IIRC there was a thread awhile ago about these mattresses. It's almost time for me to get a new mattress and I was wondering how these were holding up. I need something on the softer side and that isn't too warm since I turn into a furnace when I go to sleep.

Yeah, that was me. We're still loving our Purple. Has maintained perfectly.

We tried out some in store stuff, Caspter and Ghost as well. Purple ultimately won. Although, I heard this new Bear mattress is supposed to be pretty decent too.

We are about 25 days in on our Casper. So far so good, but we will be re-evaluating closer to the 100 days (like many others, they offer free returns).

Set-up was extremely simple and took maybe 15 mins

We have the following setup:
King mattress
Box Spring
King frame

We're happy with our Ghostbed. I especially love the Ghostbed pillows!

That being said, I think the perfect combination might be a Purple bed with the Ghostbed pillows... But, again, we're quite happy with our Ghostbed. yes

I second Purple. I've had mine for almost a year now (I think) and have no regrets. I get hot easily and never got hot with Purple...best part is sleeping on Purple has completely gotten rid of my (used to be) frequent back pain and pulled back/neck muscles that used to happen every few months.

I can attest that the Purple Pillow though, it utter crap. Avoid that garbage.

As far as how Purple stacks up to Ghotbed et al, basically they work in a similar manner, but have a different way of doing it that may affect your preference. So, if you've ever used a memory foam bed even for a few minutes in a store, you'll notice the foam conforms to your body and leaves a hole int he shape of you in the foam that will slowly reform back to flat. Purple is a rubber or sorts that essentially does the same thing except that it immediately reforms to flat when you roll, move or get off... so there's no return time in it for those of us who will change positions throughout the night no matter what we're sleeping on (like me). It just comes down to preference.

@ENIX , I hated the Purple pillow at first, but after giving it some time, I actually really like it. Definitely an acquired taste.

As far as the mattress, we didn't think it was thick enough so we got this which truly helped: http://amzn.com/B01HIR5H9Q

I guess if you don't mind a 20lb pillow that you can't move and is too high, then I guess that's preference. Personally, I like to put my pillow over my head whenever I roll over to the face-down position and a heavy ass pillow makes that impossible when I'm dead asleep. I also expected the pillow to be thinner; maybe half the current thickness...that and the pillowcase is way too fudging big for the pillow.

Yeah I think I'll try the Purple. I do shift positions multiple times throughout the night so a mattress that immediately reforms sounds nice. I probably won't get the pillow. I like my pillows on the smaller side. Big pillows feel like they are suffocating me when I sleep on my stomach.

Note that the Ghost also immediately reforms. It isn't like there is a big dent there for any extended period.

I haven't tried a Purple to see if it is any different, but the Ghost seems quick/responsive to me too.

Got ya. Yeah, for me, I'm not sure the difference there would matter much. I mean, I roll over during the night and by the time I've rolled, the Ghost has already come back up.

Might make a difference during sex, I guess. But I don't see it mattering much (for me -- as the guy said, this is clearly just a personal preference thing) when sleeping/rolling.

Depends on if you want to sink into your bed or if you want to sleep on top of it, really. Purple feels like a standard mattress.

Hmmm... I guess I don't see it that way. Both of those videos seem to show the person "sinking in" about the same.

The difference had to do with responsiveness, not depth.

*shrug*

EDIT: Yeah, he calls that "cushioning depth" in the videos and they seem pretty similar to me. He even flat-out says that he'd call the Purple cushioning depth a "medium."

But, again, I think this all varies a lot by person. I'm just pointing out that I don't think the Ghost is significantly more "sinking in" than the Purple. That's what I like about the Ghost -- I'm not sinking in like an old style memory foam.

EDIT 2: And he even mentions, in the cushioning depth section, that he wouldn't put it at all in the same category as an inner-spring when it comes to that. So, it is odd that you list those videos as good sources -- but then say something quite a bit different from what he is saying.

You'd have to have a Purple to understand then. Basically the purple crap supports the lighter parts of your body while the heavier remainder sink into the 2-inch rubber stuff and sit on top of a firm foam brick.

We can bicker about it all day and not agree. Best thing is to recommend the 100 day trial for both and send back the one you don't like.

1. I didn't know we were bickering.

2. Of course we might not agree -- because, as I said (and the guy said in your videos repeatedly), a LOT of it is about personal preference.

In any case, I'm done here. I was just sharing some info about the bed that I have. No biggie.

I got a cheaper knockoff brand of mattress off of amazon for around 400 dollars (Brentwood Home 13 inch) and it is super great. My girlfriend though it was too firm but I absolutely love it. We got a 2 inch memory foam topper to soften it up a bit and we both sleep like babies now

I didn't mean it in that way. Maybe debate was more appropriate.
