I need to rebuild the forum archive. I do this once a year to maintain the forum's snappy performance.
This is when I move old topics to the archive so the active set of topics is smaller and thus faster for the database.
I try to start around 9am US/Eastern time. It takes about 45 minutes and it's best to shut the site down until it's done.
If things go well, I think it could be done by 10am, or noon if something goes wrong.
I just did the yearly offer/trade message archiving. That can be done while the site is up. It only takes a minute.
Seems to me that when you did this last year, it took significantly less time than you thought. https://gametz.com/Site_Feedback/gametz-will-littl...
BTW, the pager for Site Feedback only seems to be showing next/previous page, without page numbers for faster skipping. General, for example, gives me numbers to click. Something going on with SF?
I was just kidding.
I was having trouble that day too. I would have to refresh a couple times to get pages to load and this was the only site doing it.
It shows the chain of how your network routes from where you are to where you're going. It's a list of hostnames/IP addresses. If something is wrong and you can't get to a host, it shows you where things are going wrong.
There are probably apps that do a traceroute from a phone.
Switching between LTE and wifi will often change the routing a lot and it's interesting that didn't help. But, sometimes network outages can be region based. I'm no expert.
I agree it's not a big issue and very likely--even if you did more to track it down--I probably couldn't do much to fix it. I wasn't going to post again, but then you guys revived this topic like you cared or something.
