I have a small collection of Amiibos, was considering getting rid of them as they do take up some space (especially in the box).

Do any of you collect them? what are your tips to store them? or would you just rather buy the ID stickers that are sold on eBay?

I don't get the point of them for games. I do have Ganondorf and my son has Bowser since we like those characters.

I was collecting them starting with wave 2, but they started releasing too many and they were all way to difficult to get ahold of and it got too time consuming to get ahold of them. One day I looked at my collection and realized I hand spent like $300-400 on little Nintendo figures and decided to stop buying them. I will occasionally pick one up if its on sale for like $2-3 but I'm pretty much done with them.

I got the ones I liked (a handful), and a few more that were cheap. I've rarely scanned any outside of BotW. My favorite ones are the Metroid ones just released and I have no functional use for them. Don't go nuts and they're fine.

I think the Wii Fit Trainer and Silver Mario are the two rarest now or something?

not too sure, I think Nintendo went back and remade pretty much all the hard to find ones but I don't know if they left any out so they remained rare. WFT is probably one they didn't remake and I've not really seen it in forever.

I've mostly just collected the Zelda Amiibos because I love Zelda, and any that offer additional content/functionality that I care about. I don't like that they've been hiding more and more stuff behind Amiibo's over the last year or so though.

Do I pet them? Yes.

I'm down to Toon Link, Cloud and Bayonetta P1. Don't wanna get too nuts with them again. Never even opened the Metroid amiibos.

I got some Zelda and Mario ones. $10 for a high quality little Zelda statue is a deal in my book. I'm really excited for the Mario wedding ones too. It's not something I'm even interested in collecting dozens of. I like individual ones, but when there's 300 of them on a shelf it looks like Ronald McDonald's collection of leftover happy meal toys to me.

I initially grabbed alot of the classic Nintendo franchise characters - Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad, Fox, etc...but then also grabbed Ryu, Sonic, and Pacman. Then I found R.O.B. and the Pikmin dude for cheap...

So yeah, I have too many probably, but nowhere near ALL OF THEM. I think I'll hang onto them for a bit to see if they hold any value...but eventually, I can see myself dumping them.

Looks like SSB Link is going for nearly $40 too.

Basically, anything Zelda seems expensive.

Back when they were still hot, I got $58 for a Link I picked up for $12 at a Disc Replay. Technically I bought it for myself for the gear but obviously once I had it I didn't need it anymore

For Smash Waves 1 & 2, I did Buy 2, Get 1 Free at the local Fred Meyer. For AC line, I did Buy 1, Get 2 Free at Toys R Us. Most everything else was $10.39 (20% off at Best Buy with GCU) or same at Amazon before they stopped offering 20% off amiibos. No Sales Tax in Oregon.

I don't have any amiibos not released in the US (Monster Hunter Stories, BoxBoy, etc.) or the Skylander DK or Bowser.

All of mine are unopened. I bought 200 blank NFC cards off AlipayExpress.com to utilize the functionality instead. They work great.

Well, a few were on clearance or convention prizes, but... we have roughly 50-60 of them, including Wii Fit Trainer because benstylus thought her inclusion in Smash 4 was hilarious. They're all open though because they get used. I don't really care for the amiibo-for-every-major-game kick that Ninty is on now though. :-s

I have a couple (Mario Maker 8-bit Mario, DK, and Toad) but DK was a gift and the other two came with a console/game, respectively. My thinking is that I already spend enough on games, so the spending has to be curbed somewhere. Also, I've just never been a big action figure/toy guy.

I think my problem may be that I have a slight case of nostalgia. I shudder at the thought of paying say, $150 for a copy of EarthBound, but I will pay a little less than 1/10 of that for a Ness figure (especially since pretty much any other piece of EarthBound merchandise, Hobonichi stationery items notwithstanding, is prohibitively expensive). I guess I could eventually have Kirby's Dream Land 3 if I stopped buying everything else HAL makes for a little while, too laughing out loud.

(I have all the HAL character amiibo... yes, even Qbby)

What really sucks is when you look at those, do the math (if you paid the full $15 retail for each one) and think to yourself that you spent the same or more as if you were to have bought a new console plus a few games.

Its what I did and after I calculated the total I had spent on those things I never bought another again. After realizing I could have bought Panzer Dragoon Saga rather than these little plastic statues I was pretty disappointed with my spending choices.

I got lucky with a lot of my amiibos. Two different times, a guy I know locally decided to get rid of a bunch all at once, so I got them for a fraction of the cost. But, I've still paid retail for quite a few...way more money than I care to calculate.

Good news is, many of them are still worth what we paid, and some of them are worth more. Even the ones that dropped in price quickly went back one to some degree.
