I can't confirm sent or received or send a message through a trade or through messages.

Server down or something?

I am also getting these off and on just trying to post here in the forums. First post worked fine -- second one giving 500.

EDIT: Note, it turns out that the post actually works -- but then you get the 500.

I had re-tried four times only to discover later that all four posts went through.

I think it happened to me earlier. I did a reload and it was fine.

The server is fine as far as I know. The only change I know of is that auto-ads thing I mentioned in another topic. I'll try to look into it more...

The message goes through, but I can't "receive" or "send" in a trade. The other person was able to though. Is it possibly on my end?

I'll try again in a couple hours.

Retrying it didn't work?

There's an error in the web server log that says, "failed ssl connect". It just started appearing in the log at 11:12am today. I'm unsure what's causing it. I doesn't seem likely the ad change I made would be affecting Jeffro, since I assume he has ads off (and the new code is not on his pages at all).

SSL error means it's likely related to using https, though I can't tell what would cause it to stop working at this point and the error doesn't say much of anything. It's coming out in an odd way that doesn't give me much info about what happened.

I did a restart of the server which may just fix it, but I'll keep looking for clues...

Well, now it's gotten weirder, I paid for a trade to another user and "I Have Sent" worked just fine, went back to other one(that I keep getting errors on) and I still get the same error. I've tried it several times.

It does say "Already Sent" in the "Need to Send" box though. But no checkmark and I get the same error when trying to mark received.

Which trade gives the error? I should try it to see if I get the same error (if so, I may be able to debug it).

...maybe the trade is just in an odd state and I can reset it too.

Thanks. Well, I get the same 500 error when I try to do something with that trade. The "failed ssl connect:" error in the web server log is definitely related (happens at the same time the 500 error happens).

I yanked the new ad code I put in, but it still gives the error. I didn't think it was that, but just had to be sure.

I'm really not sure what's going on here. I'll keep looking into it, probably need to do it tomorrow as well.

Whatever you did, it's showing the checkmark for sent, but I still can't receive and finish the trade.

Yeah, I'm not real worried about it, both parties received what they're owed.

Yeah, it looks like it did part of what I tried to do... then I got the error. I had used moderator tools to edit the trade so that you had sent. That's a clue, I guess.

I wonder how much this is happened for other people too. Do any trades work? You said one of yours did, right? I don't get why this one is special/bad...

I tried upgrading the web server software to latest, but it didn't change the error.

It's got to be something with ssl/https...

I was able to send without an error after this problem trade, the other user in that trade without the error hasn't sent or received yet, so I'll find out later.

Looks like @SMY36738 might be having trouble with another trade with @WithinTemptation

I keep getting 500 error messages when I post in forums, send trade messages, or regular messages. But only once in awhile with forum posts.

Note: it still sends the message, I just get the error and it shows my latest forum post as unread by me when I go back to new forum replies.

I'm seeing the 500 error in other places too. I tried to edit one of my own trades and it happened.

I thought it might be another server associated with the site that uses and ssl connection. So, I restarted that. No change. So, I rebooted the server (desperate shot in the dark, but it may reset whatever the problem is).

eh, probably didn't work as I see another "failed ssl connect" in the log... and another as I typed this.

frown

I'm at a loss and it's a bit late and I'm tired... hope the site isn't too bad tonight, I doubt I can fix it until tomorrow, if then.

Yes, I can't market received. I get the server error. Also get the server error after each trade message. I have ads on and on mobile.

I think I have a fix in for it now.

It seems to be the APNS (Apple Push Notification Service) library that I'm using. It's failing to connect and it brings down the whole web server process when that happens.

I made a change that stops it from taking down the process, so the 500 errors should stop now and the operations will fully complete (instead of partially completing... basically the would do everything up to the APNS bit then stop).

I still need to look into why APNS is failing. Maybe it's because I didn't pay Apple that $99 to stay a developer? Or maybe the library I'm using is just broken today...

Ah, or maybe there's some certification thingy that I need to renew? I seem to recall most of the certs for the app only last a year... I wonder if I need to pay to be a dev to renew them too... hmm....

So, the reason this was intermittent was that it only fired if something you did triggered an apple/ios app notification (either you're using the gtz ios app or the other users involved was).

And, currently, all ios app notification are not working as far as I can tell. I'll look into that more tomorrow. I'll probably just pony up the $99 because black turtleneck sweaters are inevitable.

Whatever you did worked for me. I'm not on Apple anything, must have been the other trader.
