new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Are repair shops licensed? I don't even know where I'd find electronics repair besides like Craigslist. I know the old dude local pinball techs are they are fudgein' expensive.

This guy is. He is still listed on Parasound's site as an up-to-date licensed repair tech. But yeah in general I know what you mean.

The way I saw it, it was barely more than the SNES version and I'll actually play it on PS1. PS1 version in general just seemed better. In browsing eBay, I love how basically no one cares about import PS1. It's like the one console library that hasn't been strip mined out of Japan.

Edit: I'm sure everything was like $5 a few years back though. Barring the REAL ELITE ULTRA RARES like Harmful Park, Groove Jigoku V, Little Ralph, Ore No Ryouri etc...

Oh and some real talk, those 4 games I just rattled off should all be played, just to experience MAXIMUM JAPAN if anything. Totally worth emulating them (because trust me you don't want to buy any of them).

Edit again: I guess Groove Jigoku V isn't all that pricey, just rare. Ore No Ryouri not too bad either.

There's a few titles that break that rule (Harmful Park) but largely yes, PS1 imports are next to nothing.

Harmful Park is listed as a $200 game on Racketboy, meaning it's been expensive since 1991 when those Racketboy collector guides were last updated.

Has anyone ever done one of those mashup threads? The kind where you put 2 completely unrelated games together to make one that just sounds wrong? I was reminded of those when I was on the home page, looking at the listings of hot games. And for the NES, I saw "Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Dr. Mario."

...or is this just be being silly tired?

If you don't buy them, I'm taking them to the grave.

That reminds me, I've got Bomberman complete and Vigilante HuCard only both PCE, $35 shipped.

It's awesome! So you get three games, one you play with Yugi, one with Kaiba and one with Joey. You earn packs by winning games, AND your collection transfers from iteration to iteration, so your Yugi cards go to your Kaiba collection, and both go to Joey. Think of a CCG game but like, without any of the DLC bullcrap. That's the Power of Chaos.

Also, Exodia's not banned, so there's a chance you'll lose as soon as the game starts! :D

Or, even worse, thirteen turns into the game when you're 500LP away from victory! Man, that is a deep, deep feeling you get when that happens. But afaik only Yugi runs Exodia. Their decks change the more cards you win, too.

Also, they dog at you if you use their favorite cards. And when you trash theirs.

Is Sonic Mania CE worth it for the Mega Drive Sonic statue? Also PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch?

the magic games are bad tho. The ones that aren't you can't find anymore, and they don't play on modern PCs.

You mean a game "game" like Duels of the Planeswalkers? Or Magic Online?

Yeah, they don't want you playing a good MTG video game. They want you buying physical cards or cards on mtgo.

The Microprose games are the only MTG games that weren't crap. Magic Online is also crap. It went from okay to craptier.

I remember on one of the tag force games I had a deck that was really good at consistently goldfishing for Exodia. Everything in the deck that wasn't an Exodia piece stalled the game or drew cards.

A couple days back marked the TWO YEAR anniversary of Wall of Roots being bugged.

You can probably put together something very similar on PoC but unlocking cards IS random and you have to actually win. But for a fudge-around single player experience it's not bad at all. If I was on a budget and wanted a CCG experience that wouldn't break the bank, PoC is fairly superior.

But there really is nothing better than finishing up your first turn, passing and Yugi's like AT LAST, ALL THE PIECES HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED. I SUMMON EXOOOOODIAAAAAA.
