new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Dampen a paper towel with lighter fluid and gently rub it over the sticker residue. It's just as effective as Goo Gone and costs a fraction of the price. I guarantee it'll work and will even buy your factory sealed video game from you if it fails to work or harms the cellophane...which it won't. smile

The only thing you really want to watch out for is applying lighter fluid to sticker residue on certain video game labels. Depending on the cartridge, it may eat away at the ink. Older cartridges like Nintendo Entertainment System and earlier Super Nintendo won't give you any trouble; but, later Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 don't seem to fare as well. I believe it's because they don't have as much of a protective gloss on the label. frown

I didn't know this was a thing. I don't remember ever wanting one. Psp is literally one of my favorite all time systems right there with Xbox 360, Nes, Dreamcast, 2600 and yes Jaguar (Jaguar cd). Actually I love a lot of systems who am I kidding?

Maybe I'll get a psp go one day. Do you know if they take the memory sticks too? I have one memory stick filled with psone classics mostly RPGs too.

I grabbed two for $40 each during a B2G1 and by the time it came in the price was changed to $60. Sold the extra for like $55 too.

That's cheap. It's all about $230 SNESs now.

For RTT people only buy the SNES jr or Toploader and get your choice of 2 games in the 'Box-of- double's-that-I-was-going-to-sell-but-am-too-lazy-to-list-it-so-I-was-going-to-trade-it-in-box.'

Some uncommons in that box, will take a picture when I'm at home if serious.

So now that I have the full set, I would like to get a manual only for Suikoden 3. Long shot that anyone has just a loose manual but might as well put it out there. I suppose I'd also just buy another copy of the game given that it's a cheapy now.

Someone at work made this thing and posted it in an internal mailer. If you guys are sick of Hori and Sanwa I can put you in touch.

IIRC the way you can tell IL/Happ ('Amurican) vs Sanwa/Semietsu (Japanese) is that american pushbuttons are concave (has a divot) whereas Japanese are convex ( along with being able to take a beating and better actuators)

of course most of us probably remember the divot buttons of the arcades of old but I really prefer these Japanese buttons like the hori has

Whats with the Day One editions? Is this the retail equivalent of YouTube commentor's 'first!'?? Does it provide any tangible benefits playing it day one?

The threat that if you don't GET it day one, you may be stuck with a NORMAL game, which would be WAY LESS RARE (only probably the opposite)

No no no, see if you don't get the DAY ONE edition, you don't get the rare DLC pamphlet that is going to expire a year or two later.

Sadly, I actually bought Fractured But Whole to play Stick of Truth. Sold it before I started it. But I did beat Stick of Truth!
