new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Billboards suck. Have you seen 94 around Rosemont in Chicago? 25 billboards that are nothing but hair loss regrowth featuring Brian Urlacher and Ryne Sandberg.

In NC, the billboards are mostly there to remind you that Jesus is real, when the next gun show is, and to stop aborting babies. The south is a caricature of itself sometimes.

RAM overclocks are notoriously unstable and yield questionable results. You may get ten-fifteen percent more FPS. You may not. At frames this low (40-60s) you probably wouldn't notice it. And eight gigs isn't necessarily future-proof, but it's certainly plenty for everyday gaming. You'd have to be doing a lot of obnoxious crap at once for 8GB to be ineffective.

I considered RAM overclocks but even using XMPs PCs are much more prone to random game crashes or blue screens when running above original specifications. When stuff goes bad using a known good CPU/GPU OC it's the first thing you roll back because it's more often than not the culprit.

I'd say 8 for now is plenty, and gives you sigh of relief room if/when prices go back down and you wanna get it up to 16 (which is definitely the absolute maximum I'd ever recommend anyone invest in their build)

Anyone on here have a Japanese PSN account?

If so, could you check to see what price Demon's Souls is by logging into that account?

I tried to check the store, but the prices seem wrong, some things showed up as 200 yen, but when I click them it jumps to 3,000. So before I go through the trouble of making a JP PSN and buying JP currency I wanted to see what the real price is. Its only $9.99 US, which I could do, but not paying $30 for it.

Thanks. I was seeing that too, but the theme said same price when I clicked on it. So I was hoping it was just because I wasn't logged in.

Long shot but if anyone has the Axiom Verge Gametrust steelbook, sealed, and wants to trade for it, lemme know. I'm getting seven of the eight books I'm missing thanks to a friend who I won't mention yet, but I'm only missing that one.

I refuse to pay twenty bucks or more for something that cost them two dollars at most. :P

I got Rogue Legacy steelbook on PC for $7. Probably the only time in the past five years I've been happy handing someone at Gamestop my money. Mostly because it was understood that even though the case was open the game was still "new". It was also their "last copy left". Only this time, it really was.

Speaking of happily handing GameStop my money, today was their nebulous Pro Day Sale and, on top of that, they brought back their promotion where four of their used video games priced at $4.99, when purchased together, come to a grand total of $10.00 before applicable sales tax. I'm very excited to add these four Sega titles to my collection:

positive Binary Domain (Xbox 360)
positive Golden Axe: Beast Rider (Xbox 360)
positive Universe at War: Earth Assault (Xbox 360)
positive Vanquish (Xbox 360)

Have any of y'all tried out any of these? If so, what do y'all think? I mean, they're Sega, so they can't be all bad...right? surprise

I only wanted the two games I was interested in - Guacamelee and Stories the Path of Destinies... I know, I'm predictable - but these popped up for cheap so I figured, why not. I still have to pay for 'em first but that won't take me so long.

The problem with Axiom Verge is that all copies came with a batch of bad Steam CD keys, so Gamestop pulled them from stores. So the only sealed copies available are being hoarded by scalpers. :(
