Hey mods/bill, I am about to add some new movies to the database with box pics. Is your entire movie collection organized alphabetically? There should be catagories like 4K, 3D, 2K. Perhaps even animation/scifi/horror ext. That way your movie collection is some what sorted.

Also I see the movie data base is pretty lacking in new content. Is it ok if I add the type in front of my movie so I can organize my collection better? IE (4K) Valerian , (3D) Jurassic Park? I thought I'd ask before I started this big venture. Are they simply sorted alphabetically?

Movies have 2 main components, Name and Format. Name is like "Blade Runner" while format is more like DVD, Bluray, or Ultra HD Blu-ray (we just added that one, I believe it is 4k but we're using the brand name).

I don't know about 3D or 2K... not sure how that fits in or how popular those might be.

Yes, our names are definitely lacking when it comes to things that aren't games. We add stuff as people list things, otherwise it would be tons of work for little usage.

Definitely don't add stuff like (3D) or (4K) to the title! That will mess things up. Please just use the movie name. If you want to add stuff like that, maybe add it in the comment. For 4K, maybe you can use Ultra HD Blu-ray is that's correct. If there's some other format that is needed, let me know. I don't think 3D is a format per se, though right?

@bill Yep so it looks like it DOES sort by catagory, which is really cool. At least my 3D bds, 4K, and 2K bds will be separately sorted. I'll be adding all of my movies to the database with box pics. I really love using your site to track my collection!

The only thing I wish is if all of my studio Ghibli blu rays could be sorted next to eachother! frown

The format list is as follows, taken from the Movie Format filters page.

DVD
Blu-ray
VHS
other
HD DVD
Blu-ray 3D
Ultra HD Blu-ray
UltraViolet
iTunes
Disney Digital
Laser Disc
Video CD
Betamax

Bill, Disney Digital was also known as Disney Movies Anywhere, and has recently been shortened to MoviesAnywhere, as non-Disney studios are now participating on that site.

Yes I've been adding my collection so I noticed that, but thanks for posting anyway. I can't sort genres but I don't have a ton of movies. Having 2K, 3D, then 4K separate does make it look a bit nicer though so. yes

I'll change Disney Digital to MoviesAnywhere when I get a chance, thanks.
