1 makes import stuff on Sat/PS1 generally a fair bit cheaper on PS1.

PS3 has a few nice import shooters. Nice choice on the Initial D game.

This isn't any worse than ps4 and ps vita lrg or Nintendo intentionally shorting the stocks on all their limited crap.

This is maybe a better game than anything lrg has made and Nintendo makes great playing games but Cuphead looks to be on an even higher level than most of the Nes and snes classic games. Of course I've only seen it, hopefully it plays as good as it looks and sounds.

Yeah I've been more interested in this stuff recently because my ntsc ps2 is finally beyond help with the laser as the DVD lens is 100% shot. I've already replaced the laser once and just figure I'll get another one someday but no rush.

CD-I? That potentially intrigues me...

Anyway... stuff I don't need... maybe a modem cart for the N64? (I have to be careful, because sometimes I get an urge to look into a Satellaview also.) I think I had a PS1 screen, despite no working PS1. In theory I think I can use everything else I have...?

Lol, RPGs have definitely become a challenge for me, i can't seem to stay interested for very long. It will have to be a very focus effort. Like Celceta right now....I will play nothing else!

Prob in release order. I need to start to not care as much about playing games in a series in from beginning to end, it really had kept me from playing some of the best games.

Don't. You're gonna get frustrated at the random titles it should be able to play and for some reason can't. PSP, PSOne, PS Vita, so much crap where you're looking at the marketplace or popping it in and it's like, either not there or doesn't work and you're like "Butt fudging why"

I was thinking some obscure bullcrap that I am the only thread member who owns it. I have so many vns too... I thought about suggesting Napple Tale for February for obvious reasons but realized I'd be the only one playing it (plus the small fact that it would never win the vote) and it's a game I've already beat. Or we could just play Blue Stinger. image

Also am I the only person in this thread that has Dreamcast games released in non-standard cases? Maybe @dunno001 can save me from this distinction. I have a couple in clear dvd cases, another in a fairly unique hard case and one in a digipak of all things. The case art all fits perfectly and I bought them sealed so I know these are the original cases.

The story is back in the olden days video game collecting wasn't a high stakes bidding war for $1000 copies of Earthbound. Blue Lightning was $0.50 so I thought it would be funny to have a shelf of them.

Meh, I don't really need that as I don't do FPS or the latest MMORPG stuff. Factorio looks great at 60Hz. :)

Do you have an AMD video card? Don't get Freesync monitors if you don't, and don't get Gsync monitors if you do. 240hz refresh rate's a bit overkill imo, you'll probably never be playing anything that runs it, and you literally can't tell the difference between 144 and 240 with the human eye.

You could probably get a comparable TN 144hz 1080p display for half that though.

I'm going to assume that non-standard means not in a jewel case. In that case, no, I don't have any. Of course, I only own 33 games for it. I want to say I remember the Japanese special edition of Grandia 2 (sold because I have the US version) was in a digipack case with slipcover?

That Alienware monitor literally has a $100 tax for the Alienware name. $200's the most you should ever pay for a 144hz monitor.

I'd been waiting for this one to come down so I grabbed it. I hope they fixed the voices or the Japanese is an option...the first trailer was tod2/cross edge level bad. Real bad. Like they just had their kids do it instead of even semi pro VA's.

Earlier I think playying asked about things you cant use or just have for collectarding. The only physical psp game I have is crisis core but don't have a psp..but can play digitally if I ever want to play again ...(or on ppsspp because psp games at 5x resolution is sweet). I also have a launch Dreamcast but didn't keep any games for it. Loved the system but most of that is same story..emu'd and upscaled is great. Also don't keep a crt hooked up, wouldn't have room to.

Thanks for posting that monitor dd I've been thinking about getting one that price for that performance looks pretty nice.

I may grab that aoc for 204 if it's drill available next week..when I got my new PC I got a cheaper 89 dollar how monitor that I can use as a second monitor and play on the 144. I got the cheapy monitor so I could spend a little more at the time on the PC, but I think it's holding the OC back from looking as good as it could. It's still ips though so not total junk.

Ya gypsy I grabbed the PS4 version. It comes with a real book too. Weird to think that now that's a strange thing.

US Super Mario 2 is still better than the other three SMB titles but SMB 3 is still really good. And I love SMW because of my ex. Actually sharing games with significant others and really tight homegirls is always a different and better experience.

You have to go at the claw boss from above and grab him or do regular attacks. Don't jump at him that doesn't work. Approaching him in a straight line will result in pain too.

I know what you mean in a way. I don't have the internet here so I can only play my 360 offline. The lag actually helps make some of Mileenas moves easier to time but now after playing offline against the hardest AI I finally beat it with her in arcade on the hardest setting no dropped combos or anything.

But I wouldn't be able to switch back to a stick the way I play her now. So I can only imagine how hard it was to stay on your level switching controllers after getting perfectly in sync with a regular controller. Do you lose any online matches you would normally breeze through on the joystick?

Mortal Kombat XL is good but the pacing and combos felt better to me on MK9. But if you didn't already get really into that one you would probably like the pacing of MKXL better at first.

I have lost alot..I've dropped five or six ranks, I feel like quite a few of them I'd win otherwise, but hard to say in most cases. Rank isn't always a factor..a low level players could have been just practicing like crazy in non ranked before jumping into ranked or a series veteren who just got the game..sometimes you run into someone in the 2nd tier who clearly is better than that.

Looking forward to DBZ fighterz as well, also need to play injustice 2, blazblue and guilty gear xrd..but it's hard to find the time to get any good at more than one fighter, I play them for a bit and go back to tekken. And of.course soul Calibur

No I was asking about the votes mostly, since that determines what actually is getting played the following month.

I thought you meant if we pass a game of the month the previous month our votes count as 1(+1) towards the game we are voting for starting with the march lets play together game (Zelda 😍 )

Mario 3 isn't a vote for game of the month. He's just wondering which Mario game is better because he thinks people agreeing with him will make me see it differently. Lol at that! I've been playing SMB games for over 25 years I know which ones I like best.

But also in this context I think you meant Neutopia over Zelda for game of the month, but do you actually like Neutopia better than snes Zelda? I don't think anybody else is actually saying that they do like Neutopia better just that they'd rather play that over Zelda next month.

So I guess my question is, do you actually like Neutopia better than Zelda on Snes?

Link to the Past is one of the best games of all time I doubt there are many at all that like Neutopia more. However everyone in this thread has already played LttP a million times. That's the main reason I voted for Neutopia.

US Mario 2 is a bad game imo, I'm not trying to change your opinion I was just legitimately curious what the rest of the thread thought @BleedingViolet

Just because it's not your style doesn't make it a bad game, that's just silly.

When it comes to platformers there really are some games that are really well thought out. SMB 2 and 3 are two of the best all time.

When I first started playing PulseMan I was kind of underwhelmed by everything but the graphics and music but once I figured out how to control the character the way they meant for me to play it it was a blast for me.

That's why I think so many people have a hard time liking Castlevania 1 despite its mostly perfect (for the way they want you to play) level designs.

The jumping mechanic adds difficulty to the game that most people believe shouldn't be there. People also think it's too slow, but that's a different type of game that you play for running around and avoiding enemies. I think Castlevania does everything right but not if you want to play it like a Mario game.

Castlevania 1 and 2 are honestly not that good. But the series get a LOT better at it goes. Rondo is one of the greatest games ever as is SOTN though it is a totally different style of game.

With Doki Doki Panic I am trying to be objective, I just don't think it is that good. I think a lot of old games are crapty, even ones I have played and beat this year like Vigilante.

Pulseman is extremely mediocre.

Yeah and it auto-declined immediately I wonder what the threshold is. It's the cheapest copy available and the next cheapest the hucard itself is really unpleasant looking unfortunately.

It won't be from the previous month. It will have to be two months apart. For example: beat SoR for January, get your vote counted double in March. This will hopefully encourage participants to play. It skips a month because right now its still January, and people(including me) are still trying to beat SoR, and our voting for February will be done and over with before the months end. Logistically speaking there won't be any sort of cusion to sort out the votes.

PulseMan is great actually. I can zip through the levels with ease and it's probably one of my favorite platformers I've ever played now.

As far as Castlevania 1 and 2 I couldn't disagree more even though I didn't like 2 as much as most of the other ones, I'd put Castlevania 1 right up there with SMB 2 as one of my favorites and Ninja Gaiden 1 is right up there with them. Again I could SEE why you might not like it, but I think it's just a style thing. Kinda like with SMB 2 or maybe you just hate cutesy characters (which I happen to love and is part of all of the Mario games charm for me). SMB 2 was super cute though and I loved it.

Also don't even start with that boring weak ass argument about SOTN being the be all and end all of good Castlevania games. If you're not good at Castlevania games I can see why that game has the most appeal. It's seriously overrated ..... I've been playing Castlevania since childhood and that game was kinda fun, kinda long, I guess, but also compared to other Castlevania games like no challenge whatsoever. I feel like I'm on autopilot going through that game.

But I guess whatever floats your boat. To each their own. I don't play Castlevania just to breeze through it. If I wanted to do that I could just do the holy water trick in the first one.

I think the best for me was submitting an offer for a Magic booster box ($90-ish product) for a dollar less and it was auto-declined.

I agree the auto-decline threshold should be percentage based. Like 20% would be fine even.

Odyssey couldn't keep me interested. All 3D Mario games feels the same pretty much. I guess I've outgrown it or something because I have no feelings anymore.

Not even the new 2D ones are all that interesting to me.

He then accepted the return, printed out a return label, AND THEN refunded me almost immediately after, and is now asking me to ship it back anyways, even though i'm pretty sure that just closed the case, and now i'm not under any obligation to do a thing.

Was it Hit Japan? Usually if you go 80% or higher for asking price and offer up on more than one item they're willing to play ball, but if it's just one thing, I could see them flipping you the bird.

Nope. HJ is good about taking offers but usually their starting price is higher.

They're always good about testing their product and describing and photographing their stuff so I don't mind paying a few cents more than the lowest BIN for them, especially since they're good about taking offers on items that are actually trash in Japan. Never had a HJ I didn't like!

In general I agree. Sometimes though they are like $21 more than the cheapest loose Final Soldier. I have a few HJ items in my watch list but that won't be one of them.

SoR2 down. Switched to Axel, omg. Blaze might as well be Dan. There's no roadblock bosses in this game and the fighting system has more depth, so that's fun.

Phenomenally well made game. I thought I would still prefer SoR because of nostalgia but this is definitely a lot better in every way (except you can't jump one way then kick the other way like in SoR).

It's all good I was so in love with SMB3 when it came out. Its not like I don't still love it and have so many great memories of it. The colors and music are both great gameplay in both is great! It's totally just personal preference.

The only thing about SMB3 that seems not AS good that stands out (very little to me mind you, but still) is the bosses are too similar to one another. Not because they all attack the same way just character design I guess. Again it's a very small distinction for me. They're both amazing to me though even today. Two of the best games ever!

I didn't say I thought you hated games. I asked if you even liked games anymore, lol. Like @Lunar posted a couple times on here recently I think we all become disillusioned with what makes games fun for us.

Also it was the Dragon Warrior stuff that finally made me question if you still liked games. I "kind of" get why PulseMan isn't your thing. But again after playing it extensively I really got into it. You beat it in one night, so we definitely didn't have the same experience with it.

Well nobody likes grinding if the game isn't fun. But the fights in Dragon Warrior are over so quickly. I always loved the fast pace of that. Before I gave it to my brother with the retron 1 a few months ago I could play DW1 or Ninja Gaiden 1 or Castlevania 1 for a little bit of fun at a time. I sent him all three of those games ..... And now I will need to buy another copy of each lol.

But if you're trying to beat Dragon Warrior or almost any older RPG in one sitting of course you'll get frustrated. I play for an hour or two at a time and enjoy it. If you try to slog through any game it will suck. That's why I'm waiting to finish a different game this month before I start Streets of Rage. I don't want to make myself hate it I'm trying to be as positive as possible and give it every chance to surprise me after all these years.

You know, despite my outward objections in this thread to it. I'm still going to play it with an open mind for sure.

Well I watched that recently, so it would probably be Zeta Gundam or Ranma. But I mean, if a game makes me want to watch something while I'm playing it, doesn't that just mean the game isn't entertaining me?

When I'm playing video games that aren't on my phone I'm literally running swagbucks videos in the background on my phone so even in a high intensity action platformer like ninja gaiden I'm earning tiny amounts of ecredits which is even easier in dragon warrior.

So every 45 seconds or so I'm actually pressing the next video on my phone. I'm not totally just wasting time playing games. Not that I think playing games for fun or a challenge or just to wind down IS a waste of time. But I like doing both at the same time.

Streets of Rage 3 just isn't happening. I get the need for very difficult games. It's what I want in a platformer or rhythm game, but I really can't hack it with the big boys here. The Stage 2 boss is the twins and they're way harder than they are in SoR1. This is one of those seriously dedicate yourself to it because you're not getting any more Sega games until Christmas kind of games. I don't have the nostalgia of SoR1 or goodness and cheese-ability of SoR2 to pull me through. Also Yuzo Koshiro must have had a stroke because the music sucks.

And I don't want any crap from you BleedingViolet on giving up so quickly on this. I powered through SoR1. That was my triumph for the month raspberry

It was very experimental. It has its moments but largely seems to be a collection of bizarre tracks without any cohesive themes to pull them together. Definitely sprinted away from the pop synth he'd done before, probably because by SoR2 he was sick of making the same songs over and over again.

heres an interesting one, whats the most well known system you've never played a game on, it can even be just trying it on a demo kiosk, its not necessarily what you've never owned, its what you've never touched in any way.

I thiiiink for me, that miiiight be Sega Master System ..I dont recall ever trying one at a funcoland or instore kiosk, but that doesn't mean I didn't, by the time I was starting to be able to handle a control pad in the late 80s Nintendo Entertainment System NES was the only game in town, and we had an Atari already. I know I tried bonks adventure on a NEC TurboGrafx-16 somewhere, and even 3DO and Atari Jaguar at circuit city type places. I had a CD-i (Compact Disc Interactive) even.

Way overpriced system, I don't care how arcade-close some of these ports look to be. Looked at a "20 games that defined the Marty FM" and it's like, six LucasArts point and click games, Bubble Bobble and a bunch of moldy shmups. $340, get the fudge out. I'd rather go after Neo Geo.

Exactly. It's got a lot of ports of PC Engine games too (many of which were later ported to Saturn as well). Obviously just get those Lucas Arts games off GOG. Just totally not worth it. I guess there is a reason it's the only console I can think of that I've never touched. I have never owned the N64 disc drive but I have dicked around on one before.

Like, its bad enough I barely can get game time in, I have all these shows and movies, and its like 2 hours for Super Man 1? Yea, I'll get to it some day.

How do you guys watch TV/Movies/Anime?
One sitting of 2-3 hours? Or more like 30-60 minutes on 2-3 occasions(for a long movie)?

And Anime shows? I guess 1-2 episodes a day would be a common thing.

It's sad but if I don't "schedule" myself a movie watching session, I never will be able to. There's always stuff to take care of.

Yep! Skipped Wesker's Report but the show's just as wonderful as I remember it. Still my most watchable MS series.

Watching, depends. Long term series, I'll watch 2-3 episodes as I go to bed, and if it's keeping me up I'll watch more. Weekdays it's mostly gaming unless I'm tired, but if I'm not I'll watch for 2-3 hours after work too. If it's a good 13 episode series I could probably easily blow that in one sitting.

Jaguar's an experience to have, but it's too expensive now to recommend picking one up. Hell, when I picked one up it cost around $650 to get the system and the dozen or so games even worth playing on it, and I still had to miss out on a few. And that stock controller is fudging shiiiiiiit. Complete ass.

It is home to the best Wolfenstein home conversion ever, though. And AVP and Tempest 2000 were pretty dope.

Where the hell are you seeing CIB $150 Jaguars? The cheapest Jaguar I can find on eBay is like, $119, no hooks or controller and it's broken.

I jumped on a CIB for $120 3-4 years back when I knew it was gonna start shooting up just to get my hands on it for a bit, but they're even more dumbly priced now. The games are at butt-hole prices as well.

I got it for like nothing on sale, and no I didn't buy the 90 dollar dlc. and figure i'll play a couple short games before watching another show and then starting a longer ish game. gonna try and back and forth rotation. i also may watch shorter things on weeknights when i don't have that much time to play and play more focused around long weekend sessions.

I think @KiltedGunstar was selling a bundle for about $180 with some games.

I saw another bundle for $180 with some games on NA.

I generally watch some stuff before I go to bed most nights. Sometimes a movie, if I'm on an anime like 3-5 episodes of that. Sometimes with a movie I will get too tired to finish and have to wrap it up the next night. So sometimes it's a battle, but I get stuff watched. I'm nowhere near done with that stack of Criterion blus I bought, so it's a fine time to be on a buying freeze. Though lately I'm more caught up in Witcher 2.

There is a reason I said cool, but not practical. Besides, if I had this, I would also have to get the Sharp TV with the built-in NES.

This is surprisingly easy for me: Microsoft Xbox One I've never even held a controller for one. If I can't use that, then... Atari Jaguar ? Past that will be VERY hard...

Third times the charm :). First attempt I used a 3 button controller, second try I used the 3 button arcade stick which made reverse kicking a lot easier to pull off consistently for me but the stick blows, so third try I used a 6 button pad and really liked it. Both of the 6 button button sticks I have only had 2/3 buttons that were 100% responsive, so I need to take those apart and clean them or something.

I also tried more psu's and the video cable and they all work fine, so it looks like my 32x is borked. No video only audio. Maybe I uber messed up and plugged my CD or Model1 AC adapter into it inadvertently and fried it? I wonder if it's repairable, I have been wanting to do some more electronics repairs soon so maybe I can put this in the to do list pile.

Anyways, kickass game with great tunes (sounds great in my surround sound with my new receiver despite crapty speakers!)

Bring on neutopia!! I'll be playings Ys III now, hope to get through it this month as well!

Not exactly retro related, but damn the Xbox One X is a step up from the OG Xbox One. Definitely not worth the full price of admission, but if you can whittle the price down with some trades or sale of your existing console I say go for it. I find it ironic that the day I finally upgraded was the day they released the enhancement patch for Forza Horizon 3, my main reason for wanting the X :)

Net cost to me on the X after selling my existing xbone, OG model 1tb, is an elite controller which I can do without and $150. I find that pretty acceptable. The performance is certainly one aspect, but it is so much smaller and quieter and has a built in psu instead of the huge ass brick of the original. Strong 8/10 for the price paid. Again I wouldn't advocate it at $500 though for sure.

Ouch, I cut my finger on your cynicism!

If you don't mind missing out on PS4 exclusives they play multiplats much better and look much better from what I've seen on my PS4 Pro. Interested to see how things progress moving forward, since most of the XBOX stuff's actually going back to update older titles.

SoR3's sound is so amazing that sound is screwed up on that disc though frown Maybe it's just the sound effects are heavily clipped and that combined with the sawblades-against-a-metal-pole soundtrack make the whole thing sound bad.

I figured you guys would humor me a bit so I can post this (cuz I'm excited beyond all get out):

image

I bought these back in 1997 off some dude in Japan on usenet: 28x40 arcade posters for Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Rival Schools (Legion of Heroes). They have been sitting in my parents house along with some other posters, and, finally, after two decades, I had them mounted and framed and just finished hanging them in my photography studio. I have a bunch more in various sizes, but these two are my favorites. MSHvsSF is my all time favorite favorite illustration ever. I love the layout and the colors.

I actually have a smaller Saturn promo poster (28x20) that I also framed today to bring home and hang in my apartment

image

It's literally been 21 years that I've been waiting for a time when I can give these some attention, and friends and family chipped in and gave me the cash specifically so I could get these three framed and mounted.

I'm so happy. I have these right over my workstation in my studio. Every time I look up, there they are. Fudging awesome.

Here is the smaller Saturn MSHvsSF hanging at the apartment:
image

and everything I have bought for myself over the years:
image
image

The SFZ3, SFEX2 and Star Gladiator posters have been framed for a long long time; did those around 2000 when I was working at EB and used a place in the mall that overall I wasn't happy with. They moved back into hibernation.

I love these so much. If there was ever a fire, that huge MSHvsSF poster is one of the things I'd grab.

Lunar can you hook me up with the image achievement icon, and add Streets of Rage to a 2018 games I beat list? Thanks bud!

I tried to start Ys III last night, but fell asleep during the intro and missed some of the text, so I just turned it off when the game proper started and figured I'll pick it up tonight when I am less sleepy. Am I forgetting, or is there more narrative in the Genesis version than the SNES?

@Sid_Ceaser I loved seeing these the first time in the PS4 thread and they are just as great to look at again. Looks like some you didn't post before too, unless I'm not remembering right. Awesome stuff. I already have too many posters but this tempts me to get some of my favourites. I really liked that same era of fighting games. I think my first choice would probably be something from Last Blade 2.

Considering it; I'd have to burn a copy. The scrolling I've seen in the videos scares me away, and I love the genesis soundchip so the music being better isn't that huge of a difference for me when weighing the plus/minus of the two versions. My PCE Loyalist attitude is the largest contributing factor, but I already have the genesis hooked up and am in that mega-drive-mood after finish SoR :P

I will definitely need to do some house cleaning on the OP, and think of a better way to add the icons.

Making it small and same size, putting them next to user name seems nice and cool. Would be nice to see who's got the most achievemenachievement awards. Guess we will worry about when there are too many when the time comes. Also, immensely helpful if someone can lend a hand making them GTZ icon size. smile

I'm going to go hard on SOR3 for the rest of the week. Just thinking of the best way to play it, Sega Genesis or I recently discovered it is part of the sega vintage collection on Microsoft Xbox 360 arcade, I thought this just had the first two, which is backwards compatible on Xbox One. This would mean I could play upstairs where its easier to keep on eye on the kiddos and also have a pause/resume feature which could be handy.

I'd like to see alot of icons. I think by the current system, the most you can get is 24, which shouldn't be too bad. Once the year is over, I will spoiler tag them and start the new year fresh.

I know nothing about sealed game prices, but I know the serious sealed people want sealed because because they're as mint as possible. I don't see any appeal in damaged sealed games, so if I can get more for a bad sealed game than a mint opened one, I'm pretty happy. It looks like a nice sealed on sold for $190 last year.

It does indeed work, it works with all the OG accessories even the NES Advantage stick (my RetroUSB AVS does not, ports are too close), although I put in an extension plug whenever I bust out the Power Pad as I want to make damn sure that this doesn't go falling off the table (the legs are notoriously flimsy).

My set is pretty minty even by @ErickRPG standards and mostly complete, the two unique controllers and the remote that turns on the TV and Game seperately. Only bummer is that it has RF input only, so its only a NES station at the moment.

When I bought Shining the Holy ark sealed with damaged case it was for less than sealed price. So it was more about getting a super mint disc and booklet and I could replace the case. So there are unique instances like that. Like I'll buy used PS2 games but replace the case with brand new cheap PS2 game cases.
