I bought a Google Home yesterday but I am not sure if I want to keep it or go with an Echo..... Google and Amazon are in one hell of a fight right now and both have advantages. I have Prime so the Amazon music is a nice bonus that I may end up dropping Spotify for... but as of right now Google Home does not support Amazon music. The Echo does (obviously) but does not support chromecast and I believe for now no Youtube support as Google pulled it.

What would you do? do you have a Echo or Home? what are your thoughts on the product?

I invested in home as I'm a YouTube red subscriber, which comes with play music and YouTube music. So far I've got a couple of chrome casts, some smart bulbs, and a smart power strip. I really like the whole setup so far.

I use Amazon Echo to control my smart home. You could sync your phone to echo and play audio from YouTube through Bluetooth.

I can only speak to the Amazon side. I've got an Echo and an Echo Dot. They're great.

I have both. I like the Echo better for one reason, but I'm thinking it might be my Google Home unit - The Echo hears WAYYYYY better. From other rooms it can hear it's name. Google Home requires me to be about 5 feet away in a quiet room.

Other than that, Google Music wins, Youtube wins, and the search on Google Home wins.

The Echo just works better!!!

Echo is bad at answering "Googly" questions. If you asked Google what was that movie with the 2 magicians, it will say The Prestige, Alexa won't know how to answer the question. I use the Echo for music, news, home automation, and playing Jeopardy every night and it works fine.

I've never had a Google Home, but I love my Amazon Echo. It's great for playing my music (speakers are very good) voice controls are nice. The home we're buying and moving into next month is a smart home so I'm looking forward to using it to control stuff. It's great for ordering on the fly and I often use it for math or measuring questions when my hands are in flour or meat guts.

I started with a Google Home because I'm invested more with Google; however, after a few days it was really having trouble hearing me. I read online that there was an issue when it first came out, but they had fixed it. Unfortunately mine was a new model and still had the issue. You could play back the recordings and it would be static sounding. You literally had to be near it for it to hear you. At the time you also couldn't hook up your devices to it through Bluetooth, but I've heard they finally fixed that. I returned it and got an Echo Tap which I love to death and am slowly getting my house to be a smart home.

The one benefit of the Google device is that it can understand multiple commands. I heard they just released an update where you can say google turn off the living room and dining room lights. Basically joining two things together which is freaking cool. At the end, whichever area you're more invested in, I think you'll want to be. The Prime Music with Alexa isn't that good IMO and they try to get you to subscribe to their paid service which offers more of a selection. So if you have spotify, you'll want to keep it.

You're in Canada right? Just use a flashlight with rainbow overlay to shine a signal in the sky. Justin Trudeau will show up with answers to life's great questions.
