so in some circles its an unpopular opinion to love naruto, which I do. I know its seen as a causal shonen that overstayed its welcome, but I love it, to the point of a few teary and heavy moments leading up to and at its end. I recently finished the last and episode 500. boruto hadn't interested me really, but in the final few eps of the series seeing everyone grown up and looking badass kinda made me want to watch to see the naruto/shippuden cast more than I was interested in the new characters, as they would now be the sick jonin characters like kakashi, asuma, kurenai, jaraiya, guy etc were in the last two series. id have been happy with the end of shippuden, I was pretty happy with the way it ended up, though I wished sasuke would have attended the wedding, instead of the messenger hawk perhaps as sakura was looking down it would have cut to her hand with sasuke's grabbing it, and maybe saying something like i'll have to go again soon, but im here now...but I suppose that was more inline with where things were, and it lets you know things worked out.
I knew they would write in reasons why the new cast would be the heroes to keep the old from overshadowing it, but so far as of the end of the first arc im disappointed with how little we have seen of (some of) them. im pretty attached to that group lol. I know the first arc is mostly to get us introduced to the new group though. the new cast hasnt really endeared themselves to me yet, but im sure some of them will. narutos generation was just so prolific I think its gonna be hard. judging by the first scene of the series they appear to have an idea of where its going at least.
im only past the "ghost" arc, so its def too early to judge the series as a whole for me after just the introduction arc. I also didn't realize noriyuki abe was directing this, which is pretty cool, as I liked most of bleach as well, and apparently there is talk of maybe bringing bleach back when boruto ends, as they wouldn't do it without him.
I expected more hybrid abililtes besides just boruto, like so far at least Ino and Sai's son doesn't appear to use any of her abilities, but these kids are pre genin after all. it seems they are already prepping the next lineage of the sannin (biological and student linage) to partner up with boruto/sarada/mitsuki, all being the children of or trained by someone who was trained by them, which could be interesting, and ill be really surprised of konohamuru isn't their squad leader. but they introduce a totally different character or bring another older character back in that role. I think shino would better with just some shades, the visor is a little weird, but maybe they didn't want to make him seem too much like ebisu. they seem to be trying to set up to show that this isn't going to be a complete and total recycle with new skins on the characters.
I don't see this series sticking around for 800 episodes though like naruto/shippuden did, unless it just gets crazy popular, but I don't see it, its lacking a little of the magic the previous had so far.
