Prime is trolling but he's actually correct. I've ordered many things from PSA and they've been very quick in my experience. They may be a bit backed up due to their Black Friday sale but I've never had to wait very long.

SirConnery Probably because he ordered it.

michaeld Never ordered a firearm from them, but they usually ship pretty quick. Did you supply them with an FFL to ship the firearm to for the NICS check? If not, they are waiting for that.

I have a good friend of mine who bought his AR through PSA and he loves it. I went with Colt for mine. Performance wise both are top notch but he got a very light weight PSA and it kicks like a mule... Where my Colt barely kicks at all. But other than that no issues.

If your friend has a standard AR that kicks like a mule something is wrong. There should be barely any recoil at all, regardless of how light weight it is. Unless it's chambered in 308 or something odd.

Depends on the type of ammo you are looking for and your local laws. Some places don't allow you to buy bulk ammo online. I'm sure some fool will have a comment about buying bulk ammo, but the probably know nothing about expending 150-200 rounds per trip to the range either.

ARs do have a kick naturally... Been shooting them since I was 12. But with all guns the lighter weight the gun is the more recoil is felt when shooting. That's why my friends kicks hard...light weight. A .22 bas barely no kick, an AR is easily double the recoil of a .22. AR bullets have almost 3x the powder as a .22.

Weight equals less kick in all firearms. I'm a very seasoned vet when it comes to shooting and guns. Have 20 years shooting under the belt so far.

Maybe your terminology is what confused me. When you say "kicks like a mule" it makes me think of a big round that creates actual recoil. A .223 isn't going to do that when compared to other, much larger rounds, regardless of the weight of the gun. Don't forget about the huge recoil spring in there which is taking away most of the impact to begin with. However if you just mean it kicks slightly more than other ARs, then I guess I could agree with that.

No I mean it kicks like a mule when compared to my personal AR which barely kicks at all. Thought I made that comparison in original post but perhaps I did not. Sorry.
Doesn't kick like a 12 gauge but easily kicks 3x harder than my own AR does... Which throws off the accuracy if your not an experienced shooter.

But psa is a very good lower budget build hands down. I enjoy their products.

It's not unusual for there to be much more perceived recoil in a lighter, less expensive build.

Weight is the biggest thing -- a lighter gun will have significantly more perceived recoil. Also, a different/better stock can affect it big time. As can simple quality of parts and engineering. It is totally expected that a Colt will have much less perceived recoil than a cheap build.

My guess is that in his case it's a combination of all of these.

Lmao well I guess so Dustin. To me kicks like a mule simply means it has a hard kick. If we are talking AR's then that means "for an AR"... It kicks like a mule. That statement can and does pertain to every kind of gun. All guns can have a set up that kicks harder than other set ups. Of course some guns kick harder than others but that's not the topic here. We are talking AR's. I have several and have been shooting them for years now. I have one that kicks like a .22... Where as another feels more pronounced. Just varies depending on the parts it has.
Ammo also plays a role in the kick of a gun. More grain in the bullet will make more kick. My 9mm if I shoot 50g ammo it kicks half as hard as if I shoot 115g ammo. Just depends on what you shooting and what ammo you use for it.

I have a 10g shotgun that by rights should kick harder than a 12g because it shoots 3 1/2 shells with more powder. But because of my set up kicks less than a 12g. Just an example.

Didn't think that was to hard to understand but I think there are some gun virgins here.

I take the term to mean it kicks hard. To me, no standard AR regardless of setup kicks hard. However some will kick harder than others, relative to THAT platform. Like HybridCRoW above says an Shield 40 cal "kicks like a mule". I would disagree with that too. Again, I see what you're saying and I understand what you mean. If you're talking platform specific, then I totally agree with you yes

Dustin that's exactly it sir. I agree that a 40 cal doesn't kick that bad either. My 1911 kicks a bit but not bad still.

Now my 7mm Mag has a hell of a kick to it. So does my 444.

The very minimum, adhere to these 4 rules:

Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. Physically check to verify the chamber is empty even without a magazine. Do this for every gun handed to you, even at stores.

Never point the muzzle (business end) at anything you don't want kill or destroy.

Keep your finger off the trigger until you are sure of your target.

Be sure of your target (and everything behind/around it).

ALWAYS assume a firearm is loaded

ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction

ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire

ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use (Concealed Carry and Home Defense [ State Laws Vary ] does not apply)

I rewrote them for you KCPeguins. Bascially the same thing, just different wording with emphasis added.

Yea when I first got my Colt it had one on it too. Drove me nuts seeing a black nub in my scope lol. Took it off and put a low profile block on it myself... Was super easy. Then I put a longer grip on it to cover the new block. Looks great now. I put after market houge pistol grip and a foregrip(which I love)and I have a 300 yard scope on it as well.

AR's are very fun guns to shoot.
