Right now we have the ppv prediction threads and the thread for the fantasy league but I figure we could use a thread for all wrestling discussion like we have with football and basketball, that way people can use it all year round.
Also, I had something I wanted to advocate. I don't watch wwe these days, more into other wrestling promotions, but I do skim results and check out highlights of stuff I hear is really good. And this is REALLY good. From raw last night, one of those cena firey shoot-ish promos I love and it's directed at none other than Roman Reigns. Enjoy.
yep sure, all things wrestling are welcome. I wish I did this sooner, had so much to see about the g1 in new japan.
i haven't played a wwe 2k game since they got rid of the showcase modes but i'm definetly impressed every year at how good it looks are how loaded the rosters are. Heard about some of the nxt additions and it's very cool to see guys like roderick strong in a wwe game.
Random thought but I just watched the match recently...
Out of all Undertaker Mania matches, he's had plenty of great ones. It's fine to never talk about his crappy WM matches, like vs. Big Show/A-Train or vs. Big Boss Man, but there's one of his great matches that I feel never gets talked about. Undertaker vs. Ric Flair, WrestleMania X8. This match had so much emotion heading into it, with Taker at the height of his "Big Red" heel persona, taking out Flair's kid and forcing the Nature Boy to step down as "co-chairman" in order to return to active competition. The match itself was super memorable. Flair was busted open through more than half of it, and even Taker shed some blood. One of the most triumphant moments in WWE history happen in this match too, in my opinion. While it didn't lead to a Flair victory, Arn Anderson's run-in Spinebuster on Taker to help out his brutally beaten fellow Horeseman was incredible. Not only for the pop it got, but just to see Arn get a WrestleMania moment in a big "save" was real satisfying. It was out of nowhere and so effortlessly pulled off. Anderson is an unsung hero.
Anyhow, just had to share that. Been revisiting matches that I love on the Network and that's a match that I constantly have an urge to watch for that Anderson run-in.

I've been doing that too. Last night I watched ECW One Night Stand 2005. I was really just in the mood to watch Mike Awesome vs Masato Tanaka (a match I go back and watch at least once a year) but that's just one of those rare events for me where every match on the card was great and I can watch it and not skip through anything so I wound up watching the whole show.
So I watched 'rassling practically since birth up until 2012. It got extremely boring and I felt like I was only watching out of habit by that point. Then they brought back Brock Lesnar and having him lose to John Cena in his first match back was the last straw for me, so I decided to stop watching it (in 2013 I started going to local indie shows around here but it only lasted around 6 or 7 months before I got bored of that, too). I'd hear about awesome CM Punk promos, so I'd just watch them YouTube and I'd still keep up with what was going on once in a while via WWE Classics On Demand (before the WWE Network came along). For a little while I started getting back into watching weekly, but they weren't keeping my interest so I stopped watching again. Now I started once again, and the first thing I noticed is they seem to have killed off Titantron videos. Instead of playing video clips of the wrestler Superstars, it seems to just play animated gifs ("I am phenomenal" for AJ Styles for example). How long has that been going on?
What's a nice place like this doing around people like us?
Flair and Taker was awesome. That superplex was probably the second best part of the match besides the Arn run in. This was second best match of the show besides Rock and Hogan and it's not even close.
It does kind of get buried though and I don't know why, besides WWE doesn't really acknowledge biker Taker much in their history.
If he was he's even more the man. That moment ruled.
I've been listening to a bunch of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard and What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone. Great podcasts hosted by Conrad Thompson. Funny stuff, and gives great insight to some wrestlers and shows. The topics are decided by fan poll.
Lately, if they announce an episode is about a particular show, I'll go back and watch the show before listening to the podcast. This monday, Conrad and Schiavone are covering "War Games 2000" which was a "Nitro-PPV," or a big event on Nitro. I'm watching it right now, and holy crap this stuff was bad. A super long half hour-long segment featuring Russo, Nash, Sting & Goldberg with the "Ready 2 Rumble" Triple Cage lowered. Apparently the War Games match is in this cage during this episode, and from this segment, it looks like it's going to be a crap show.
Regardless, it's real fun to revisit (or visit for the first time) some of these old shows to get the insider scoops after. But usually in Tony Schiavone shows, they just crap on each WCW show they watch. Real funny. It's understandable because it was apparently the worst working environment ever.
Fudging Jeff Jarrett. A guy who didn't go quite far enough in the WWF but was never going to be World Champion. He got way too much in WCW and he never should've been a World Champion there. And he never should've been the focal point in TNA for 4 years.
Allegedly he has some personal issues he's working on now so I hope he gets those addressed but man... how many times can you be in and out of a company you used to own?
I only saw brock/braun but I definetly would call that a massive disappointment. Really thought it'd be a fun big man chaotic match but it was actually pretty boring. Not a fan of brock's no-buildup F5 just suddenly ending the match again.
Looks like Shield will eventually be reforming to take on the Miztourage. They pulled the old "Shield fist taunt" deal after they butchered Reigns, and they don't seem to be starting a tag title program anytime soon. Oughtta be neat seeing Shield back at least. Looks like it could end up with Reigns beating Miz for the IC belt to get gold on all of them, though that seems like an odd spot for the dude who has beat Taker, Lesnar, Cena, etc.
Hope they turn heel honestly. Pull a year-2000 DX and just go on a power trip now that they've all been so successful.
Genuinely creepy Wyatt promo tonight for once. The effect was a little cheesy when it first popped up but with the laughter it was pretty neat and real unsettling. Hoping the Abigail storyline finally pays off. This feud could go a long way in getting these guys closer to that glass ceiling.
Shield is coming back in a refreshingly unshocking manner. For once WWE aren't just feeding us the obvious but trying to pass it off as if nobody realizes what's happening.
No one gives a fudge about Enzo as Cruiserweight champ and even less when the big "new signee"'is just Kalisto in Saiyan armor.
I love Corey Graves calling it how it is. When someone said "he didn't get all of it" Corey explicitly said whoever (Dolph?) didn't get his leg over the neck for the leg drop. He's also calling out the ref for allowing a rope break in a HiaC match.
Oh man, I was waiting for Kevin Owens to do a running senton off the cage onto Shane on the announcer's table. It didn't happen, because it would've been too insane / dangerous, but my mind went there.
>> Pretty much what Shane did to the table, minus the whole running part haha. Not
>> difference between a senton and an elbow drop from 20+ feet up haha. Just a big
>> back bump.
> Except Kevin Owens has about 36 more pounds on Shane, and imagine if Shane actually
> took the bump. Way too dangerous for that to happen, though I wish it did
Haha yah the senton would have been bruuutal. I still give props for Shane bumping off anything high though because it's 110% unnecessary considering the dude is the owner's son and getting up there in middle age. I don't think he has too many of those left in him but he's got some nads.
