Along the lines of what SirConnery said, certain things are worth picking up even if they do take a while to sell.
My buddy and I recently came across 100s of lenses used for optics/photonics research. The net retail value is around $65,000 but they don't really move on ebay. Have only one sale (for 7) so far. Even though they won't move fast, you can't say they arent worth holding on to and trying to sell. To sell them at 10% of their value would be amazing.

With regards to looking for random stuff at sales, if something looks strange/new to you, its a good chance its been overlooked by others too. There was a Memoir 44 expansion pack (literally a big foldout map and 12 plastic tanks) I bought for a $1 that sold for $300+ because it was out of print. Another time I got an old ski rack made for VWs for $7. It was in an old cardboard box and didn't look like much of anything but I sold that for $75. These are really great finds if you can keep your eye out for them, niche and for relatively small, specific collector groups,.

You're full of it. As the others have said its about the current market not the skills. I will say this. Being in the same scenario as them for many years, ive learned to take chances on all sorts of antiques, vhs tapes, and random stuff almost everyone overlooks. If you want to talk about skill with that stuff im sure i have you beat.

Of course, but as a youngster, this part of gametz was like the playboy magazine you would hide under your bed.

Yeah, I'm definitely not knocking the match system. Just thought this might be a unique way to engage users to look at their matches and do so rather easily.

The other day I had a funny idea for a GTZ App or perhaps an addition to the existing mobile app. The app would present you with potential matches based on your My Matches, the distinction being that it is game to game rather than these games and these games. You could say yes or no if you would be interested in that match, and if two users matched, they could then move on to actual trade discussions. This would make a big difference in a couple ways, helping users sort through their My Matches list which can be quite big. It would also make looking at a trade with one user, where both users have multiple overlapping Wants/Availables, much easier as it game to game. I know this might not even be possible but thought it was a neat idea and could maybe be done with a simple randomized generator?

This is a really cool idea. I was thinking of something similar a while ago... if everyone agreed to sell their expensive NES and SNES games cheaper the whole market could deflate.

Anyway, I agree. Look for games he might not know value on, are worth more sealed, boxed, etc and just throw him some prices.

Over the last few years I've been picking up a lot of B-movies, especially in the horror and sci-fi genres. A lot of them don't have DVD releases, as you said. Recently I picked up half a dozen amateur made horror films, and a couple of them are out of Syracuse, NY. I'd like to sell these to a collector, but also be able to digitally preserve them since they are so obscure.

That industry puzzle looks like a blast. I just spent the week working on the one:

Pomegranate makes some great puzzles. I am also really into Springbok, especially some of the 70s ones that feature modern art.
