new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Yeah, that's not too surprising, people are stupid. Once you've made it, which he undoubtedly has you can basically be as crapty as you want in terms of prices and trade-in rates. I've seen it first hand. Have a great location and establish your brand early.

And I mean hey, he should mark up prices right? People are paying so why tf not.

Next episode of Collector's Quest is me and Johnny rambling about these re-releases. I for the most part like them. It's cool to have official releases of games that never came out here. Less cool to charge $100 for Street Fighter II all over again. But $30-60 releases, especially for new, interesting, or normally high-$ games like Holy Diver, sure.

maybe i'll do the same, im pretty certain I played the first one way back, but looking up screenshots is looking pretty unfamiliar. I like the atelier series so I don't think it'll be too bad, gust was pretty awesome around this time, ar tonelico is still one of my favorite ps2 rpgs

He's more neutral. He doesn't really care about anything that isn't licensed by Nintendo. It's all varying levels of crap to him.

I like how easy Ar Tonelico was. Played itself basically.

I know I've beat the first MK, I honestly don't remember if I beat 2 or not.

ya ar tonelico was pretty great, didn't feel stressful to play, the music was great and had a great gust feel to it. I know I had the first mana khemia but never had the second til recently so I know ive never played the second, I cant imagine I didn't play the first one, I almost had to have, but googling it and looking at images isn't ringing a bell. easiest way will be to fire it up for a few mins and then i'll know for sure. probably about to spend a couple weeks fighting til kingdom come deliverance hits with dbz fighters and dissidia NT

Ar Tonelico was just really fun it was actually one of my favourites on PS2 as well @tonymack21 . The first Mana Khemia I just adored, but this was quite awhile ago. Due to the nostalgia factor it's one of the CEs I plan to never get rid of. The Jess figure that it comes with is love.

Is there anything you can actually do when fedex or ups are late? I assume their delivery guarantees don't mean crap but I'm kind of annoyed at fedex right now so I was wondering if anyone here has had luck getting any compensation.

Idea for next month: If we have two months in a row where no one beats the bonus games (SoR 2/3 and ALTTP... seems likely with the difficulty and length), we switch the bonus game to a high score game and have a leaderboard. That will help out these last few days of the month where everyone who has played Streets of Rage has basically already played it, no one's talking about it anymore, and a couple people have already started next month's game early.

Also I'm secretly trying to have an excuse to have a time-limited virtual pinball showdown sometime this year, but that's just a side benefit.

A quick search on Google got me this and this. Apparently, there are also third-party companies that'll do the legwork for you and charge a percentage of the refund. However, I'm not too sure if that's only a service offered to businesses that deal in a lot of shipping volume or if it's also open to individuals.

I work for a company that is pretty big and because it is essentially an oligololy (Fedex,UPS,DHL) even when they miss thier service levels they say sorry, with no recourse. Essentially GFY, we are UPS

Yea, if it seems clear that more than one game is too much or if the bonus is too hard, we will adjust. I never really understand high scores though. Is it like how high you can get with 1 cc?

Typically your score is wiped when you use a continue, so inherently yes how high can you get with one credit.

The highscore game should be voted on too. Let it be a puzzle game, pinball etc... Especially if we vote for a game of the month that doesn't have scoring.

Zero people in the world care about SoR high scores. I don't want to use some lame game like that as a high score game. It has to be a real score attack game. Separate vote from the main game IMO.

Realized I didn't have a Micro SD card left for the Turbo Everdrive, so I had to put in an Amazon Now order for one for $8, but delivery's $5 unless you order $35+, so I also ordered some Sony earbuds since I've been without an audio solution ever since the Pixel came in... putting out all these small fires.

Also did my taxes. Today. Because why the fudge not. Bam, done, see ya next year.

Probably true, that's why selling seemed silly, but trading might make it more worthwhile on this end at least. I think they range in value from like 35-50. This one's in nice shape, no real bubbling to the silver decals. We used to have it in a large bookshelf but have since reduced that shelf down to half-size so it just doesn't work anymore.

Problem with laptops Gypsy: They throttle when they get hot. If you game, they're usually gonna get hot. And the older they are, the easier they throttle. It's why I couldn't keep a Surface for long; they performed magnificently for about 10 minutes and then they took a crap.

@Lunar At least get a laptop that has thunderbolt 3, that would afford you some upgradability in terms of graphics card. You can get a egpu and put in the card you want. I think the Acer Nitro would get you that for cheaper than a grand.

AOC makes good monitors, but for $300 you may want to wait. I imagine there will be adoptive refresh displays (144hz@1440p, 60hz@4K) monitors close to $500 once all the stuff from CES starts hitting the market. Keep in mind Freesync features only work on Radeon cards, and Gsync features only work on Nvidia cards, but baseline performance is still fine. I've got a Freesync monitor I'm using with my GeForce cards that is honestly fine, though without any Gsync experience to link to that, I don't know if I'm talking out my ass. Gsync monitors have pretty ridiculous name taxes associated with them. But for 4K monitors I'd honestly recommend spending extra money, even if it's not adaptive refresh, to get the proper Sync-style for your graphics card. Horizontal tearing's a dog.

I got through the second and started the third dungeon in Neutopia last night. Man, what a fun and easy to play game. Addictive as heck, I am excited to hear other's opinions on it. One thing that I was surprised by / had forgotten, was how helpful most of the NPCs are - the dialog and directions they give you really help move the game along. Playing this one in JP would be a struggle as the over-world design would lead you to wander aimlessly without NPC advice.

My biggest gripe about Neutopia right now is the fact that when you exit a dungeon it wipes your map of where you've been in the dungeon :( Not terribly annoying, esp if you take a picture of the map before you exit, but refilling potions on later dungeons could lead to some backtracking / repeated exploring prior areas of dungeons.

If you guys haven't seen this video on Todd Roger's fake world records, it's a good watch. Over the year's he's a big reason TwinGalaxies has lost credibility, especially for old scores with no evidence. The guy who proved Todd's Dragster record is fake was the first person to get the theoretical lowest Dragster time of 5.57 too, so he's the real champion now funnily enough. Sharif was probably watching that live being the speedrun demon he is.

Even during that retarded King of Kong fiasco they were casting all sorts of fudging shade at Wiebe but literally on the spot with a VHS recording (during a live play event!) they shotgun accepted Mitchell's submission after a casual viewing of an edited tape. So much for standards.

I don't recall the NeoSd product having many issues. There were a few hiccups on the AES side if I recal, but the MVS side was pretty solid. They had a lot of delays getting that product to market, but a lot of it was on the manufacturing side. Cart shells and what not.

The Super System SD joined both a digital and analog ground on the ext connection causing them to recall their boards, and produce one with that corrected. The video output they've shown on their new boards definitely appears to have solved the issue. I'm thankful they're solving the issue, but it does mean I'm out of GoTM for Neutopia :p

C/P of Super SD3 issues

Rather than post on someone else's post. Here are some of the issues I have encountered with the new Super SD System 3.

The videos show graphical noise that is always present, as well as the complete lack of audio with my sound system basically maxed out. Pictures are of graphical errors and missing sprites.

Reposted from Neo-Geo forum:
So I finally got my unit from the day one batch today. I have to say I am disappointed. The video signal is very very bad with lots of noise and in some cases missing colors. The audio is not amplified in any way and I have to max out my speakers to be able to hear it even a little, then it has audible video and processor noise bleeding into it. The casing is nice, but it was not assembled correctly. I ended up removing the screws and reassembling it. The way it was I could not slide it onto my original pc engine. With the casing correctly assembled it does slide on but it doesn't fit straight on the unit and I do notice that it drags on the plastic as it slides on.

As for operation of the device itself, I have run into quite a few issues with the cd playback. I will make the assumption this is my rips, but they do work just fine when played from the CD. The issues I have encountered are the playback freezing completely, the wrong sound effects or music being played, the wrong cutscenes being played or skipping all together. The menu is not very intuitive and I find myself selecting the options constantly. I think it would have made more sense to have 2 be go back, 1 be select, and options be tied to start. That is just my opinion on the buttons.

For the setups I have tried, 2 different Retro-Access csync coaxially shielded genesis2 cables, a cheap genesis2 cable, generic genesis2 composite video cables, direct into my Framemeister, through a GScartsw_lite into the Framemeister, and direct into my PVM-1954Q. I have also tried this with my TurboGrafx 16. Both consoles are fully recapped with no additional RGB amps inside. Both are in perfect working order without the device. Both have had the jailbar fix applied internally.

I would love to be of any assistance in determining how to fix this. NeoSD and NeoDev, please feel free to request information from me.

I beat Contra after you motivated me

I looked up "easy" games to speed run. Even super obscure Game Boy games have some guy who put in modicum of effort to make a good record run at it. There are probably too many dedicated people hunting random obscure records like that. We should just pick a good game. Sharif probably has better insight. @sharif, drop some speedrunning insight on us. I want to include a segment in our monthly events for speedrunning. Considering most of us are newbs, I want a pretty laid back environment for people to fudge around with the game in their leisure time. Basically to get people comfortable enough that they are willing to test the speedrunning waters. I think it's pretty intimidating watching some of those top runs, and people will just get discouraged before even starting.

Yes, the world is so populated and gaming is so popular. Trust me any game already has an insane world record. We should just play to have fun. Competing with eachother in the community sounds fun though.

Me personally I've never understood trophy lovers, and speedrunner record lovers. I love playing games to have fun, not to push myself toward some sort of self set compitition goal.

I did a fun thing on the /r/GameCollecting subreddit years back. For most people speed running a whole game is just too time consuming and or difficult to get a good time. Often requiring innate awareness of how the game processes to abuse the "laws" of the game to get a quicker time.

What we had done for about half a year or so was to run what we called a "3 minute challenge". We basically picked a retro game for the month and said from within 3 minutes of a specific starting frame, go as far as you can, get the most points, whatever. It was a lot of fun, but I would say doing anymore than 3 minutes at a time can be too frustrating when you're trying to optimize it as best as you can. 3 minutes can almost seem like an eternity in that case lol.

I participated in about 4 of the 6. Check out my playlist for an idea of what the submissions looked like if you want: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpZ4clvGz0m...

And of course people are blindly defending them. I really don't get why people jump to defend people selling a product/service. If it isn't good, they effed up and deserve some criticism. At least these guys appear to be handling it right, but I had to kill a guy on PCEFX.

I'm combing through TwinGalaxies and this site is a crap show. Lots of Atari games have just glaringly insane high scores, lots of impossible ones by Todd Rogers too. Top scores in games like Pole Position II and Robotron, also proven impossible, have been "under dispute" for months since people went and actually looked through the database for obviously wrong scores in the past year. The top Centipede 5200 score is exactly 65,000,000, ref validated in 2001. The second place score is 58k, lol. So it's not just BS limited to the 1980s.

Sucks for anyone who put up a legit awesome score without proof. Basically nothing validated by a TG ref is credible anymore.

It's just straight AV, TV out into my capture card. I did notice it looks like garbage but I don't especially care about Genesis so I'm not gonna try to fix it. My NES, SNES, Gamecube and PS1 should look a lot better on stream since I have S-Video with a dedicated powered splitter and I'm looking into a component capture card for OG Xbox and PS2. The rest will just have to look like crap unfortunately. I should note it looks perfectly fine on my TV, it's just the stream capture that looks terrible.

I think the biggest thing with starting to speedrun is to not worry about getting world record. Especially if the game is popular, the record is going to be optimized and it's going to be literally impossible to achieve for someone just starting out. Contra is a great example, there's a mashing technique called the spread rhythm that you need to beat the bases quickly and it involves shooting more bullets than you normally can and it's impossible to get right.

I would just say start with a game you love, and maybe isn't too long. DG's Ninja Gaiden example is actually really good. There's almost no randomness and you can see yourself progress as you practice more. I said Little Mermaid on stream yesterday because it's an easy platformer to beat casually and you can beat the game in under 10 minutes pretty easily. Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers is another good example of that, but in both cases the high level speedrun is actually kind of terrible.

I think speedrunning and high scores can go hand in hand. Speedrunning is just another form of high score(time attack).

Just observing that if there isn't another reputable company a doing respectable archiving, it opens up an opportunity for someone or some organization to come through.

MAGFest is one of my favorites and it's slowly getting consumed by anime as the arcade falls a little bit more into disrepair every year frown Soon I'll just be going for the concerts. You've got the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo nearby. Replay FX is pinball/arcade mecca. Other cons largely have donated machines and volunteer maintenance (i.e. out of order signs and beater games). Replay has a real deal collection of 100s of games with the maintenance staff that handles repairs for the biggest tournament in the world. It's perfect.

That game is WAY too popular for that to be a likely goal to achieve for any of us. I like the idea in theory because contra is a pretty fun game but I'm just thinking it's more realistic to try with a harder more obscure game that we all practice the hell out of.

Just saw like 4 SNESCs in my Best Buy, I said: "Let me grab two of those." BB guy: "I can only give you one". Me: *shrug* "ok."

Are these even profitable anymore?

After NY taxes, it was almost $90

The guy who has the record in Ninja Gaiden (Arcus87 on Twitch, he's a cool dude) has like 17 thousand attempts. No one is even spitting distance from him timewise, he's essentially 10 seconds clear of everyone in a 12 minute game. It's astounding.

You just gotta flippin' and a boom. Nice boom. Slice and dice, that's nice. Bzzzt. The speed run is basically a narrated tutorial.

The hardest thing to emulate will be the wall jumps. Even most high level runners don't bother with it since it only saves like 1/3 of a second per jump and failing one means losing several seconds. Memorizing spinslash drops will be job number 1, and learning the quick kill on 3 with firewheel.

I never said hey let's go for the hardest possible record though.

I said why can't one of us beat a record, if you guys doubt the possibility even exists then yeah, you've basically already lost.

But then again that guy didn't get that record by assuming the guy with 1000 playthroughs was unbeatable before him did he? No he said eff it and hunkered down and got to work.

I might have a personal world record in a game but not for speed. The only problem is that I don't even know if the game in question is even recorded anywhere online for records of any kind.

Guess how I got that good at that game? Playing it relentlessly. There was hardly info on how to even pass it in the first place online unless it's somewhere in Korean or Japanese that I have no way of knowing about.

And it's an RPG. But it can be beat in a half hour, it's a weird little title.

You can definitely find a game where someone here can get record, I agree. I myself run a couple of games where there are only a handful of runs even on the board. But world record hunting isn't really the point of speedrunning imo. If you really want it, here's what you do:

1. Find a game that doesn't have a run on speedrun.com
2. Do one run of that game
3. Submit it.
4. Don't feel any satisfaction

For me, setting my own time goals for a game I enjoy (or Barbie, depending on how I feel that day) is way more satisfying.

Agree with @sharif on those points. Its also fun when there is some local support and competition. We try to make it a friendly competition and if we make it to the boards then all the better. I like Contra and NG1 to try. I'll study some videos.

The game I keep telling you guys about IS a game I love and don't need the recognition for. I literally had to play it over and over again because it was that difficult to beat. I had to keep writing down stats so I could keep track of how I could do what I needed. I may have even beaten it more times than anyone else but I have no way of actually knowing that either.

It doesn't take timing or anything. It's literally part luck and part persistence and part knowledge. But even with all the persistence and knowledge you can (and will) still lose 97% of the time.

It's not even a stand alone game it's a mini game on psp which is one of like 40 different mini games.

Anyways I'm sure you're right about the ninja Gaiden record but it's not the only good game worth going for the record on. I remember you guys talking about Ikari warriors awhile back and even though it doesn't bring back ANY fond memories for me I could see trying it until I could beat it speed run record or not. Anything is possible as long as there is a conceivable goal right?

The main MTG guy I watch has a real comfortable life with it being his only source of income. And Magic streams don't have nearly the viewership numbers of the more popular crap. This guy usually is between 1k and 2k viewers. In addition to all the subs I generally see a donation of $50-100 every night. Plus all the random donations. It helps that he does $2 song requests. That makes some baaaank.

NGCD makes other early CD systems look like they have no load times at all. Legit load times of 30 sec to a minute regularly.

The last two sets have been complete ass for limited play. Even some mostly limited streamers are streaming constructed because of this.

Edit: One of my favorite players Ben Stark hit the nail on the head about the new set. Something to the extent of: "it's a good thing they made all these limited bombs at mythic and even regular rare so we don't have to play engaging games with the actually interesting commons and uncommons in this set".

Italy in particular there is a ton of fraud. I won't ship to Italy or any country in South America.

You never know though in general they have to pay a crap ton for this stuff anyway. I once had someone pay $28 overpriced GSP shipping on a $24 PSP game and I got positive feedback on that transaction.

I honestly just disable all foreign shipping now but if someone messages me like a human being and sounds reasonable in messages I will add the option and mail it to them if they are somewhere like Canada, England etc...

For $25, its not a bad bluetooth speaker. Also if you need it for DVDO. The audio converter i had to get was about half the price

It is cheap, it's insignia. A bad soundbar.

I wouldn't completely agree with @Gypsy. I have an LG soundbar + subwoofer hooked up to my DVDO gaming set up downstairs and it's much better sound than the TV. I also have a Klipsch soundbar + subwoofer on my 65" and I use it when I play roku and Xbox 360. They offer a pretty substantial improvement over tv.

I have a cheap Vizio soundbar from Dell for $80, mounted on top of my 32" TV. Its always annoying to have to switch the source though if I want some bluetooth. Ill be hooking up the insignia to Echo Dot/Google Home Mini.

Soundbar sounds fine to me and saves me space. But then again, I ain't no audiophile

I honestly should just keep the Switch for these Psikyo games alone. Strikers I & II are like $100+ on Saturn. Switch being able to play in tate is definitely a huge plus for shmups

I do foreign shipping on games under $30 and charge $19.99 for shipping, usually make $5+ on it and can afford to lose that much. Any more expensive than that it goes GSP.

Lunar Bucks! Sounds good. I bought plenty of USB-C cables for my S8 so not a problem on charging cable, as long as the controller is in decent shape

Dang, @DiamondDave! I finally got a chance to mess around with that HDMI modified Nintendo GameCube (GameCube) and Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Player (GameCube) and -- HOLY CRAP! -- that thing's awesome!! Playing Game Boy Advance in all its big-screen digital glory is truly a thing to behold. But, the best part is something I actually didn't even know about. The mod job isn't just the HDMI output: it's also region-free now. So, for the first time ever, I got to try out a video game that's been hiding out in my collection for well over a decade: Hudson Selection Volume 3: PC Genjin (GameCube). Getting to actually pop that in and play through the first couple levels was a really neat experience and I wanna thank you, sir, for helping make it possible. love

The xenoblade controller looks like it's hard to find now? I asked for it for christmas from my wife but she got me socks and golf shoes :P I should've just bought it for myself when it was sitting on shelves

My CD-R's arrived and last night I had an excellent CD burning session, felt like 2002 popping discs in out out and surfing the dark webs :P

NEC PC Engine playlist I went through on my quest to burn games
Steam hearts - easy shooter at first with funny weird boob scenes between
Ys IV - holy crap I am excited to start playing it, what a job by the translation team and the original game is super impressive as well - you can really see the calibur of development behind it - easily the most impressive start to a Ys game yet to me.
Spriggan - again, wow I am surprised this isn't talked about more, the powerup system is bad ass, controls are great, and the presentation is fantastic. I think this is a game I'll put on to show people what's up with the PCE :P
Ys III - I am torn and kinda wish I played this version instead of the Genesis version because of the presentation. The graphics are better, the music is better, and I like the feel of the control and character sprites better. The scrolling is headache inducing broken, the translation and story presentation is much worse (judging from the opening scenes up through the first area), despite voiced characters, it was a bit harder to know what was going on. I don't think I'll play through this again, but I will watch a playthrough to see what other differences there are.
Exile - This game I've been wanting to play for a long time, and plan to play after Ys IV and Neutopia, but just starting the game and trying to quickly get to combat I got stuck. Looking forward to checking this one out more.

Yeah, Xeno-modded gives ya region-free, so you can play just about gosh darn anything. But the HDMI output's pretty fantastic on that, I don't think I'll be able to use a composite output on an HDMI television again honestly. Use the third party GBA players makes a world of difference.

And you're welcome! Glad you're enjoying it. For me it was mostly a curiosity, but it was definitely cool.

It's not that it's not a widely held opinion. It's that it's not a widely known video game. Obscurity can be a double-edged sword as far as this kind of thing goes.

Yeah. Even though most fans now import a lot of Turbo it still hurt the visibility of any game that didn't make it over. Spriggan and Nexzr in particular are very excellent shooters that probably haven't been played enough by shmup fans. Both of them are better than Sapphire, Sylphia, Coryoon and Magical Chase imo. Those 4 have really bloated price points. Though at this point Magical Chase might somehow be underrated in terms of it's merit as a game. I'd put it in the middle tier of PCE shooters.

Weird my Framemeister remembers the settings and profiles just fine. I turn the whole retro setup off when it's not in use. You can cook eggs on Commodore power supplies when they're plugged in. I doubt 30 year old power supplies spontaneously combust, but I'm not taking chances.

I don't have super hot PCE games, so I would have looked at the price and been like "Meh, I'll just play something else". I haven't played tons of cheap PCE games, so no need to play the high end hotness. Same thing I do with digital games. No need to buy digital only games when there's so many good physical games that can clog up my shelves after I've played them.

That's a slick haul right there. I'll have an IFU available after the challenge of the month as well as an Everdrive, though Sharif already voiced desires for at least the Everdrive.

Speaking of the IFU, fired it up tonight, fudging drive doesn't spin. It gets the signal from the IFU to boot the CD, only it does nothing other than say "PC". Won't play music CDs on its own either. Talked to the guy who sold it to me who at first made it sound like I was crap out of luck and told me to find someone to repair it, but then agreed to take the drive back in and figure out what's going on, sounds like he's got a tech. I know the drive was working before he sent it, he had pictures up, but he sent it fudging Retail Ground and I know some dicksuck-ass jerk probably played golf with it at some point because the box looked like someone threw a 30 pounder on top of it before it got to me.

So I've gotta pack that up and send it out Monday, hopefully it's an easy quick fix. He said he'd re-cap it too just to be sure but either way, long as it works I'm fine. But this reminds me to pay extra for 1. Priority, and 2. insurance outside eBay. Mind you I didn't get the OPTION, he just sent it out ground retail and had assumed I'd be fine with saving a buck fifty and waiting a week and a half and god knows what else in transit.

Long as he makes it right I'm satisfied. I was planning on re-gifting it to the RTT, hopefully to someone who still needed to finish the challenge and wanted a physical system to do it on.

Check SAG, the Everdrives were on backorder and I just got mine yesterday, if there's any stock left it's probably gonna hit the site soon if it hasn't already or hasn't already all been called for.

Honestly I think CD games generally get less play because of the extra steps. I am much more likely to try a game on my everdrive with a full set of ROMs vs download a 300+mb rom, burn it, and then have it cluttering my crap up. It was on the top 5 shooters to burn and try, but had to fall behind Gate and Lords or thunder, Air Zonk: the crapty edition, Sapphire, and Nexyr all because of their notoriety for various reasons. When I got to a spriggan I realized it should be in the top 3 of the above list for sure.

Dave I just use emuparadise isos and img burn with default settings and verbatim 50 for 8$ shipped cdrs for years and more issues with ports than drives or caps. (Duo-r)

My main problem with XI is that the home port is only on PS2. XIII is fine but I find I never really play it much because I prefer the older ones. That's just an I'm weird type of thing though.

XI is closer to the classic Neo games, XIII plays mostly like it but it has a little bit of weirdness to it.

The latest game (XIV) is very close to the classic Neo games with its own thing going for it. I'm no expert, but I enjoy the series. I've been playing it since very first installment.

Cleanse them with holy fire.

The Mexican restaurant I used to eat at as a kid had a KOF arcade machine. It was one of the early ones, I think '95.

Edit: I think a Tekken cab too but my memory is fuzzy on that, I know it was a 3D fighter that I never wanted to play over KOF.

Oh really? Only if you look up all the secrets online. I doubt anyone would call it easy.

You want a real challenge, beat the game I just beat. I beat it on my first try this year too. It's on a psp mini game compilation called WTF: Work Time Fun. The mini game COULD be beaten in a half hour but I doubt ANYONE here besides me could beat it even once this whole year UNLESS I gave you guys hints as to how to play it and beat it.

It's a mini RPG called "Buddhas Quest" and it has to be opened up in game by buying a trinket from a coin machine (the gold machine I believe I obviously have mine opened and saved still).

You have to defeat 100 Buddha dolls in a row on one life bar. You start off with two healing herbs and a return scroll. Each enemy you defeat may drop one item only. The idea is simple and the game moves quickly but you can be killed at almost any time.

You really want a challenge beat Buddhas Quest instead of some mid level beat em up and then I'll vote for puzzle boy over Lolo because then I'd believe you knew what a real challenge was. Unfortunately now I still gotta beat 4 more games before the end of the month in order to play together. I already beat the hardest one I've ever beaten on my own (again for maybe the 100th time or more) tonight. I'm going to start Sunday trying to beat streets of rage 1, 2 and 3 if I cant finish the first one tonight that is. Tomorrow I might try to spend the day beating Shining Force 1. But I think I can beat these four games with no problems so my bonus game will be fininshing Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest on Gameboy Advance. Since I've never finished it or Streets of Rage 3 before that'll be a kind of cool bonus for me. I've got a lot to do 😉

I wouldn't mind playing Kickle Cubicle honestly because I never had it as a kid and I love Nes games. Gypsy however dislikes Nes for whatever reason. So if it came down to a Puzzle Boy or Kickle Cubicle vote I'd vote Kickle Cubicle for sure ..... unless Gypsy beat Buddhas Quest.

There are a few challenging games in it you should definitely check out.

Space Blaster is actually a cool spaceship shooting game that you only face three bosses in a row to beat that one. Most of the games like the pen game are intentionally repetitive and supposed to feel like little jobs.

Hey btw, did you ever try the Lord of the Rings tactics game for psp? That is such a cool movie based game ..... but it is time consuming and strategy is very important.

I played all 3 of those on a crap 60hz monitor, they all look fine. But I'm not @DefaultGen, I don't think I can distiguish 60 frames from 30 frames per second. Nor have I ever used a 144hz monitor.

If you don't notice slowdown in modern Ys games, then you can basically play anything!

Story time. I won this with an offer of $80 and when I got it, I noticed that the UPC had a Hole punched and it was not mentioned in the listing or shown in the pics. I messaged the buyer and he apologized and offer a $20 partial refund. So basically, NA Aterlier Escha and Logy Plus for $60 shipped

So I saw this video of some guy using a PSP sony dou or whatever it's called (one that fits the PSP) with those little adaptors to put mini cards in to make the card larger. Does anyone do this for their PSP? If so what card do you recommend? Thinking about doing this for PS1 games. That is, if the PSP store is even still open.

The PSP store is not open. You have to download to your PS3 and then transfer to your PSP via a mini-USB cable(PS3 Controller charging cable)

The Duo card adapters lets you use Micro SD cards instead of the proprietary Sony memory cards, yes I have done it before. It works fine.

Why wouldn't you just play on the better and big screen of Vita?

cheaper storage. Anyway since I don't have a PS3, that takes care of that. Thanks for answering! It was only a consideration. I'll stick to my PS1 and LCD screen.

Well you can, but why jump through the extra hoop and get a converter.

And yeah the Duo R is hot. Nice form factor, plays everything you really need to be able to play as-is. IFU is cool in its own way, with the modular look.

What's the best PSP? The PSP go is best for ps1 titles right and has OLED, but is download only? The 2000/3000 is good too but not as good visual fidelity? Assuming we are using the component cables for each.

If you are using component cables it doesn't matter.

If you are using the actual screen, the go has a really nice screen but everything else about it is a piece of crap. Then there is pretty clear delineation 3000 > 2000. 1000 doesn't support component out and has a completely terrible screen. Basically when it comes to the PSP 1000: THROW IT OUT.

PSP in general does not look good all blown up and it gets worse the bigger screen you are using. I'd say 24 inches max. If you don't have good scaling equipment, I'd just emulate it. You have an OOSC though, so you'll be fine.

Not that it matters much any more. But it would have helped during my PSPgo time when I only had 16mb then the 8mb internal storage. I would have put more PS1 RPGs on it. Anyway, that store is closed down and I have a PSOne + LCD screen. If I really want to play them portable I'll just put them them on my ipod touch and then use my dex drive.

If anyone needs a PS2 I have one I am trying to get rid of for shipping cost. I found it doing some cleaning in the last week. I was pretty sure the disc drive didn't work (I had a sticky note on it saying dead laser), but it did read a game when I tried just now. I wouldn't trust it going forward for reading discs, but hey it's basically free and all it takes is a network adapter ($10-ish) and an HDD to play everything.

I can include a composite cable and a power cable but I don't think I have enough extra controllers to spare one.

So the amp I bought had obvious cap damage. Have some issues because of it. The seller is retarded.

Good morning.
Thank you for the contact; I am sorry to hear that you are having some channel issues. The item worked fine when I pulled it out of our system. Shipping this probably contributed to that issue (always a potential concern with older electronic gear).
I purchased this from my local HiFi shop as used. It worked for us (as used). I never opened the case on it (never had a reason too) so I didn't see any of the Cap staining?
You are welcome to contact eBay and refund through the PayPal protection. I stated in my auction that I won't accept returns (not on vintage gear, too many variables and as stated, it worked fine when I shipped it out, and it cost me well over $100 to ship, plus the packing boxes/material so the round trip shipping on this would be well over $200).
They will probably want the amp if they are covering the cost of the item.
Again, I am sorry for the hassle, but it is the one drawback to shipping items of this type.
I believe you will need to file a case with eBay explaining what is happening with the item. They should walk you through that process. I assume you will be refunded through that process/PayPal.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but I haven't had to do this from my end before and the only other issue I've ever had was a book that arrived to the buyer and the shipper had actually ran something through the side of the package and through the book. The buyer was refunded through eBay/ PayPal.
Let me know if you need anything from me to help speed up the process.
Thanks and again, my apologies for the inconvenience,
Rick

No crap they never looked inside, or it would be evident. I guess too dumb to realize the issues. No chance it happened in shipping. Leaky cap crap is dried up on the board. :/

I would have been fine with them covering repair costs, but it doesn't seem that's going to be happening.
