new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

You have to be fast on coupon days. If you don't have the FOMO you won't overspend enough. You weren't really going to play N64 anyway. How's Galactic Attack coming?

I was a little bummed with some of the missing characters or some of the casting choices, but the guy playing GTO definitely captured his swagger. SO many good shows though, almost forgot about My Boss, My Hero and Nodame Cantabile (Japanese version)..

Stop what you are doing and watch the NC live action, the cast was platinum on this show. Was a bummer when it ended!

Nice prices! Neo Geo cd 😊

And I'm surprised you still have the retron 5. I thought you posted it for a great price last time too. I already have one otherwise I'd buy yours.

I sent an offer of $600 to a seller, his original price was $650. He declined and then took it off the market, relisted it at $700

I bought from another seller at full price of $645 shipped. So 20% makes it $545 shipped.

Plain old SNES Harvest Moon cart only. Two of my good friends had SNES Harvest Moon growing up and I played the N64 game to death. The idea of it being this uncommon, expensive game is ridiculous to me so I never bought a cart for myself until now. Kind of the same thing with Chrono Trigger. I finally bought an SNES copy when 10% Ebay bucks hit. I've always avoided it because it's so "overpriced" for how common it is, even if it's one of my favorite RPGs.

One game for $645? Jeebus. Not many games in that range. The PDSs sold pretty quickly once the coupon hit. You've already had a Keio pretty recently (although knowing you, you might just have bought Keio again). Flintstones 2?

Multiple PDSs sold? I grabbed the $639.99 one. Good 1st guess DG

Yeah I saw some people complain that the PDS on their watch list sold while they pondered grin

Yeah this to me is a sad as fudge comment of all our economic progress under the orange clown.

Nonetheless I hope you get some great scores sir, but having another large store chain shut down feels like I'm actually losing someone in my life. Especially toys r us. It's hard to explain but I do actually have pain in my stomach just thinking about them going out of business.

I'm probably just too sensitive.

I wasn't impressed when Borders closed awhile back. It was handled by a professional liquidation company and they jacked up everything to MSRP before taking percentages off.

I can't compete with pro resellers. Anything amazing will be gone before I waltz in.

Anyone remember Toys R Us take-a-paper-slip-from-our-massive-wall-and-we-will-get-you-a-physical-copy-from-the-back?

I was in Junior High in Brooklyn, I'd walk to school in the morning and use my 3-trip school subway card and go to a Toys R Us like 10 stops away. Bought some new Genesis games this way back in the day.

Good times.

Some people put those paper slip holders up in their game rooms. I think that's super cool, although I was more of a Blockbuster kid.

The wall was my favorite part.

If they do liquidate I'm sure most will be gone at 20% off or less so no different than best buy. Will be good for systems and other toys however.

I use to stop by 6 different blockbuster stores each week looking for sweet deals. Once ps2 came out they stopped having awesome used prices. Before that I could get 1 month old games dirt cheap. After ps2 they were like $45+ and took forever to drop in price.

Yeah its sad, but its really the big smile's fault (Bezos) . Unfair labor, crapting on suppliers, tax evasion.

I'm not there to get any of the vidia games but maybe some fixtures.
