new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I still have 17 games left, but that was the last big hurdle. The remaining games are mid-grade or cheaper, with the exception of Nobunaga's Ambition II.

Man, a crapty old strategy game is like $150. That's rough but I guess it's what you sign up for with full sets.

Do a lot of NES collectors just get world class track meet and count it? I'd have to lol.

I think you can mod the 8 bit do stick, but I didn't want to.

This may be a good a time as any to unveil my new fightstick. For the cost of a Virtura Pro Saturn joystick, this is built like a tank and can be played almost anything. All sanwa buttons and Brooks Universal Fight Board. I think the only modification I would do is the gate and possibly put a plexi on it to make it look like a candy cab.

As I said it has a universal Brook board in it so it should play most things. It has a db25 port for Supergun and with an adaptor can do db15 controls (neo geo) and with the USB a interface it can do most modern system.

It probably could do a game if I wanted to, but it's milled steel and weighs like 25 lbs.

It's this, although he is putting a majority of this operations on hold until he comes back fro deployment in Japan. It's basically two of his arcade sticks in one casing.

Thanks, I might just buy a single player version. Any of you arcade stick lovers can you recommend me a good single player one for hooking up to PC (maybe USB i guess?). I don't really need 8 buttons maybe 4-6 buttons + 1p, enter coin etc. .

what is the budget on this? I bought stick a few months back and found it in my research this is a product that you get what you pay for, the hori rap 4 kai was 150, and I really like it, it feels good and hori is about the only thing most serious stick players recommend that's not sanwa. for another 50 I could have went qanba obsidian but wasn't ready to commit 200 at the time not sure I was gonna like it. I was going mostly for fighting games though in my thinking.

My budget is I want it to be heavy duty. I don't want it to slide around as I have it on my computer desk in front of me. So probably something with heavy painted metal, not plastic.

ok, just wondering so might know what to recommend, I shopped them pretty heavy just a few weeks ago, but was mostly looking at stuff like the rap 4, qanba obsidian, dragon etc, mostly plastic casings, I didn't really look at any metal ones. this rap 4 is durable so far, and has pads on the bottom to keep from sliding in your lap or on a desk, and more could always be added.

Holy moly, $200 for an empty single player case for one of those. You could probably buy a bootleg Viewlix cabinet for the price of that two player stick.

That's like saying you can get a Sega Tron for less than a X eye. You could but it's not the same.

And $200 would be the empty stick. With fightsticks it's all about what you put in it, for compatibility and function (and for the looks).

Now that Mad Catz is kaput you can find TE2+ for a $120 very good solid sticks.

Alot of serious players like the te2. I couldn't find them at that price when I was shopping for sticks, but if you can get a good condition one at 120 they are really good.. I don't like the square body's that much though so I'm glad I got the hori with the more comfortable shape to rest the wrist... I might've dealt with it though had I found a good condition one for 120 lol

how about 4 button arcade usb sticks? I don't want an 8 button fighting stick. Too many buttons for the type of arcade games I'll be playing.

You are probably looking at a custom build, case, board , buttons and joystick. You can always disable the bottom 4 buttons on a eight button controller when configuring it.

I like the 4 buttons because I can feel my way around the 4 buttons easier. So yes perhaps I would need a custom job. Know anybody? :)
