I thought it might be a good idea to post a thread like this where we can tackle some games in our backlog or for systems that we aren't spending a lot of time with. Just post a list of systems in your first post and update it throughout the year if you participate. Screenshots are not required but are welcome. It doesn't matter when you started playing. It only matters when you completed it. As it gets closer to the end of the year it will maybe make it a little interesting to see if you can squeeze those last few in. Some of us will have a lot of systems to cover. Maybe try and do a game you have never finished.

I'll give SWS a spin.

I just kept seeing a lot of people online saying that they hoped Medievil would get a remaster and/or sequel because the game was so good back in the day. Playing through it I'm like, WTF?

I don't think it was ever good enough for a remaster.

I still like Sonic Wings (Aero Fighters SNES) on SFC better than Sonic Wings Special but as an arcade port it's very good. Of course, none of these are worth the money they command on the open market, not even $40 for Sonic Wings on SFC, and CERTAINLY not $500 for Aero Fighters.

I never dove too far into SWS but if it's like Aero Fighters you can probably beat it in short order. I recorded my first run through of that game and I'm pretty sure I made it to the last stage on one set of continues. Mind you, that was a LOT of continuing

Did PSX ever have any rail shooters? The only games I'm familiar with on that consoles are RPGs and I'm not about to dive into a 50-60 hour game in the near future outside of Zelda BotW.

I've fallen a bit behind on this. The last few times I sat down to play a game, I just couldn't get into it. I was hoping to at least finish up NSMBW before BotW drops. I'm halfway through World 8, so I'm close, but I did find out recently there's a 9th World, so I'm not as close as I thought. Maybe I can find a couple hours before Friday to knock it out.

I thought I'd knock out the D3 Platinum relatively quickly but once you hit the 500 Bounties part it slows WAY down. Also looks like tracking for trophies is local, so whatever class I didn't hit 70 with, while probably knocked out, doesn't count towards my trophy anyways, same with bounties. I'll have to do 500 and get all classes to 70 and enchant all my slots.

But I've definitely made a lot of progress. Should be wrapping it up soonish.

Could be just my imagination but Switch version seems to run smoother with less hiccups. Other than that, everything else is pretty much the same.
It could be that imaginary feeling because the Switch is new and you want it to perform amazing things smile

I just finished Breath of the Wild for the Switch. It's one of the best games I've ever played. The combat has been tweaked in a positive direction and is very good and fluid. Obviously the whole open world design is top notch and the scenery is gorgeous. The boss fights, while simple, are fun. The world feels alive and every time I play it seems like I see something new happening in that world I haven't seen before. Nintendo has outdone themselves. It's not perfect, but it is very close.

I would triple or quadruple weapon durability, reduce the occurence of rainstorms somewhat, and have a few more areas like Hyrule Castle. It was a total treat to explore. The sound design is excellent. The score is also excellent. I counted 5 noticeable frame drops in the course of an estimated 40 hours of game play. I'm sure it's a YMMV situation depending on what you are doing, but frankly, I can hardly recall playing a game in the last decade that didn't have the frame rates get a littly nutty. This is especially true of the open world type games.

I can't recommend this enough if you have a WiiU or a Switch. 9.9/10

I'm done with BotW on Switch.

I cheated and looked up the last 20 shrine locations lest I burn out systematically combing the landscape listening for beeps (and I still would've missed many hidden behind puzzles and quests). I played about 80 hours. The last game that held my interest so long was probably Diablo II or Morrowind. I almost always move on from games right after finishing the main quest. I never play these ridiculous 50+ hour long games or seek out filler side content, but this was too good. In a decade or two we're going to have a generation of little crapheads who grew up with this amazing game who can't see why anyone likes those crappy old OOT and ALTTP games.

So they kids won't be able to see why anyone likes LA? raspberry

I like every Zelda game except for SS. It's hard for me to argue about which ones are best. The only thing bad I can say about Link's Awakening is that is spawned the awful Legend of Link hack, which is a horrendous NES game that people mistakenly think is any good.

Updated. We are closing in on 100 games. I'll get to work on something this weekend. School, sports, work and the gym are killing me.

@Razeak just a heads up I am Gypsy and changed my name. So you would want to remove Gypsy from the OP.

I finally went back and played through Four Swords Anniversary Edition last night, so that's three down for me. The game is actually more fun than I remember. In particular, I liked the Realm of Memories stages - based on ALTTP, LA and the original LoZ.

yeah, that part always gave me issues because it doesn't take much to lose. Click Clock Woods was always the most difficult for me to 100%, it was way too easy to be missing 1 puzzle piece or 1 note and not know what season you needed to look for it in. Still, that game alternates with Skies of Arcadia as my #1 and #2 favorite of all time.

Streets of Rage it is. I've only ever beaten the second game.
