Ok, so we got a bunch of decorative plates today via a donation, we got looking at the values of some and WOW! It's a complete set with all papers.

from the Bradbury exchange, "Beauties of the Red Mansion". On kijijii one guy is asking 1k for one plate, Ebay had a complete auction for $750 a while ago. I don't know what to do to get rid of them knowing there is some value. I can't stand ebay and the people in this town are not exactly the type to buy these items... Any ideas?

maybe there are some specialty groups out there that have a website with a sales forum? you might be able to deal with better informed customers on something like that and they will have a better idea what they are buying and you wouldn't have to mess with ebay

I am looking, no luck right now...

Sucks not living in a city and so far from one.... then again we would not get this type of donation if we did so. Living in a oil town does have perks.

You can try facebook groups, but you're right the odd of finding the right buyer with a limited market would be rare. I'd just list them on eBay as a single lot and be done with it. Obviously you're researched which ones actually sell so make sure to include those names in the title. Not sure what exactly you have but even the prices on the "Beauties of the Red Mansion" plates are all over the place. They seem to sell better in complete lots with the boxes and papers. It looks like there is a lot of 12 in that collection. The listing that went for $700 had 25 plates total including those 12 plus some others.

oh well crap, did not see that! lol I know nothing about this type of thing. I had the ladies look yesterday... I will check facebook though would like to get all the money I can squeeze from these things as we are a non profit and sales have been lackluster for 6 months... the Oil drop hit this place hard and most of our regulars moved away and people are more about selling there good stuff on local swap sites. You should see the stuff we get when the economy is booming lol... it's crazy!

Yeah, singles of the plates look to only be $5 - $20. Plus then you have to deal with individual shipping. I'd still go with a single auction. It's just not going to be worth your time otherwise.
