iOS app notifications have not been working for about 27 hours (since yesterday around noon eastern time).

The problem is an internal certification used to verify identities expired. In order to fix it, I had to renew my developer status with Apple. I had let this lapse in March (see ios app expiring topic). So, it's likely the iOS app will be back in the Apple App store again (soon if not already).

The process of doing certifications is kind of complicated and my first attempts to fix it don't seem to have worked. I'll keep working on it. Also, there may be an alternate way to do notifications with a cert that doesn't expire. So, I'm currently looking into that too.

I suspect it may be another day or two before iOS app notification work again.

Thanks for your work on this. yes

Depending on what you are using to work on the app, you could create a Apple Watch app, even just to display notifications. Just to beat all the other gaming sites to the punch. Beside bragging rights I don't think enough of us would use it though. I still don't have a Apple Watch yet myself.

There's no chance I'd do that. I'm already regretting renewing my dev membership. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to get it working again and haven't succeeded yet. All the while, knowing it will just expire again in a year. frown

I've got iOS app notifications working again, yay.

I just recreated the certification to do it and this new cert will expire in a year like the last one did, boo.

I also figured out how to do notifications with a non-expiring key. But, my server has some out-of-date sub-systems on it that cause it not to work. I'm pretty sure if I upgrade the OS I'm using to the next major version, it will work, though. That's not easy at all, but I also have a vague plan to move the site to cheaper hosting eventually and that would likely include an OS upgrade with the move.

I'm also working on upgrading just the out-of-date sub-system manually, but this may be trouble since such things tend to be linked to lots of different stuff.
