| How is the GameTZ User of the Month selected?
Nominations - Toward the end of each month, a General forum topic is created in order to solicit nominations for the GameTZ User of the Month award. Any user can nominate any fellow user by posting a brief description of why they feel their nominee is worthy of the honor. Each user is allowed to nominate up to three other users each month including people they have previously nominated. Nominees who have won the award within the past six months or are members of the GUM Committee are not eligible for the GUM award. Additionally, you cannot nominate someone who has already nominated you for the current month.
Judging - After nominations are closed, all the users with two or more nominations become finalists. The winner for the month is then chosen from among the finalists by the GUM Committee. This committee consists of the previous six months' winners and six volunteers. Volunteer members are chosen at random from a volunteer list and sit for six months with half the members changing every three months. Committee members will vote based on quality and quantity of nominations, as well as personal experience and reputation. Each committee member votes for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. A first place vote is worth 5 points, a second is worth 3 points, and a third is worth 1 point. Once all the votes are in, the points are tallied and a winner declared!
Winner - The winner is announced at the beginning of each month in the General forum and in the GameTZ newsletter. The winner also receives the following:
 Five free weeks of GTZ subtime
A spiffy award icon to display during their reign as GTZ User of the Month
A line in the Achievement Log on the GTZ home page
A spot on the GUM Committee for the next six months |
