So I haven't used B.net in several years. Not since SC2 was still fresh.

I can't remember my password. I can't remember the answer to my 'secret question' and the phone number they have is no longer my number.

The only option I seem to have to recover my account (since I can't find a contact e-mail or phone number or chat line) is to send them a government ID. That seems a little extreme to recover a gaming account.

Anyone else deal with this issue ever?

Seems like you/they answered your question already. Send them the ID. How else are they going to verify that you are you and not an account hijacker?

You should be thanking them for taking security issues seriously and safeguarding your account from those that would steal it out from under you. It's not their fault that you lost not one, not two, but three ways of verifying your identity. The 4th way (the ID) is basically a last resort way of getting back in.

Or, maybe... just maybe, they could do things like most other places and allow for a password reset without needing to jump through hoops. I literally have less trouble recovering password information from my bank, or amazon, or steam, or merrill-lynch. It's moronic for them to ask for my ID.

Yes, but when you do a password reset at those places, how do they do it? They e-mail you or text you. You mentioned your phone number changed, so that's out. Was there not an e-mail based password reset? If not, that does seem odd. I would expect the security question/text message thing to be a back up to e-mail.

The other issue with b-net is if you have their authenticator thing turned on. Like Steam, that's a whole other level of hassle if you do get locked out and have lost or deleted the authenticator app. So watch out for that when you do get back in.

My e-mail is the only thing that has stayed the same. I don't know, I'll get around to finding a phone support number or something. I just wanted to get my free SC2 expansion.
