new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Is it still just @DefaultGen and me for the clears? I know a couple others like @Gredler are fairly far in though.

What do you guys think about Metal Gear Solid?

Like how many people have not beaten it?

I beat it once a long time ago, but kinda want to revisit it.

Raystorm would be convenient since I just got a copy off of Gypsy but I think alot of people might have trouble acquiring it?

Just a reminder, if you want legit Wii shop digital titles, you have until March 26, 2018 to add Wii Points on your account. You can buy points directly from Nintendo.

I just added $50 last week and bought couple PCE CD titles. Thinking abhiut adding another $50-$100.

Man, I need to get on that. Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth (WiiWare) beckons me. But, I just don't like buying video games that're just digital content. It's like a soul without a body. surprise

That Blu-Ray was a bootleg? I thought pirates just limited themselves to piddly little DVD. winking raspberry

I'm down, but it's a pretty lengthy game that I think a lot of us have probably played before. Neutopia hasn't had a ton of clears and that's like half the length. Come up with a big list of potentials and lets have a vote. MGS on GBC? Ohh, or Metal Gear, back on the NES train!

@Noid Pretty easy to make bootleg blurays now. And yeah, look over the listing, it's hilarious. At least they aren't trying to hide it.

The original Metal Gear is an MSX2 game and the NES version is trash. The NES version is so impure I wouldn't even call it Metal Gear and if it is voted as the game anyone that plays the NES version doesn't get to vote the next month.

Fortunately you can play via Subsistence or the Legacy Collection and get a slightly reworked version of the original. No NES trash included. :D

Whoa now, saying computer games are better than console games. That's a bold statement. More than 30 years later, people still really haven't figured that one out.

To be fair, Neutopia is pretty niche. Metal Gear Solid is a cheap $10 PS1 title, and also available on PSN.

It's an old style Zelda game, people just don't know it I guess. I liked it more than Zelda 1....

Also to be fair, Gypsy is biased against Nintendo Entertainment System and loves NEC PC Engine

This almost seems like a parody. Trading cards, selling a physical indie for more than double the price, vinyl soundtrack, and it's called "Super Rare Games".

No. MSX2 version with a few enhancements.

Edit: It's a great way to play the game imo.

Yes. Should be accessible via MGS 3 menu. I would upgrade that to the Legacy Collection on PlayStation 3 if you can though. :)

super cool. i have an msx2 game and didn't even know it, ive got the ps3 hd collection but haven't gotten around to replaying them, its hard to replay something when the backlog is so stacked with things i haven't played. i used to replay FF7 after the new year almost every year but i haven't in recent years. i had more time back then too lol

These tiny publishers probably all existed before. They were just the guys putting out BS games that were never expected to sell very many copies. Now the fact that no one wants to buy these games at these prices is the selling point for how ùb͘er͡ ̀rare͜ they are.

Johnny: "(the Switch, rather than the Sega Saturn) I always felt it was gonna more like the N64...of Nintendo consoles..."
Tyler: "which is full of grabage?"
Johnny: "What's that?"
Tyler: "just full of garbage and no games?"

It's because no one lives in these states. Honestly it's impressive that you got Montana in there.

I have Alaska, same guy, xxslingbladexx or something like that.

everyone needs Wyoming, I think there are like 2 users there lol. need to set them up with some freebies or something lol.

I need (state and active users)
Wyoming - 2
Hawaii - 2
Delaware - 4
Nevada - 11
Mississippi - 5
Nebraska - 10

Wyoming I get like I said, its not very populated and we only have 2 active users there literally.

these stats show why its been hard to get these, very low user base, wouldn't have guessed any of these but Wyoming were that low, except maybe Hawaii.
