new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I rearranged my set ups so now I can play in the living room comfortably on the couch. I want that OG Zelda OOT experience! Lol.

You're prob right, but I got a Everdrive, Controllers ready, just need a reasonably costed RGB modded system.

at least you are doing the everdrive thing, so that is saving money. I'm holding out hope for the N64 classic. And I want to downsize my collection and actually be able to use that $4500 75" TV so I can take advantage of some beautiful new PS4 games!

Let me get back to you on the N64, I'm trying to see if I can catch someone with just the system and can ship that directly to the modder.

$300 for mint. If you got that for under $250 it would be a good deal. A little over $250 is ok. If it goes any higher than $260 you are better of with my beautiful mint copy for $300!!

thanks for the info, that is probably more than I want to spend on it, livingonwheels has a 750 gb modded ps3 that I think will serve my purposes and said if I could win that he'd trade me straight up, so if I get it at a good price Id prob go for it, modded ps3's seem to go for around a couple hundred depending on whats on them firmware wise etc, so I guess i'll see how It goes.

ya I am not versed enough on sega cd to know that game was that high, I can probably get a slim ps3 and a hard drive for under 200 and just mod it myself, its not supposed to be that hard, id just be willing to buy it were I to find one at the right price.

750gb PS3 = 100 max?

Charging for soft modding is like McD's charging for ketchup. Unless its some sort of cool PS3 hardware mod I've never heard of?

its just multiman. so its all soft mod afaik. he did admit if I could get it at a good price, he wasn't insinuating It was worth the full value now that I look back at the offer. I think the problem is you need it to be at 3.55 or lower, and supers were made after that, and then you can cfw all the way up to 4.81 or ive heard they even have the current 4.82 done now, ps3 modders have come a long way. they are on ebay jb'd to 3.55 for about 150, but small HD's :/ could always put in a bigger one though. Im sure I can do it if its just soft modding, youtube probably have 100 how to's on it. but if I could have gotten one at a decent price id have been willing to save the trouble. someone sell me a cheap slim ps3 with a serial under 25xx lol

You know, it's never occurred to me to mod my PS3.

I imagine that would be quite useful. Can you downgrade firmware once you're upgraded? I've assuredly got the latest version installed on my slim.

I'd bet you could get a PS3 slim for $100 or less pretty easily.

Also I definitely didn't mean to insult you or anything. I was laughing at the fact that someone would even float that out there.

the slims can be downgraded from what I can tell as long as the serial is 25xx or smaller, as after that something changed apparently. they've apparently got it spoofed all the way to the current 4.82 so you can supposedly put them on psn, but I don't think id trust my account with that.

ya check em!! evil

ive got a fatty, but its a 60 gig original model, shes still kicking and kinda don't want to alter that one.. I got the super slim to keep the hours off her, and because the HD is so small, hard to believe the pc I had back in 99 with a 20 gig seemed huge (which at the time it was lol) and at the time the 60 gig ps3's seemed big too.

That's the worst part for me. A stack of games on the shelf ain't so bad.

Most of them are out of sight is the thing. I have a few pieces of furniture that are loaded up with consoles in them. Just looking at them you'd never know.

Right now the only vintage consoles I have out are a PS2 and Dreamcast. Having less options right in front of me helps me focus better.

I am trying to downsize so my collection feels less weighty and clunky. And having a large xbox with box when I can play the few most important games on 360 with good enough for me emulation.

The only 2 I would have to sacrifice is sudeki and rallisport 2 (which I do really love) but do I want to keep an xbox just for friggen Rallisport 2? Eh.

Are you typing your messages on a personal computer, preferably running Windows? If so, you really don't need an Xbox in your life. We can find you another rally game. How about that Japanese version of Sega Rally on PS2 cool smile

Well I'm looking at current gen. I have Dirt 4 on the way from BB. I mainly like the rallycross and stadium style tracks. The upcoming game Gravel has my absolute favorite track in that game, which is like a wet muddy track with lots of turns. So those should scratch that itch for me. Now I just need someone to buy my xbox!

Sega Rally Revo on the Xbox 360 (and PS3) could possibly fill the void.

This is what I like. A combination of dirt and tarmac. But I also enjoy those straight long rally races. I just need to have some of these fun rally race tracks in my rally games.

I'm more into the ipod touch + logitech or other similar small snap around controllers for portable emulation. If I'm at home, I want an authentic experience. Which is why I love the SNES, NES, and hopefully N64 classic.
