Well, it's a new year so shall we get into completing some games 'round here? As always, the goal of this challenge is to beat games on as many systems as possible in one calendar year. Nothing new there.
What is however, is that in addition to monitoring the completion of specific systems, I'm going to keep up with the total number of individual games that everyone finishes. As you can see, everyone involved has their very own box which will serve to keep up both their systems and total games beaten. I've put mine in the format that I intend to use, but if everyone could just provide me with a list of their systems I can do the legwork of putting it together on this thread. Hopefully this will make it easier for everyone to keep up with their completions, as I realize not everyone is as anal as I am in monitoring their lists. Also, I've included everyone who was involved last year, but if you don't intend to participate, obviously let me know.
I'd like to give a shout-out to Razeak for coming up with the idea for this competition and I'm honored to carry the torch that he started. Well, that's about all I've got to say here, so let the gaming begin!

Mind if I join? I don't have as many systems as most people, but it might motivate me to use the ones I use less a bit more. I have a PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox 360 (via backwards compatibility on the X1), PS3, and a PS1 classic.
Alright, chums, let's do this. 0/31 platforms, 0 games beaten.

In earnest, I'm currently working on a hardware replay of Final Fantasy V, a first-time completion of WipEout 64, and the Link's Awakening remake for the Switch, which I've beaten multiple times on Game Boy.
> Got ya covered, fella. I didn't realize you don't have a ; I thought I was

Last year there was a rumor that Nintendo was working on 2 new versions of the . One for handheld gamers and one for at home console gamers. About 3 months later the Lite was announced/released. I'm really hoping that the at home version gets announced/released sometime this year.
This is a pretty cool idea, would like to be counted in if possible. Systems:
(and NES classic, not sure if they would count as 2) (also have classic)
(also have the mini/retro console)
(If you're counting game stores separately I have them all... , , Epic, GoG, Twitch, uPlay)
On quick count that's: 5 Nintendo consoles + 2 portables (and possibly 2 more retro consoles) 2 Sega consoles + 1 portable (plus I am in the market for the Genesis retro/mini) 3 Sony consoles (plus the retro/mini) 3 M$ consoles 6 PC gaming stores/platforms.
Some of these will be a challenge for me as I only have like 2-3 games for the N64, GameGear and Dreamcast.
Got in 4-5 hours last night. It's the full JRPG experience. Weird required mini-games (like a crude fighting game), random battles sometimes 3 seconds apart, janky as hell platforming, exposition dumps... Honestly not a big fan of Takahashi but I'm finishing this damn game this time. I also think the "experience" of this game is better than the sum of its parts.
Couple of questions. First what classifies as 'beating' a game, especially as many older consoles don't have the current concept of a full story. So for something like Excitebike on NES, or Street Fighter 2 on SNES - granted maybe they do have a 'full story' that I just don't recall.
Does beating a game again count? Like I know I could knock out What Remains of Edith Finch in like 1 hour if I wanted. But more realistically I'd be looking at beating SMB3 again or something. What about games we've already finished 70% or more in '19/earlier? You said games above, so is the goal to beat as many on 1 platform, or all platforms combined, or the best completion % for a person's given list of consoles? I get this really isn't a 'competition' but I also wasn't sure if I should hunt really hard to even find my and a game for it, vs. just sticking with other consoles/games.
i try to make it something i havent played before just to help with backlog as well, but the rules are pretty loose i think. i count PC as one, whether it be steam, origin or gog etc, its all still on pc.
@Slickriven yeah man, Gypsy and Tony put it perfectly, beating a new game is a recommendation, not a requirement. Completing at least one game for every system is the goal but beating games in general is the spirit of this challenge; that's why I've included a running total games that everyone has beaten. Don't stress it too much, this is meant to be as easy-going as possible.
so yeah still 8. Keep in mind I play RPGs so while 8 might seem small. I have to dedicate a lot of time to it. I'm gonna go out of my way to play some systems that I might not have this year like PS2 and GBA. I have unbeaten RPGs to play on them.
> I'd give this a shot but I only have 4 systems so I feel it would be a bit limited
> lol. I may add another at some point though. Maybe I could try and complete 2 games
> for each :D
ya man work that backlog, thats what its all about
my goal of working through the older games in the fire emblem series ive never finished and the legend of heroes stuff is going to help me knock out several systems i usually struggle with on this. if i can get through some of them before the juggernauts of 2020 start to hit, there are a lot of things coming this year i really want to play
Alright, I've got everybody's system list up. Putting those into chronological order by release date took a dang minute, but I'm glad it's all uniform. Once @razeak sends me his list we'll be able to start calculating the completed systems for real!

i sorted them chronologically by manufacturer thinking that would be easy, sorry it made you have to change it id have done that if id know thats how you preferred it i'll try and remember that next time, thanks for maintaining this!
I'm going to join in. Have a metric ton of stuff on the backurner that I need to get through. My News Years resolution was to go through some of the mountain of media I have acquired but not gotten around to watching/playing. Read every night and when I'm waiting on pickup at the gym and get through 2 books a week. Watch a new movie 5-6 nights a week. Play one game at a time until endgame, or finish a game or two every week. I'll probably be asking for help picking stuff at points.
The two games I've been putting off for too long is Earthbound, Bioshock Infinite and Assassins Creed 3. I'm anticipating Earthbound to be the longest and most challenging/convoluted, so I think I'll go ACIII, Bioshcok Infinite, then Earthbound.
