Yeah! Forget all about those! Both F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and F-Zero: GP Legend were quite good. Konami Krazy Racers was fun as well.

I'll post a list in tiers of (obviously subjective) quality of ones that I've played that you might enjoy as well:

Great tier:

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - Vita
Wipeout 2048 - Vita
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Vita

Good tier:

ModNation Racers: Road Trip - Vita (though I'm in the minority here, but I loved the racing and adored the creation of tracks, cars, and mods)
Banjo Pilot - GBA

Okay tier:

Pac-Man: World Rally - PSP
MySims Racing - DS
ATV Wild Ride 3D - 3DS eShop (Made by the studio behind Mutant Mudds)

GBA has too many fakes now, so not that for me.

DS has its issues, but I'm most happy with that, the PSP, and the 3DS for collection purposes. Doesn't hurt they have the best handheld libraries by far to me either.
