If you want to be added just post your friend code. This list can make it easier to play with other GTZers. If you add someone's code, make a post or PM them so they know to add you back. Maybe tell them what online games you have as well.
If you sell or trade your 3DS please post so I can remove you from the list and save people the time of adding your code and having blank users taking up room in their friend list. Thank you and good day.

Recent Releases:

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World

Upcoming Releases:
Runbow Pocket Deluxe Edition 4/18 (will play on New 3DS hardware only)

Frankly the 3DS doesn't need to exist. I can count the number of times where I was like "FUDGE, I SHOULD TURN ON MY 3D!" on one hand, and lots of the really good 3DS games don't even fudging use it for the majority of gameplay. But the 3DS was the original model, so it is what it is. The 2DS XL is everything I wanted in a 3DS XL and nothing I didn't. Other than that fudging camera.

Even the price is right.

Yeah because I don't like it it shouldn't exist.

They should kill the 3ds all together and focus all efforts on Switch. How awesome would the Switch be right now with FE Echoes out at $40 and 2d Metroid looming? I'd have pulled the trigger.

That would have sped up my switch purchase too as I'm waiting on more games and particularly the rpgs that are coming down the road. I see both sides of the other question..if I didnt already have a 3ds xl.. I would def get the 2DS xl i don't care about the 3d effect.

The vast majority of 3DS owners I've ever talked to, both on here and in real life, all say they rarely, if ever, use the 3D.

I may use it here and there..but barely turned up even then. I may sell/trade my gold zelda 3ds and get one of these 2ds XL at some point. This gold one is pretty sick though

I pretty much never use the 3D.

Did anything but Xeno get released that requires the N3DS?

Runbow pocket edition came out like last week.

Futuridium, SNES games, and other digital games requires it.

Just the 3D aspect specifically. It was kind of a cute gimmick at first but even with the N3DS XL revisions it's still not so seamless that I'd just keep it on because why the fudge not (battery longevity issues aside), and like I said, lots of the top tier games (Pokemon) don't even use it proper if at all.

As a system the 3DS has been wonderful, lots and lots of great portable games, but I think the 3D has been holding the price point for the system absurdly high for far too long.

Also it was smarter for them to hold the 3DS line until they saw how Switch was doing, because if it flopped that would have been devastating and they would have committed all that money and manpower into a failure. Hindsight's always 20/20. We'll get the good stuff in due time, I have no doubts about Nintendo's ability to deliver. Just wish more third parties would feel like doing more than HD reissues across all the main platforms.

For retail there's only like 2 or 3 games. In the eShop there's more, but still not a lot. Pretty much any indie game made using the Unity engine will require New 3DS hardware to play it.

There are some decent sales at Best Buy right now. B1G1 50% Off on select games and some clearance as well. I saw Monster Hunter Generations for $15.99 w/GCU and also check other titles not listed for the B1G1 because it works on DQVIII, as an example, even though DQVIII is not listed.

Question: Is it worthwhile to play the Monster Hunter games in order (from 3-Generations), or does it really not matter?

It super doesn't matter. You're best off playing whatever people agree is mechanically the best game.

I held a grudge against Monster Hunter for the longest time because it was the series Capcom blew off Ace Attorney fans to promote... And then they decided to not bring most of the Monster Hunter games over here either.

On a lighter, more positive note... Is anyone picking up Miitopia?

I'm considering it. I bought Miitopia for my friend for Christmas (she's in Japan and they've had the game since last year) and she's a pretty casual gamer (prior to buying a 3DS in 2013 for ACNL she hadn't bought a video game for herself since the PlayStation 1 era) but she seemed to lose interest after 2-3 weeks and never finished it, so I hope that doesn't happen to me too. I remember in 2014 she warned me against buying Tomodachi Life because she said how fast it gets boring, and she was definitely right about that.

Try the demo demos. Yep, there are 2 of them. One is a series of short movies you can cast Miis for. The other is the full 1st chapter and your progress carries over to the full version.

What are your thoughts about certain features of the upcoming Metroid game (like a harder difficulty mode) being locked unless you buy certain amiibos?

I'm ok with it if they make them available and it doesn't get too ridiculous. I'd have loved it if the Zelda DLC came with Amiibo (and were available At a reasonable price).

It sound a bit like BS though if the only way too get those extra reserve tanks is to have the Smash Amiibo. Fudge that noise.

Like the article says, considering they tend to do a "one and done" approach to these critical Amiibos, it's a crapty game.

Luckily you can dupe the NFC chips for relative low cost. Worst case, you buy a card for $7. But that's a very crapty game to play.

I've never been a fan of how Nintendo has handled amiibo functionality, but now it's really starting to bother me. Sure, if you want the figures that's fine, and I really like the new Samus amiibo, but considering how when something like this happens the amiibo become scarce, it just sucks. If you could buy the DLC otherwise, then maybe, but remember when art galleries and sound tests (and alternative costumes) were regular unlocks through game progress? Hell, the sound test used to be accessible right away from the main menu in games that had it. And now we're paying extra for higher difficulties? At least most games that had higher difficulties added later made it free through an update.

This just reeks of a cash grab by Nintendo.

I'm quick to defend Nintendo, but I have to agree. It hasn't affected me too much. Most of the extra functionality that I've cared about came with Amiibos that I wanted to get anyway, but who knows how long that will continue. The things they limited to Amiibos were much more slight earlier on, but it seems they're really starting to expand it. I'm not a fan of this approach at all. It's bad enough as is, but when you also consider how hard it can be to get some of these Amiibos, then it becomes ridiculous.

Looks like it's getting a physical release, judging by the listing I saw on Amazon. (Still no box art, though.) All of the Layton games to date have gotten a physical release, in fact...I'm definitely looking forward to Metroid as well, and Etrian Odyssey V next month.

It first released on iOS. Now, it's getting a physical/digital release in North America. I think Europe has the release around the same time, and that already has a box art. I think the NA box art will look different, though, since it's been a tradition for the Layton covers overseas to be altered.

I'm pretty excited. While I'd much rather have a new 2D adventure on Switch, Metroid II was in dire need of a remake. My biggest hesitation is the source material; my guess is it will hold this one back a little. Either way it will be fun to play a "2d" Metroid again.

From the reviews I have read, it seems like it is more of a re-do than a remake. The only way that it is similar to Metroid 2 is the story. There is a map. The world is entirely different. The combat has been updated. There are new weapons. There are tons of hidden secrets/items/false walls and floors/etc. It's basically an entirely new game.

Depends on your taste, more traditional, dungeon crawler etc. . The one I am most looking forward to is Alliance Alive early 2018 bc it is the most like RPGs from the 16 and 32 bit era from what I hear.

Best Buy made available the Special Edition of Samus Returns this morning. It's sold out at Gamestop and only third party sellers are scalping on Amazon. Between the good reviews, GCU and a rewards cert, I made sure to order the SE this morning. I like that reversible cover. I wish the Samus amiibo was available separately.

Stella Glow is a must buy. The soundtrack is amazing and the story and gameplay are great.

Ya I've been watching for a deal. I don't see many available and when I do it's the deluxe set I just want the regular.

I enjoyed it quite a bit as well.

Games I still plan to get:

Layton's Mystery Journey
Mario & Luigi (though not on release day)
Etrian Odyssey V
Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology
SMT: Strange Journey Redux
The Allied Alliance

I'm not sure about that "new" Mario Party. I haven't even played Star Rush yet.

I guess it just depends on how much you like those mini-games.

I may pick up Mario & Luigi down the line. It's the only entry in that series I've played, and I really enjoyed it.

All I can think of is Metroid, Zero Time Dilemma, and possibly Stella Glow. I loved the first two Zero Escape games, and I had my eye on Stella Glow a while back but never pulled the trigger.

I'm hoping Metroid is it, although I'd like to pick up FE Echoes cheap as well. Don't really need anything else.

A for the Metroid Amiibo, I bought them and I have no way to input them to my 3ds. No plans to buy the scanner.

Which series would you start first from those 3?

Hmm
.I haven't played monster hunter stories so I don't know how to compare those to it :/

Probably mega ten or etrian.. youtube some gameplay of those and see what you think you'd like best so you don't buy something you don't end up liking.

I would start with Alliance Alive since I heard it is the most feeling like a super Nintendo RPG. If you are just looking for general recommendations Dragon Quest VII and VIII are must plays. And Stella Glow is the best sRPG on the system, and one of the best sRPGs I played in a while. Again mainly because it scratched an "olden days" itch for me. But it's a top quality game. Even though it's not a true RPG Zelda Link Between Worlds is a fun short little game with a great use of 3D (if you are into that like me)

I'll probably look into Stella Glow. Heard great things about that one.

Ya it showed up today, some people have been saying Amazon has been slacking on release day shipping but they've only missed one for me of lots of pre-ordered games

I'm super late to the party here, but I think the 3D on the "NEW" 3DS is outstanding, and I leave it on low (at least) all the time. Sometimes I crank it all the way up if the game does it well (Link Between Worlds for example...)

I started Metroid: Samus Returns. It's a well made game, nothing really wrong with it other than it just can't keep my attention. I think maybe 2D Metroids just aren't for me.

This is lesser than Fusion or Zero Mission imo. Too many sacrifices in spicing up the nonexistent challenge in Metroid, nothing less thrilling than smashing QTEs start to finish.

Not unplayable, not even bad, just lesser.

QTEs? Samus Returns doesn't have QTEs. Unless you mean when she physically holds on to an enemy and you furiously shoot your blaster after countering their attack. But that's only at the rate you do it, and you can beat any enemy without it and with precision aiming too.

It's better to avoid enemies than to try to kill them without the melee counter. More fun, too. Regular shooting in this game is a huge bummer, compared to every other Metroid game in the series (other than the original GB title). I think Samus is too big (like she was in Metroid 2!)

I see Melee Counter as QTE without a big button prompt, especially with its repetition.

I don't LOVE Samus Returns but I like it. It just seems like it's going to be super long. It says I'm only about 16% and I'm in area #4.

It took me 12 and half hours to 100%. The percentage goes more by the collectible items than the progress you've made by area.

Ah ok. Hopefully once I backtrack for all the items it will jump up a bit.

Yeah. Depending on how many items are in a given area, that area's completion percentage may jump as much as 12% when you collect one.

I think the problem with Samus Returns is the game of which it is a remake. Metroid 2 on GB, for some reason, gets alot of praise right now that it probably doesn't deserve.
