It's a lot of fun, man. Just send me (or Guru) a PM if you want to play a multiplayer battle sometime. @Guru, do you mean that you can exit the game entirely in a multiplayer match, and the continue later?
I'm holding out for the physical release. While there is no word yet as to wether there will eventually be one, given its rave reviews and the fact that they said that they were definitely open to the idea, I think it's a no-brainer.
Yah does that mean that XBox games will be playable via Switch? Or just the cross platform games like Rocket Leauge or Fortnite? Very confused but will be chubbed to the max if I can play Bioshock Infinite on my Switch.
I think playable via their streaming service. Its going to be available on both Switch and iOS. Spencer was saying that xCloud really won't be a thing for a few more years but its fully up and operational internally within the company. MS ha also been buying up hundreds of acres around the country to expand Azure. Its the fastest growing cloud infrastructure in the world right now.
Ya just cross play games it seems. It would be insane to think you could play Xbox games like Halo and/or Gears on the Switch, although if they ever did that I think Sony would have to go off themselves.
Eurogamer reported this too, It doesn't read that you can play Xbox games on switch but it looks to expand crossplay and make that easier for devs to do. It says you can also earn achievements in games that are cross play regardless of what device you're on like you could earn an achievement in warframe playing the switch version.
They had said awhile back they were looking to take Xbox as a platform everywhere people play, so possibly not out of the question you could one day play on switch or other device, this is based on their plan of cloud computing handling the lions share of the work and your device being the input method and screen, but I'd think they'd need 5g to get pretty widespread or maybe something even better to have that actually happen
This is from an article I read earlier on Trueachievements.com:
By using Azure-hosted game servers and streaming clients like the PlayFab platform Microsoft acquired just a few days ago, Microsoft promises that "any Console Native game currently shipping in the Microsoft Store on Xbox will be capable of streaming to a mobile device" without developers having to alter their game code at all. Even if streamed on mobile, the games will use the same graphics and "input paradigms", although they can be customised to allow for touch input when a controller is not available.
ya its a bold strat, but if anyone has the resources to make it happen its MS, they have essentially infinite money, and could buy sony and Nintendo both without a thought if they wanted to and just end it all. that would certainly get that penetration to the Japanese market they've always wanted lol.
id be down to play my library on anything, that's the dream, sell me a rom and let me do what I want to with it.
They are doing lots of really cool server stuff behind the scenes that will start to be talked about within the next 1-2 years. Some news is already starting to trickle out, but if they're the first ones to do what they're thinking is possible then its going to be game over for the cloud computing markt, they'll have no competition any longer.
Yeah, I got to work directly on the project and was also shown pictures that one of our engineers took of some of the equipment they had installed and were installing. Its really cool stuff. It was funny because even though I worked on the project I still wasn't supposed to know what they were doing in that building, it wasn't until one of our engineers filled me in despite having to sign 2 different NDAs.
wild stuff. our generation has certainly seen and will continue to see some amazing changes when it comes to tech and how it affects our lives. as I approach 40 now its just unreal at times to look at what we have and what will be in the next few years.
> Sweet. Mario 2 was one of my most wanted (NES Online). Kirby is nice too. Now
> if they can only get Contra...
Fudgein' yeaaaaaaaa. I'm fine without Contra, but Mario 2 was a clear winner pick. Kirby's tight too, that last boss fight's still one of my favorite NES moments of all time, always gives me goosebumps
Also just thought of the possibility of playing online 2-player mode for Super Mario World when the SNES games hit Switch and got real real hyped. Haven't even thought about it, but multiplayer Mario is something I haven't done since I was a kid and SMW was the one we always used to crowd around. Can't wait.
They don't need permission from rare, right? That's bullcrap to have no DK games.
I think they should charge more if they're going to add N64 and GC. The service is probably only worth NES and SNES at this price. That said, I'd gladly pay $10/mo to have a huge library ot NES-GC at my fingertips (and hopefully some Wii too).
DK shouldn't be a problem. They own the character and I'm pretty sure the IP for games like DK on the SNES and DK64. And agreed. If they add SNES/N64 and even GC digital games by emulation, I would say bump up the price of the premium service to about $30-$40. I can see ppl paying that for such a variety of old games and content.
> They don't need permission from rare, right? That's bullcrap to have no DK games.
SNESC had DKC, and obviously they've been releasing DK games since Rare's departure, but if you're asking if they need to license the game from Rare, that's dependent on the arrangements they made when developing the game. It's possible Nintendo didn't foresee the need to retain exclusive distribution rights to the game during its inception, which like every other third party title would mean that they have to obtain licensing to re-distribute it, regardless of the fact that it's got Nintendo's IP within.
Funny part is, obviously, Microsoft gets a kickback if that's the case here. But since it was published by Nintendo, that's probably moot, it's very likely theirs. They're probably just waiting to drop it until later.
One of the MS guys, when touring Rare's studio after their purchase, though that they had gotten the rights to Donkey Kong Country and 64 because of posters up on the studio's walls and very quickly found out that they didn't own anything associated with either of those franchises.
Ya Ninty is smarter than that. They wouldn't get into bed with someone without laying down some ground rules first and the handing over of one of their IP's is kinda frowned upon by the big N and rightfully so.
> Dude I'm getting raped so hard on Wargroove. I died three times on the fourth level
> (maybe 5th?)
Yes, it's a pretty difficult game. I'm on Act 6 and have struggled with some missions as well. You can lower the difficulty in the options menu, if you don't mind getting fewer stars (maybe no stars) for the mission that you're having problems with.
I'll use a spoiler tag. If you don't like getting your hopes up with rumors, don't click.
It's rumored there will be a Nintendo Direct on Feb. 13. I know there was one rumored for last month and it didn't happen (not counting the Nindies Showcase), I have no idea who started that rumor but for the one on the 13th, King Zell is saying it's gonna happen. He's been correct in the past enough times that I see no reason not to believe him on this (examples: he hinted at The World Ends With You Switch port before it was ever announced, also Animal Crossing being announced in September's Nintendo Direct, and dropped details on Pokemon Let's Go before Nintendo's big reveal).
He says to expect Metroid Prime Trilogy to showcased, but that Nintendo is also working on Pikmin 3 (another "Deluxe" port of a Wii U game I'm guessing), Super Mario Maker 2, BoxBoy, Pokemon and the long rumored 2D Zelda but he doesn't know if they'll be shown in the Direct or saved for later in the year. There's also lots of new games coming from Japanese developers.
So I'm going to be selling some Joy-cons. What is a fair price for used near mint controllers? Blue and Red, and yellow x2? I want to sell them but also get fair value for them. I'm thinking $50 per pair but I'm not sure. Halp!
