Is it possible to revisit this topic?

Here's the previous one: http://gametz.com/Site_Feedback/disney-infinity-sk...

I just did a search for amiibo, and they are listed for Gamecube, 3DS, Nintendo 64, NES, Switch, Wii U, Wii, and many duplicated under "Other" as well. It's really messy, and kind of clutters up the listings, especially for Wii U, where most of them are linked to.

With Starlink coming out and creating another Toys to Life franchise, it has potential to keep getting messier.

I wonder if moving them all to "Other" is something that can be done? And what can be done about future listings to make sure people continue to post them to "Other"?

With some effort, the current listings could be moved to Other. Maybe, I could do it with some tricky database update (though, that can break things too).
I don't think there's any great way to get people in the future to use Other when they make new listings.

I took a look just at Amiibo listings. I agree it's a bit of a mess. It seems like Wii U is the platform that is mostly being used now. Of the approved names as well as existing listings. Other isn't used that often. I'm unsure if we really decided on Other in the past. It looks more like we decided on Wii-U. But, I can see where that makes less sense now that Switch is out and I assume Amiibos mostly work on Switch too.

These are really odd duck items and hard to know what to do with. I think I had been hoping they'd fade in popularity, but that doesn't seem to be the case. frown

There's something like 2,200 Amiibo listings at the moment. As far as I can tell, it would be a lot of work to try to clean them up. How bad is it the way it is? Is your main gripe that you don't like them and wish they were out of your face (e.g. grouped under Other)?

Actually, if you're interested, I'd consider adding you to the Name Tribunal if you'd like to take this on (and/or other item naming project/work). I was just starting to work on the list you pm'd me and I can see that we've fallen way behind (stuff that had 20+ listings and wasn't approved).

All NT work is tedious and done by volunteers, so yeah. Also, I'm more keenly aware of GTZ being in decline these days and I wonder if others sense it too. So, I'm not sure doing this kind of work is worthwhile. I've tried to consider alternatives, but it's hard to come up with something that's make sense.

I agree with Ben, or maybe a category called interactive figures

Collectible would be a good catch-all for amiibo, skylanders, etc. as well as any other work-related miscellaneous kitsch such as figures, keychains, pins, etc.

I was thinking a "Toys-to-life" category.

category is irrelevant, there is only platform
these things have multiple platforms
It's hopeless
other is fine, but people will keep trying to use whatever Nintendo platform they use it on

Maybe add a new platform "Toys-to-life" and then the "Type" could be "Skylanders", "Infinity 1.0", etc, "Other"
