Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?
I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.
Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.
I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.
I do not remember dying so much in combat. Quite a few one smack down especially if I am missing a part of a heart. Enemies with a fused weapon have way more power than I do with a fused weapon. The Skeletal arm 20 is the most powerful I have come across and it only last a few whacks. Not to mention lightening, Everything off most of the time as it doesn't seem to not rain.
I loved BOTW and am Happy to have more of it, I am not sure about the building aspect. But I will trust Nintey and the process. One puzzle I am sure I didnt complete the way they wanted, after trying many complex ways that should work but Nintendo wont let, I said F it and made a super duper long walkway screw dem wheels and such. LOL
One of the shrines had rails with a ball that had to go down the rails to the next area. I tried building some sort of sled to fuse the ball to, but it kept falling so I...
made a makeshift square around the ball and hung it from one of the rails (almost like a hook) and just watched the ball side all the way down.
It certainly was NOT what the developers had in mind, but I was so giddy that it worked.
Yeah, I did that one the same way, by making a makeshift hook. My favorite shrines to cheese are the ones where you don't even need to use the stuff in the dungeon. There's one where you're supposed to knock a ball into a couple of targets (one for the treasure), but you can just fire bomb arrows at them instead. I struggled with one where I couldn't figure out how to get a minecart to the blessing. Then I noticed I had a rocket shield and just used that to propel myself into the air, and then paraglided to the exit.
Can we just take a second to appreciate how awesome it is that you just noticed you had a ROCKET SHIELD? How awesome is that? A freakin rocket shield. I thought a fortified pumpkin would just make my shield stronger, so I fused one. It made a pumpkin shield. A shield with a pumpkin attached to it. No matter how stupid the contraption, the game allows it. It's amazing what we can do in this game.
Are you really stuck buying all the different climate clothes other than cold (warming effect) pants? That is thousands of rupees. I only have 800 after 20+ hours of play. Is there anything that is safe to sell? Like expensive items that aren't used for anything else?
Just gave this game to my daughter as a high school graduation gift (she graduates tomorrow). Just watching her play right now. Seems pretty cool so far.

So obviously not for everyone, but came across a simple duping glitch while searching for the best ways to get rupees in TotK. This will undoubtedly get patched out, but it takes maybe 15 seconds to duplicate anything that can be attached to an arrow, including diamonds. Do not click If you don't want the temptation.
Please don't judge, at this stage in life I don't have time to grind the small things without sacrificing bigger things. Steps: (last warning)
Pull out a bow, press up on the d-pad equip the item to duplicate. Hit the plus, go to bows, drop the equipped bow. Equip any other bow. Hit the plus button twice super quick unpausing and pausing. Drop your equipped bow. Pick up both bows. If done correctly you will have both bows and 1 extra item. If not the timing on the unpause/pause was probably too slow.
Reports are location might matter, away from towns and npcs.
Amiibo time! I still dont have the paraglider! Hope I didnt fall off the islands to quickly LOL. I was in the Balloon and she said dont worry about her she can handle it just for me to paraglide down. I was stuck so I broke the balloon apart her eyes after the fall
Its 1AM but I got that glider, LOL. I rode all around there, sometimes running for my life. I blame that I was playing in handheld and couldn't quite see everything. Last playtime was on the TV. I didnt play BOTW Handheld much but if it was like TOTK then the camera is set up well for it. Wish it would zoom out some on TV.
> @MrBean cool pic of stuff. What's that link near the ganondorf statue? Looks bobblehead
> ish. Cute.
Yeah, that was from Windwaker. I also have a Mario, Samus, and Starfox bobblehead from that era too.
I got it ages ago when I had a buddy that was a manager at GameStop. I don't remember how/why they got them, but he gave me one for helping him with some eBay stuff back in the day.
-edit: ooofff, man, didn't realize till looking at the pic, poor dude has taken some abuse and dust over the years!

My son found this glitch online last night and was so excited about it. I'm probably going to dupe some diamonds before it gets patched. This game is incredibly stingy with money, it's ridiculous. I won't be able to afford those climate clothes until I'm so far through the game that it really doesn't help me anymore anyway.
There are mini-games to play where you can make money. There is one by Rito Village where you have to catch thrown boulders and place them on a platform. You get 100 rupees every time you get X number of points. I gained a few hundred rupees. Admittedly, it is not easy and takes a bit of time to really make money. In BOTW, my main source of income was selling meat sticks (cook 5 gourmet meats and get something like 400-500 rupees, although again that takes time and arrows to collect the meat. I basically kill every animal I come across, especially the bigger animals. My other biggest source of income was selling gems and luminous stones. They are worth 20 each and very easy to find in the depths. I don't know if they are worth saving for any reason...obviously we should not be selling gems anymore.
On one hand, the resources are WAY more plentiful than they were in BOTW. On the other hand, they are much more practical and usable, so it's not as easy to sell them off.
@bonham2 Are you saying we should keep them to fuse to weapons or is there another use for gems that I'm missing? Either way, I haven't come across anything that requires one to use a gem just yet, so I still sell them off. I'm sure I'll need to fuse them or something eventually, but I've barely fused anything myself so far. I just use the weapons I find along the way or take off enemies. There are some nice ones to be found underground.
I don't know if it bothers anyone else but I sorta can't stand looking at Link with an obnoxiously big weapon on his back. I obviously use them if I have them and it doesn't ACTUALLY take anything away from the game, but I do kinda miss just having the classic "sword and shield" look as I play through a Zelda game.

I would like to know this as well.

Agreed. Some of the fusions look really cool, but a lot of them look completely ridiculous. What's worse though is when you have something fused to your shield. A giant rock stuck to Link's back looks so bad.
> I duped 20 diamonds to buy the snow and lava armor sets, and the heat (voe) head

I've been playing around with it a bit. I haven't played a ton, so unfortunately, I don't have any diamonds yet, so I'm duping sapphires. Hopefully I can find a diamond to dupe before they patch this. I'd say I'm getting about a 65% success rate on it too.

As far as I know, it's just for fusing. The sapphires and rubies are the best fuses. They'll make anything an elemental weapon. I think diamonds make things really strong, but I haven't found any diamonds yet.
How do I rotate things so that they stand straight up? After clicking R, rotation only goes in 4 directions, not a 360. So unless I pick something up perfectly, it's slanted. My raft wouldn't raft very well, barely moved. I had to make a new one. (My first raft was great, but after I placed it in the water it sailed off too quickly for me to jump on. I watched it float away 😅😭)
@nonamesleft if you were to detach that sail from the log by toggling the right stick while grabbing it with Ultrahand, you’d then hold R, and press left twice then down, and it’d be upright. Then you’d stop holding R and get it to the center of the raft.
It’s hard to explain in words, you just have to sorta feel it out. Takes a bit of getting used to.
Rotate the part using the d-pad so an up or down rotation gets you where you need to be. As someone who uses CAD (computer aided modeling) it's second nature. Good on Nintendo for introducing this to gamers. The ultra hand is a very basic modeling program. Microsoft has 3d builder for free which is a more advanced version of this (yet still very basic).
> My daughter was shocked to find that she still has all of her old horses from her

Same. I used an Amiibo to summon Epona, and when I brought it to the stable, the stablemaster said something like "Oh, I see you've stabled with me before." And I was like dog WE JUST MET
> Rotate the part using the d-pad so an up or down rotation gets you where you need

Simpler said than done. Because if I picked up an item that is already in a slanted position, I couldn't seem to get it out of being slanted. But between what you said and what @theJaw said I figured it out. I rotated something so that the slanted part is directly facing link, then rotated it forward. That uprighted it.
I'm enjoying the game so far. This is really tricky. I have other things to do. Can't just be spending 2 hours now playing this. Well, I could. But I shouldn't. But I probably will... 😅
"We've got good news: during Clone of the Kingdom’s mass production run, an intern managed to severely botch the green ink pigmentation, producing a deep black. After taking one look at his accidental masterpiece, we immediately gave him a promotion. As a direct result of this mishap, each Clone of the Kingdom order contains an additional color option for the left Joy-Con, free of charge. As for the intern, his new job title is "Hazardous Materials Taste Tester."
Am I the only one using Amiibo? I see all the talk about farming etc, if ya got amiibo dat your farm. The Surface seems larger maybe cause it is easier to get around earlier in the game. So you can roam so much more, BUT add in the Depths and Sky overload! SO far I think the depth was the most fun exploring.

I haven't started playing yet (will do so tonight!), but my daughter has and she's been using the Amiibos. We've been going here to find out what items you can get: https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/zelda-tears-of-th...
Turns out you can get special themed fabric for your paraglider and other cool items that are related to the game that a particular Amiibo is from. You have a chance to get items like the White Sword (Skyward Sword), Twilight armor, Sheik's Mask, an Ocarina of Time equipment set, and more!
I used my faux-miibo cards today. I realized I never created cards for some of the Zelda amiibos since they didn’t unlock anything unique in BOTW. So I’ll need to do that tomorrow.

I have a Zelda Amiibo Card set works great, n Zelda Skyward Sword Amiibo one that was on sale a few months ago. I also used my Splatoon card set as non Zelda Amiibo give plenty of stuff too. Twice now been asked for stuff and if I go here I could find it, BUT I just so happen to have that item right now
I ordered a set of cards for myself of eBay. I'm not into collecting figurines but it would nice to have some of the unlocks. The full set of 26 is not much more than 1-2 amiibos.
I also ended up doing the GameStop deal, trading in two games I was able to pick up for $22 off offerup. After my $5 off reward, the total came out to a little over $17, so $39 for a physical copy is not bad.
In regards to amiibo - Some phones (like my pixel 7) can do NFC burning. I bought 25 blank NFC tags off of amazon and use my phone to burn amiibo. It's super easy and quite cheap.
I spawned in Epona last night using Twilight Princess Link, only to realize that we were on a mountain that required a ladder to get off of. So Epona is still stuck on that snowy cliffside :(

Yeah, that's what I did. I just created 4 newer ones I hadn't since I played BotW: Link's Awakening Link, Smash Bros. Young Link, TotK Link, and Zelda & Loftwing Skyward Sword HD
Now I have a card for each. I scanned them all yesterday and got a few unique items, including the Majora's Mask cloth for the paraglider which I'm rocking now. Almost, a lot of the weapons I got are all better that what I had, lol. Also got Sheik's Mask and a couple of the divine beast helms.

Nah, I've been scanning my Zelda Amiibo every day I play. The best thing I think I got is the OOT Tunic. Otherwise, it's just a great way to stock up on craftables and food.
I just did the Fire Temple myself, and upgraded the pad. Apparently, for the latter, you need to get Auto build (and fight Master Kohga) from the depths before Robbie will go to his lab.
I used Auto build to fix his balloon. Not sure if you have to do something before that. All I did was the quest with Josha, which tells you to follow the statues.
9 Hearts and upgraded armor set. Still getting 1 shot killed by blue enemies with decent weapons. Oh bother...
A few times I've had enemies pinned with constructs only to take damage from them through the construct when I go to deliver the final few blows. I guess I need to make more offensive constructs.
You jump off a high place and hit the "X" button to glide. Push the left stick in the direction you want to go. When your stamina is depleted (the green circle) you fall. Don't do that when you're high up, over water or over a cliff face/climbing surface.
Did you not play BotW, or have you gotten it yet?
Edit: or are you talking construct gliders (the bird looking construct)? Those need a means to move or get off the ground. Either on a cart, the tracks scattered around, or rockets/fans on sides to thrust upward to get them airborne.
Just beat Colgera. Dude was all bark, no bite, but such a fun friggin battle. One of my all time favorite Zelda bosses, right up there with the Gyorg Pair from Minish Cap.
@nonamesleft thought of you while reading Nintendo tips, you mentioned not getting on a boat you built quickly enough and it sailed away. (maybe plane I forget) anyway use recall. I have been quick to use ultrahand but forget to use recall in such situations.
also can use recall while on said device unlike ultrahand, didnt mean to make the glider go right use recall set a new coarse

also walk to the nose or wings to give your directions BUT a control stick is much easier if one is lying around, I have yet to get one from of the dispenser, try each I see

I have a mix of real Amiibo and the cards. While the cards are much easier, I like using my figures. The cards were given to me 5 or so years ago, so I'm just glad to finally be getting use out of them!
So the duping glitch is not working for me anymore. I don't believe there was a patch/update. I just built my house and unloaded a bunch of weapons, maybe it's tied to only having 2 bows, or maybe it's the area.
And speaking of building houses, this game keeps getting more like Animal Crossing, except for the killing and dying.
