I feel like I've turned on baseball and heard 30 guys approach to Dr. Dre Keep Their Heads Ringin'. Maybe it's just josh bell's taco music. Man all season I can't lie I felt good but I know I got lucky because it was like every move either turned to gold silver or recyclable metals that could at least be salvaged or traded in and not kill me. But I definitely didn't prep for the playoffs as thoroughly as I ought to have. Aside from Ray I don't have another SP I'm confident will pop me off at least one stud start. Mashahiro I actually trust more than Kerry's cousin Alex cause Tanak's at least built up, Wood's been eh. League Avg on a stud team. Little like holland. Early big time stud, but a drop. After those three the guys are solid or have at least been pretty solid or better but not having Casty for his last start? Fudging bewbs is wrong with me? Check, check. check. Should have paid me off on that hand!
I didn't procure myself a lineup of any depth. I've had 3 games this week where I was like oh I have six batters today, terrific. Could have used a little more foresight for my playoff lineup. Sure any of these dudes could rattle me off 2 solid starts but I don't trust a single one of these muh fudgeers.
@myrixXXX you could set a record. First guy fantasy baseball history to tie his way into the finals two years in a row in.
@Sam Loud Noises! I don't know what we're yelling about!!
@Slim $5 side action on who would have taken the first round between us?
I had way too much fun this season so I can't really pout. Like I get that I talked an abundance of crap this year but with all due respect I think all you bozos would have too if you had enjoyed 21 unadulterated weeks of crushing. I mean I don't even mean it in a cock way, I took 2 loses on the season. In an entire season. So I'm actually not nearly as miserable as I thought I'd be looking at a heafty defeat. I'm miserable because it's not competitive. Like if there's some come from behind big picture magic at work for me then great but I'd love for it to be competitive, to go out like this would just be gross. And I guess a lot of you guys are pulling for that. I'm probably the only one pulling for me to win it all anyway, but I'd like to go down fighting in a vallient effort if it's gonna go that way.
My hitters ain't hitting or in the case of my MVP not even playing and three of my starters got rocked to the tune of 6, 7 and 8 earned runs, and you know what? I'm still having so much fun. I mean I guess I'd rather be compared to the 01 Mariners than the 04 Yanks in the annals of history. There's a little piece of me that's thinking big come from behind win. But like the littlest peice. Most of me is a little ashamed I might actually have to play next week just to finish in the prize money.
@Sam stop beating me over the head with a club you fudging monster!
The score doesn't represent it but at least I'm beginning to bridge the gap and catch up a little. Would still take quite a comeback to turn this into a W but I'm pleased that it's not quite such a blowout.
I know Morton has his faults but I honestly don't know how you guys let me drop him and add him back at my leasuire. I know he's not an ace and he gives up some hits and walks but the dude is good for 8-10 k's a start. Definitely could have helped a short staffed e6.
So long as my guys don't all get rocked and my batters stop sitting out 6 games in a row while NOT on the DL it looks like my matchup with Sam might come down to the wire.
Had to make some horribly tough decisions. But what good are big names on my roster next week when I'm fighting for 3rd place. Go fudge yourself to whoever picks up the guys I had to let go when they invariably stud back up for you.
This is poetic justice. I was the only one having fun all season and you guys had to suffer and now you damn bunch of bums are having all the damn fun and I'm living in horrendousnesssss! A litte part of me is very happy for you guys, just a little bit. ; )
I'm fudgeed. Even if wins and ks were close or Sam was behind he has enough moves left to just take any kind of era and whip hit and push past me. Basically unless I get an offensive explosion that puts me ahead on runs, hr and every other offensive category I'm fudgeed. Going out like this sucks balls and dick.
I know Chris Taylor has been butt the last month, that's why I dropped him. Probably too late. But what business a non playoff team who has no eligibility for the prize money is doing taking him away from a contender still in it is beyond me. I heard that peice of crap emphasize how there was a trophy for last place he didn't want but there's no pentalty, you just get a sticker from espn. I really am glad he won't be back that dude drinks too much and has worse impulse control than I do. Good fudging riddance HAMMER.
Yes hammer one of the two loses I took this season on a 21 week schedule was to you. I don't care that you didn't claim Taylor off waivers. You plucked him off the free agent market and away from the teams remaining in contention for a title. If you're on not in the playoffs I don't believe you should be making roster moves. If there was prize money for 4th and 5th or something I'd say fine but there isn't. Honesty it's just a distasteful scumbag move. But you are and always have been the kind of guy who does something fudgeed up and then tells everyone they're the butt-holes.
I don't even think if I lose this week and I'm battling for 3rd vs. 4th place and playing to either get a slice (the smallest slice) of the prize money versus nothing that me and whoever I play should really be making a lot of moves. It's just a matter of showing respect for the guys still in it. But Even if I was in the finals I wouldn't give those guys a hard time because they're still playing for something. You're season has been over for two weeks. You can finish 5th or 6th. And your battle this week is against a guy who hasn't made a roster move since June, so it's not even about pride.
It's about you acting indignant and being a dick one last time on your way out. Even if you didn't quit you weren't being extended an invitation next year anyway. You're done here. And I'm damn glad about it. Might be the one thing making getting trounced in the first round after a historically dominant season at all palatable.
No matter how it shakes out tomorrow it's been a dream season and a lot of fun. I might wake up and Sam has already stuck the nail in my coffin and I might wake up to my lineup having its first studly day of the playoffs for a come from behind win. I won't hold my breath waiting for the latter.
Dudes that's been an epic battle. Been keeping and eye on it and I can honestly say that you both really left it all out there. Well done boys, well done.
very dissapointed in my team. I honesty don't think even if my tinker game was on point and I made more moves I could have won. I had a shot up until the last few hours to come back and tie but too many of my guys straight up no showed on me. Great season boys. Congrats to slim and Sam on their first championship appearances.
We don't have league prize payouts listed anywhere? I can't find it to verify but I believe it was:
1st: $150 2nd: $50 3rd: $25 And $25 for best record of the first half.
My numbers could be wrong but I think that's what we had, does that sound right?
Only other way I think it could have been was $150, $50, $25 and $25 but that somehow doesn't seem right.
I'm sorry I can't find it right now in our archives. My little sister called earlier tonight to let me know she has to put our family cat she took in after my mom died down because she has kidney failure and I went and said goodbye tonight so I'm a little turned around. I'll look again tomorrow. Maybe I'll get bored after I smoke a bowl and look tonight but I'll look again.
I drafted 6 other espn leagues that weren't money related other than this one and two were point leagues I abandoned because I couldn't compensate for the leaders all stacking SP and being a bajillion points ahead of everyone else. I finished in 5th in those just from checking in once a week and rotating but points is fudging retarded. Unless a home league personalized and customized the points personally and collectively agreed I couldn't see it being as fun as the categories wayyy too much downside.
The other four leagues I'm in finals. And I don't even care. There are literally 70 solid pickups to be made in those 4 leagues and none of it would take place against you rascals. I'm like not even the littlest bit jealous of Sam or Slim. Respect. One of you has to turn out to be Barry Bonds though an epic 3-4 loss. So in honor of Barry and I'll wish to win it all next year instead of just making it all the way to the dance next season.
PS if G hits 62 he is the unequivocal single season Home Run King.
PPS: team names are betances with wolves, eaton puss, bacon n' eggs odorizzi and the last one I think maybe Sam would like: Suzuki Wheels. An obscure Cameron hey ma reference and omage to a top 10 best player I ever saw. The illustrious Ichico, whom I rostered last season on the day he got his 3000th hit. Goes to show you how bad it got for me last season.
Also like to add that while I'm pulling for sam cause I'll be happy for Slim if he takes it down. He, Sam, McClintosh have three years running all proven to be the best. And while I thought some of his trade were a lil crazy dude genuinely put in work this season. Hustled, moved shaked and did work. Sam too but Sam is a maniac and will scoop the randomest dopest dudes out of the doody bin and I'll always root for a maverick.
@Mclintosh I got nothing but love for ya baby. Much respect on a great season as well.
@otherDildos the cartoon face stud prick I always was like a litte ehhhh on but showed me this season he really could be a stud on a hobo team filled stud talent that I announced was playing in that days Nats/Rockies game was Bryce Harper. That's money you ninnies just left on the table for no reason. That's like $10 back on yo $25 yo.
We're gonna be a man down next season which is a bummer. I know there was some speculation earlier in the season that some people might not be back and I hope we won't lose anyone else. I'll always be a litte bit of a hot head and mouthy but I think I'm generally fair and have been generally and mostly fair since we started this thing. I hit a bit of a personal rough patch early part of the summer or late spring and drank a few times. I turned to it and you guys saw some of why I quit in the first place. I'm a mosty really nice person, thoughtful, sometimes sweet but there's like a litte maniac in me whose dying to jump out and booze unlocks the door and hold that mother fudgeer open. I stumbled on my quest for alcohol sobriety and definitely reared its ugly head. I haven't really drank since other than a glass of chocolate desert wine with my girl when we a cook in the last two weeks. So I'm hoping everyone else is gonna stick around for next season. I'd also like to add that it is within the written constitution of this league that a commissioner can be displaced. Under a 2/3 majority vote a commissioner can be impeached, removed and replaced. As ugly of a pill as that would be to swallow if that's something you guys wanted to do; relegating me to just a regular participant that's on the table too.
Having said that, I kind of feel like this was a banner year. I know one division was stronger than the other but the competition was pretty ferocious. Out side of our resident Auto-Bot everyone was extremely active, nobody slept or phoned it in. I don't know what happened to Siemen. His account isn't active on here. He only went MIA right before the playoff push. He usually doesn't make a lot of moves and is also in the class I mentioned earlier for consistent excellence. Hope he's alright whatever happened. Rune and my man nadz were ravaged early and often but still clawed and gave everyone hell along the way, Dustin showed us that moxy and gumption still exist in the modern era. Clear Sights is our resident donkey now 3 years running and I don't think hammers heart was in it anymore. After last season I remember he was on the fence about coming back and he had won. I'm not saying I didn't make a few mistakes but I'd stand by saying it was a banner year. Best one yet. This is defintely the best fantasy baseball game trading combination platter league, no bones about it.
Who do y'all got in the finals? I want to move the topic back to general. But I'm not sure how to do that. After our Championship is over next weekend I'd like to temporarily convert the topic to MLB Playoff Discussion or something of that ilk since we always get some good MLB chit chat at playoff time, should see some heavy traffic and in a new tradition will allow the Champion to bask in his glory for a full month before the season is actually over and his supreme reign begin.
On a league business note. We should discuss the matter of a silly and harmless penalty for last place beginning next year. Nothing major. But no league is complete without one. It could be as simple a one day or one week user name change to "LastPlace" or on the less than harmless side "Dildo". I'm just splitballing here but I think it might at least incentivize the avoidance of finishing in last place. But more than anything I think it's purpose is supposed to be fun, something we'll all get a chuckle out of but otherwise innocuous.
think I'd finish first if we ran a horrible anticlimactic rotisserie league
Now that I actually have a chance on offense I'll admit that 3rd place after a medioric rise and eventually first round knockout would be infinitely less depressing than an atrocious back to back loss 4th place flounder.
PLAYOFF SEEDING AND TIE-BREAKERS (ESPN Custom & LM Leagues) When your league converts into playoff mode the system automatically generates a seed for each team in the league based on the regular season results. The seeds determine where the system places each team in the playoffs. The primary factors which determine seeds are:
1. Division Winner(s) 2. Winning Percentage
In the event that two or more teams have the same winning percentage at the conclusion of the Regular Season, and have played the same number of Head-to-Head games between them, the following tie-breaking system determines the seed: 1 - Overall record * 2 - Head-to-head record 3 - Overall points (H2H Points League only) 4 - Division record 5 - Overall points-against (H2H Points League only) 6 - Coin Flip
* NOTE: Overall record is based on winning percentage. Therefore, a team that has more losses than another team might have the same winning percentage.
In the event that two or more teams have the same winning percentage at the conclusion of the Regular Season, and have not played the same number of Head-to-Head games between them, the following tie-breaking system determines seed: 1 - Overall record 2 - Overall points (H2H Points League only) 3 - Division record 4 - Overall points-against (H2H Points League only) 5 - Coin Flip
I don't know if the playoff tie breaker on a series is the same as a tie breaker for seeding into the playoffs. However it's run it's an ESPN thing and out of our hands but I could have sworn it was head to head record that decided a tied playoff series. Let's just hope there's a definitive score at the end of this week.
Well I have extra motivation. I have to pay all the prize money out. Me taking 3rd is $25 less I have to dole out in cash. Not to mention while you had a nice, strong season you didn't have a historical season where you only took 2 loses on the regular season. I'm not trying to talk crap but I have more face to save. Blowing the league away all year and finishing 4th outside the prize money and taking back to back loses in the playoffs is far more disappointing than just having a good season and not making it. I'm not stressed by it. I've check my roster and the scores less this week then I have all season. At this point its just about pride.
I still can't find the OP where the prize money is designated. It's either 150/50 or 125/75 for first and second. I know our first half and 3rd place was $25 leaving an even $200 to be allocated to first and second. My PC is on the fritz so I can't look beyond the mobile site on my phone.
congrats to sam on winning, congrats to slim on beating my ass then getting 2nd. congrats to prime on experiencing an even more hollow regular season than the one I experienced last year. congrats to everyone else on at least playing basically all year.
I'm relegated to listen on the radio. I left my pops' after the 4th because he had a destiny raid to get to and Verizon won't turn my service back on till tomorrow. If I hadn't deposited all my liquid cash in the bank to pay you maniacs I could have gone up to the bar but I'd rather get you guys paid on time and enjoy the game on my old school radio.
