new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I use a Macbook Air and iPad (mostly the iPad unless I need to do one of the million things an iPad can't do because it's not a real computer). I don't like Mac OS but Apple hardware is consistently super nice.

I am pretty much in the same boat with MacOS, it's well designed and all but I've just been Windows all my life. I actually got rid of my iPads, I am happy with Android lately ever since I switched from iPhone 6s to a Samsung S8.

Mostly an iPad Air 2 here. Like others, I prefer Windows, but my only tablet options there are too small (~7 inch screen) or too expensive (hello, Surface). I refuse to use anything Android, so those are out. And that left me with... this. I do have a relatively old laptop when I need to do something on that, like play on Steam. But it's usually just shut down, like it is now.

My laptop is my main computer so it's pretty beefy: Lenovo Y50, i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD + 1TB HD. I do not own a proper tablet.

I don't do much internetting when I'm not on my phone but here's the two things I actually use right now

iPhone 5s (I think, it's a hand me down I got from my ex fiance for my last bday.) but I actually got used to using safari on it so it's not the end of the world.

Kindle Fire hdx 7 (3rd generation I believe)

But I do have five more tablets 3 kindle fires and a couple I'm not sure the exact models of.

You can download Chrome on iOS, that's always my goto browser.
Jumping to new tablets/laptops have never been easier, all my bookmarks and other google crap are all there.

So my Google Pixel XL came in today, and I'm pretty happy with it. Basically an iPhone 6 form factor but without the bad parts of actually being an iPhone. Very solid build, smooth as silk interface, being able to enjoy the Android platform without any of the bloatware bullcrap's pretty sweet. Plus not having to wait for OTA Android updates that'll never come. Pretty keen.

I have Ipod Touch 6th gen. Mostly for listening to music in my pocket when I make my rounds. I was gonna emulate on it but since I pretty much have every system I've ever wanted, I don't need it for much any more. But some of the apps are handy.

I bought a new PC recently, I-7, not sure the ram but I know I added some more and it's pretty decent plus spent about $150 on a decent graphics card. I got it for Wow and I was able to have everything on max and furthest drawing distance with no slowdown. So it did it's job. Currently not playing wow. I tend to play a bit at the start of a new exp pack and a bit at the end of each exp pack.

I don't know why it is honestly, other than everyone throwing money at it. Overwatch is a fudging mess to watch as a competitive game. You have to be a moderately knowledgeable player to understand why some of these plays ARE plays, and help teams win the game.

Is there a mode in FPS esports where I can fly around as a spectator? I can't get into player's eye views. MOBAs have too much crap going on in them. Starcraft is the only game I ever liked watched as an esport.

Starcraft, you can see the ebb and flow of battles. Counterstrike, you can see one bad ass jerk in a 1v4 cap four people with a pistol with four shots. Overwatch, everyone's humping the objective, there's bubbles everywhere and eventually one team gets caught with their pants down often enough and lose the game.

Isn't overwatch incredibly hypersensitive, and will ban players for the most minor of offenses, be it choosing a character the team doesn't want you to choose, or spamming a voice line too much.

Nah. At least I haven't heard of it, I call people sexually charged terms frequently when appropriate and the worst I get is a "lol" or four "reported" lines in chat, but I think it's all in fun because I've never been reprimanded.

And you actually can't be successfully reported for playing a character in a map or manner that isn't in line with the meta. It's your money, as long as you're not literally keeping your teammates from playing the game there's no reason to punish.

Spamming a voice line, absolutely not. There's anti-flood stuff already in place

I'm not even sure what the hell you're talking about here. Is overwatch some sort of quiddich cup of video games and esports or something. Because that doesn't make much sense to me either.

Blizzard wants it to be, everyone throwing literally hundreds of millions of dollars at the league to start up franchises also wants it to be. It'll probably fizzle out once they realize not only do non-gamers not give a fudge about Overwatch as an e-Sport, but honestly probably Overwatch fans don't either. They want curated FPS highlights, not macro views of objectives being arm wrestled for by two equally matched and boring team compositions.

I remember when friends in HS started WOW, I was just...not into it. Too much time commitment.

So instead, I got addicted to Magic Online. wry smile

MMOs are for people that really want to blow time, money or both.

I'd trade for Zelda BotW Nintendo Switch and some other Nintendo Switch games, let's give it another try now that I will try to play more outside of the house.

Seeing some of you guys selling your older disc collections made me want to do the same, but then I realized all my games are garbage that isn't worth a lot of money and I got sad.
